This is still our favorite place to stay in the Keys. And on this stay, our room was upgraded to one with a beautiful bay view. There have been some interesting changes since the last time we were here, before hurricane Irma. The far end of the beach seems to have been extended a bit with much nicer, softer sand (they should do the same with the rest of the sand, which is very coarse). Now, instead of cards allowing only one towel per person, they use red plastic wristbands and are much more liberal with the towels, which is a very welcome change. Also, the individual men’s/ladies’ rooms at the pool are now designated as family restrooms, which makes a lot of sense, and they smell much better than they used to, too. There are some great spots to sit on the ocean side under thatched canopies that protect you from the sun that are away from the pool and much quieter, if you prefer to be away from any noise and music. Don’t get me wrong...the pool is very very nice. The Wi-Fi is much better than it used to be, too. It reaches much further out toward the beach area now. On our first evening here, Mario, Lena, and Ricardo greeted us with hugs welcoming us back at Breezer’s for happy hour, and we had our usual virgin mango daiquiri, which Mario automatically made for us. When we went to breakfast at Gus’ on our first morning, we received an amazingly wonderful greeting from Barbara and Winsome, with hugs and kisses. We love them both! And James was also very welcoming. And we got to see Eugena on our last morning. She remembered us too. We’re platinum members and usually get one day of complimentary continental breakfast, but this time full breakfast was included every day—we were told it was a manager’s special this week, which was great! We did the buffet, which includes many fresh fruits, lox, eggs cooked any way, omelets, French toast, coffee, tea, juice, breads, pastries, etc etc. Couldn’t be better! I only have two things that do need to be addressed: 1. The beds are still way too high. I have to use a chair to boost myself into it...yes, really. It’s been this way for many years and I know others have complained about the same thing. But the beds/mattresses themselves are super comfortable. 2. The pool chairs are all new..but I find them very stiff and uncomfortable without the aid of a pillow or lots of towels. But there are plenty of them, and I didn’t have a problem finding an empty one to use. All in all, as I said, this is still our favorite place to stay. Everyone is always welcoming and it feels like a second home. Collapse

This place is ok but was a bit disappointed with the facilities. Rooms are small and ours was in need of attention to detail. Bed was comfortable but a bit high up for me. Nice view from the balcony but the sliding door was hard to operate and same for the shower door. Pool is small and also the hot tub is very small. Front desk staff was polite but did not get the impression that they were genuinely friendly. Best experience was at Gus’s Grill for breakfast as the hostess was over the top and nice selection. Overall, I think there are better options in Key Largo for the price and definitely this place could use some updates and a detailed cleaning and some attention to details. Collapse

Recently spent 3 nights at this Marriott and loved it- great location and beautiful room facing the ocean and pool- pool was great~ loved the drinks they made for us at the pool bar- nice dinner at Gus’ Grille overlooking the ocean- beautiful sunsets there too~ nice property even though it’s a little older- nice housekeeping staff and pool staff too- I do wish they had a hot tub just for adults- couldnt relax in there because of all the young children who were using it all the time - we would definitely stay here again- wish they would offer happy hour at the pool bar instead of Breezers , but at least they have 1 bar on site with Happy Hour- had a great time at this Marriott- would definitely recommend staying here Collapse

Stayed here for a couple of nights on my way south in the Keys. Really a nice Marriott Resort with it's own beach, pool, and great facilities. I found the people who worked here to be positive and helpful with anything I asked about. Why not 5 stars then? Well, my room was not a bayview so I got to experience traffic noise just about all the time in my room and balcony. Should you stay here always spend the extra money and get a bayview room unless you want to deal with that. Best things I liked here? The breakfasts were really good and included with the room as the Marriott was doing a special for the month. The kayaks were fun and in good shape. The pool was well kept up. The parking was free and available with just a little hunting Not so great stuff? Cruiser bikes are available for rent here - at 25 bucks an hour? Other equipment prices also pressed the limits. The traffic noise is intense from the highway and goes all night - unless you have a bayview room. All in all a good stay at a resort that makes you feel welcome and valued. Collapse
