The location was ideal, i had all my business meetings around the area. The service and the staff is amazing. We had an early check out and wanted to grab a quck bite before departure (it was 5 minutes to 7 am, breakfast starts at 7 am). Would be great if the hotel arranged at least coffee and some pastries for the people on the go. We did ask the staff at the restaurant and they gave us something to take with us. Collapse

I have to reluctantly and regrettably mention that my favorite hotel brand - Intercontinental, has put me down this time. From the moment I check-in till the day of my check-out, there were several unfortunate incidents that I had to face. 1) I am a Platinum Ambassador member so at the time of check-in, as always I stood in the priority line for members only but the hotel front desk staff asked me to move to the normal line due to them being short of staff and they were treating all guests as equal. Not to mention that there is construction going on right outside the hotel entrance which makes the hotel welcome look very disturbing. 2) After entering my room, I could clearly see that the rooms are dated. There are no USB slots built-in the walls to charge your devices and the carpet had that old smell. 3) The safety deposit box was not working so I had to call the maintenance team who also called another team to work with together to fix the battery issue it had. This experience put me off as it was late in the night and I came from a tiring road trip. 4) As I settled into the bed to watch TV, i realized that the TV remote was not working so I had to call the maintenance team again to fix this issue as well. Another set-back with an hour of check-in that put me off. 6) I was disturbed to note that my use tea cup was not washed even once for the three nights I stayed at the hotel. I purposely did not wash them myself to see if the housekeeping team washes it or not during the 3 nights i stayed there. 7) On the last day, I wanted to go for a swim and upon reaching the fitness center I found out there is no swimming pool in this 5 star hotel. 8) On the last night, after i finished my packing, I wanted to weigh my luggage, so I took out the weighing scale and found that to be not working as well. I requested for another one which took two reminders and more than 2 hours to arrive into my room. Overall, one can easily identify that hotel is going through a hard time keeping up with the five star service either due to its outdated facilities or short number of staff. I wish them best of luck to improve their services otherwise they will be take out by the competition. I want to thank the front-desk person who did my check-in Mr. Abdulghani for giving me complimentary breakfast. Collapse

I just returned from a week in Paris at the IC Le Grand. I really cannot say enough good things about this lovely hotel in a knockout of a location across from The Opera. It's grand and ornate, that is undeniable. But it never felt stuffy to me. The staff were unfailingly gracious, smiling, and helpful. I took my parents for my dad's birthday and, due to my IC Ambassador status, they got an upgrade to an Opera view room, which was lovely. We also had IC Club access for snacks, drinks, etc.. This is a great choice and I recommend it. The all-day Champagne was a delightful touch. We had the very excellent buffet in the Cafe de la Paix for breakfast each morning; we were very happy with the vast array of choices from many cuisines and the fine service. I found our elegant room to be silent, immaculately,clean, and the king sized bed extremely comfortable. I'd add that we were on an interior courtyard, so keep that in mind as rooms facing the busy streets might be noisier. But our room was so quiet that we could sleep with the windows open. The bathroom was oddly shaped, but modern. Bear in mind that this hotel was opened in 1861 (by Empress Eugenie!), so the rooms are often not uniform in size or layout across each category (I heard a disgruntled lady complaining that her family's two junior suites were not identical). The hotel is being renovated, so I cannot say what that rooms will be like once that is done, but we were well pleased by their present state. I'd add that we heard no construction noise and were not bothered in any way by the work going on. An anecdote: my mother slipped and fell on the steps going down to the lobby one morning. The staff immediately came to her aid, led by a lady named Alexandra. Everyone was caring and helpful, calling the EMTs right away. We ended up taking a ride to a local hospital where my mother was examined. Everything was ok and we were very grateful for the very professional and kind response of the staff at Le Grand. Everyone there was like that, in fact: concierges, waiters, hostesses, desk staff, etc.. There are certainly more expensive hotels in Paris with more glamorous modern day reputations, but this classic property will be my home in Paris from now on. I can only imagine how much better it will be after the renovation. Collapse

This Hotel is going through a remodel. There is only half the hotel available. This hotel isn’t on my return list till the remodel is complete. It’s fine if you are here for a couple of days for me I was here for 100 days during my stay I haven’t had a comfortable stay but this place is under construction. When you know this there is certain things that will make your stay less enjoyable. I could have moved but the city is at full capacity with the French Open,Fashion Week and the Royal Wedding. I feel sure when all this work is done this hotel will be amazing. Collapse
