Superbly located in the heart of the city, overlooking the breath-taking Biscayne Bay, the five star InterContinental Miami is an excellent choice for a break in this iconic city. Long-visited by the rich and famous, this is one of the city’s great hotels; the richly decorated lobby is characterised by Italian marble and precious African Wood, and features an original sculpture by Henry Moore. The rest of the hotel is no less impressive.

We came down to Miami a couple of days before our Disney Cruise, and stayed here. This may very well have been our fave hotel ever. Right off the bat, Cesar checked us in efficiently, patiently, and with as mile on his face the entire time. The location was perfect - not only in the heart of downtown, but we could actually see our ship right from our window. And waking up to the view overlooking the bay first thing in the morning was a great way to start the day. The breakfast buffet was huge, and an excellent value - esp with the mimosas. Our waitress Tinsley delivered absolutely amazing service...a glass was never more than half empty; she engaged both our daughters in conversation every time she came over; and she was extremely intent on keeping everyone happy (which she did). The room itself was exactly what you would expect from an Intercontinental Hotel, and was very clean (as was the rest of the hotel). Overall, the hotel itself and location can't be beat...then factor in the incredible service, and you've got the makings for a perfect stay! Collapse

Had a superb stay with InterContinental Miami before picking up a cruise from the terminal close-by. Hotel is ideally suited for airport arrival and the cruise next day. Super location close to bay area and restaurants and hotel has lovely roof top pool, lounge area and bar. Hotel feels super premium with dramatic atrium and stunning architecture. Service was very friendly and attentive and we were offered room with harbour view through huge full room width picture window. Beds were super quiet and comfy with lovely huge bathroom.Due to jet lag from UK we were wide awake at 4am and watched the cruise ships arrive from 5am! In my view this is the best hotel in the area for a cruise stay over out of Miami - or for being Downtown for business. Many thanks to the hotel team for superb start to dream holiday. Collapse

Let me begin this review by saying that I received a form email from the GM Mr. Robert Hill after our stay in late February. Due to some issues described below I sent him a personal email versus a more public social forum like TA. The first email received no response and the second one a brief note from a Stephanie Brown basically saying thank you and they would look into the items and it sounded like Mr Hill or someone from his office may send me a note. Well a month plus later no response. I realize people are busy but no excuse in my mind for this to be left open with a customer who has stayed many times in Intercontinental hotels. So I decided time is up and I will alert others so they can have a better experience. My note to Mr. Hill below; Mr Hill, My wife and I had a pretty good time at your hotel with some positive and not so positive experiences. First the hotel is beautiful and the harbor facing room we were assigned was truly outstanding. Your front desk staff and concierge desk were friendly, professional and knowledgeable as expected. My wife and I enjoyed the surrounding locale however we decided to return to the hotel and have a drink by the pool and then dinner at one of your restaurants. The pool area is very nice and we found a quiet little table next to the bar overlooking the harbor. It was a fantastic view on a Sunday evening with all the boat traffic. We asked the Bluewater Cafebar staff if we could eat downstairs at the Toro toro restaurant! I was wearing shorts and I thought I read shorts were not permitted. The bar staff called down to check and were told that shorts are not allowed in Toro Toro but we could eat at one of the tables in the lobby bar area. My wife and I went down and talked with the hostess for Toro Toro who was very nice and told us the same thing....Shorts not allowed but we could eat and order from the Toro Toro menu in the bar area. Imagine our surprise and dis-satisfaction when we saw a gentlemen in shorts returning to his party in Toro Toro. This was followed minutes later by a party of 3 gentlemen, one wearing shorts and sandals and were seated in Toro Toro. A little while later another shorts wearing person went inside. As we were waiting for our check a group of people were leaving Toro Toro and guess what.....another person in shorts and sandals. I was a bit perturbed by all this and was going to immediately complain but decided against a quick reaction. Another poor customer service experience was from our waitress in the bar area.....not only did we wait for a while to be served but then she left...we later learned she went to eat. The least she could have done is to inform us that someone else would be looking after our table. We had to flag down another waitress who came on duty who was very helpful and courteous. On a positive note the food was excellent and your drinks also generous. Lastly, the bar staff at the Bluewater cafe treated my wife and I as if we were invisible. When we first arrived I went to the bar to order 2 glasses of wine 3 people behind the bar looked at me and continued their discussion...they were not very busy with customers. eventually one of them broke off and served me. He then said he would check on us in a bit (since I started a tab). He came around the bar to serve another party immediately next us and even returned with their check WITHOUT even looking at my wife and I. Our glasses were empty and I went to the bar to get service.....again had to wait since they seemed to be engaged in another conversation. For a 5 star hotel my wife and I were very disappointed with the service and wanted this to be brought to your attention. I am a long time IHG member and have stayed at InterContinental Hotels in the USA and in various countries around the world primarily on business. Since this was a personal vacation trip I wanted my wife to experience the same great quality and service at InterContinental which I knew. Let's just say it did not quite hit the mark for her either. While a bit longer then I wanted to send I hope you read it and I am sure you will work to address some the short comings. Collapse
