This is a beautiful hotel, with well designed and appointed rooms and fantastic customer service. They seem to have a generous number of rooms with views of either the harbour or the city, and the location is quite convenient if you're visiting the Seaport area, which is now one of the most happening parts of town. The staff are great. Inilta Montana at the front desk went above and beyond to ensure I had a great stay, and Manita Aryala was friendly, efficient and made checkout easy and painless. Collapse

Missed a connection flight via Boston because of the sever weather conditions and had to stay in the city. The Intercontinental is located in the business district, walking distance to museums, the Boston Tea Party museum, Art museum, shopping, aquarium etc..And it is also very close to the airport. The area is very nice. The hotel itself is fabulous, a bar & fire place, lobby and gift shop downstairs. On the 2nd floor you will find a pool, spa and treatments. Food at the hotel is great and fresh. Staff is super, very friendly, professional and helpful. My room, overlooking the harbour, was everything you would expect from a 5 * Plenty of room, a very comfortable bed, nice view, coffee/tea making facilities and a beautiful, large bathroom with tub and shower. The hotel is elegant and modern. Yes, it's on the higher end, price wise, but it's so worth it. Perfect luxury. Collapse

Owning a restaurant is challenging and exhausting. As chef/owner I make time for my partner (business and life) to rejuvenate when possible. With Boston a train ride away from us and the Intercontinental being a quick walk from South Station, we decided a few years ago to become Abassador members and take advantage of their nice rooms, members lounge and on site spa and restaurants. It’s truly our go-to spot when we need R&R. Unfortunately, during our last few stays, the quality of the experience has deteriorated. Some examples are : Having 4 PM checkout but keys deactivated at 11AM Having a top sheet requested but none on the bed Being denied lounge access when it was paid for and confirmed, and having to argue for it Being promised a room upgrade as a Gold Level Ambassador and not receiving it These are all things that can and do happen in the hotel industry, but the fact that we consistently have issues is wrong. More importantly, the quality of the food has nose-dived in the past year. We had cold crab cakes, over cooked shrimp, breakfast potatoes that were re-served so many times they were just pieces of pieces and vegetable soup with elbows that was bland like dish water. Service, on the other hand, is stellar. When our hostess Dagma realized that we were locked out of the lounge, she helped us by contacting the front desk. She has always been the epitome of a great hostess and she has always gone above and beyond to make guest satisfaction the top priority. Likewise, the front desk staff, when confronted with these challenges, had been accommodating. We ordered room service while watching the Pats game. We had ordered a Fort Point pizza in the past that was excellent. We ordered it this time and it was not what was on the menu. No honey siracha sauce, just a sausage and pepperoni pizza, and not a good one. At Rumbah, the people sitting next to us ordered the same pizza and got the same dumbed down version. Our lunch at Miel was a major disappointment but it contributed greatly to the lunch service bottom line. It appears that their trend is to minimize food costs, using inferior ingredients, while maintaining the same pricing. The hospitality industry thrives on customer satisfaction, not maximized profits. If they can’t figure this out, the thriving competition will win out in the end. We hope against hope that they can right their ship before the tea goes overboard! Collapse

I did grab a bite to eat in the restaurant late Saturday and got a salad - there was so much salt on it I couldn't eat it. The bartender took it off my bill. Everything else was great. I would recommend this hotel to other people.

We wanted somewhere beautiful to stay over the Xmas period and was not disappointed. The staff are amazing and the hotel itself was great. The rooms are very spacious and the hotel is close to everything you need including food, entertainment and transport. We decided to upgrade our package to include a water view room which was simply beautiful overlooking the water. We also decided to upgrade to include the Intercontinental Club so that we could enjoy breakfast, snacks and relax in comfort on a high floor. This was well worth the extra money we paid. This is our 3rd visit to this hotel and would certainly recommend it highly. Collapse
