A nice place to stay for a couple of days. Very well located. Close to beach and the passenger ship terminal. It is also not too far from the town. Good rooms, restaurant and food. Helpful staff as well. A small hiccup that I went through was I got a bad headache in the middle of the night (perhaps to due to getting wet in rain earlier). I didn't carry my little personal medicine pouch, my bad. I thought it would be easy to find an aspirin or paracetamol but none of those were available at the hotel and nearest 24 hour pharmacy is around 30 mins walk away. That is something to be wary about. The hotel does have a AED though. Collapse

No hot water for a shower in the morning. Was told “sorry nothing we can do because of a problem earlier in the night” Typically, in these situations customer service would at least offer something to compensate you for the inconvenience, such as complimentary breakfast or an upgrade but no, even though we complained 3 separate times. Very poor service as far as we are concerned and we have stayed in hotels all over the world and in fact at this hotel 3 times before. The last time the gym and pool was out of order. In conclusion, not happy, most likely will not stay here again. Collapse

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. Almost every aspect was perfect: room size, quietness, cleanliness, location - 10 min walk to the city centre and 5 min to the central train and bus station. All four days we enjoyed the recreation facilities - excellent pool and jaquizzi, sauna and turkish bath. Every morning we walked along the sea embankment towards the beach area - it took 30 mins - and had a nice breakfast facing the sun - for mere 5 euro per person - with a large freshly squeeze orange (zumo naranja), coffee and snadwich (bocadillo) with jamon serrano. Great city walks, museums. Absolutely magnificent Cathedral, and walks to Alcazaba and Gibralfar hill fortress. Great shopping. Plenty of places to eat. Highly recommend eating in the market - the fish and seafood with a glass of white or red is a must! Take a bus ride (only 45 min) to Fuengirola and enjoy walk along the beach and a lunc in a small taverna "Gamboa" - our paella there was superb! One little 'but' (and this is commonplace) - why do the room service tuck in all the sheets under the matrass. My wide and I don't like to stretch our legs under the sheets/blankets that are tucked in to form a cocoon- maybe some people do like, I don't understand why!? The staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. In the cafeteria we had our bottles of wine opened for us (of course, for consumption in the room!) Collapse

We used the garage under the hotel for parking our rental car. Breakfast was perfect and we really enjoyed our stay. The direct area of ths hotel isn't that interesting but it is a short stroll away from city center and shopping area. Collapse

Nice hotel. Upon arrival, the pleasant lightness and the enormous spaciousness immediately catches the eye. Friendly welcome by the female receptionist, who - along the way - recommends us a number of nearby restaurants. We ask for a quiet room because the hotel is adjacent to a rather busy road. Once in the room there's a filthy smell of cigarette smoke and there are 3 beds, limiting net space to stamp size. Back to the receptionist. She assigns us another (quiet) room and this one is just fine. The hotel is certainly not all brand new, but it's neatly maintained. That evening we eat at El Trillo which was recommended by the receptionist and it turns out to be a more than excellent choice (see my review further on). The hotel has 180 rooms and is therefore quite massive, but in general it's not really noticeable. The breakfast is extremely extensive, well organized and all ingredients are constantly being replenished. Only in the Finnish sauna, the Turkish steam bath and the swimming pool it tends become unpleasantly busy due to the massiveness of the hotel. The hotel is within walking distance of Málaga train station but that is about the only advantage, as both the entertainment center in the old town and the entertainment center in the new marina are at a 30 minute walk. The indoor restaurant has a somewhat limited menu, although I must say that the 'custom made' salads (you can choose from a fair number of ingredients) are very tasty. The staff does it's utmost, but as they are only two (sometimes only one) it can take a considerable amount of time before you can order and after that it takes way too much time before your food finally arrives. I fail to understand why on the busier evenings there's not a staff of 3 or 4. Collapse
