I have stayed at this hotel more than half a dozen times. Each time I find myself willing this establishment to b better and each time....nah. Something (or several things) goes awry and I am left wondering 'why why why!!!???' Example: in each room I've stayed there is always something broken. Whether that be the phone that doesn't work, the plugs that don't work, the hot water that doesn't work (especially fun after arriving on a 13 hour flight and in desperate need of a shower) or asking for a quiet room, only to be placed in a room overlooking a 6 lane major road. Seriously???!!! Coupled with that, the delightful housekeeping staff (and they are mostly good) who have clearly been told to service the empty room either beside my room, above my room or across from my room AT 1AM with all the shrieking, laughter and mirthful chatter to colleagues (essential when one is doing boring room servicing tasks!) which guarantees a sleepless night all round, especially welcome when one is already suffering jet lag and trying to sleep. Yes, sarcasm. Sorry. The food is good, room service fairly prompt and its location (attached to a shopping mall in Rosebank) is convenient, safe and well monitored by staff. The gym is good- very good actually as it is 24/7, has reasonable weights and Smith machine, kettle bells, good assortment of cardio machines, mats, towels and water. Big pluses. Not especially clean (points lost for that) but still better than average. Staff remember your name (after staying as often as I do, they kind of should have a fair idea) but they don't have a lot of discretion to make changes and fix situations. This counts when things go 'wrong' and they have to go check with someone higher up to sort things. Note to management- if your frontline can't fix customer issues, that's a problem. Definite room for improvement but not bad. For the price and location, it is passable. And given it's a Hyatt Regency, it should be so much better. Collapse

We traveled from Victoria Falls to Johannesburg to get ready to head back home and it was my 50th birthday. My mom felt bad that we would be spending so much time travelling so she splurged on a concierge room at this hotel. She also bought a little celebration package with fruit and chocolates and had them write a card for me and that was waiting in the room when we checked in. We paid for a taxi service through the hotel to pick us up from Jo-burg airport. It was a luxury SUV and a lovely ride. Check in was quick and butler was very helpful taking care of bags for us. After we checked in my sister and I made spa appointments to get massages before our flight home the next morning. Then we went down and enjoyed the concierge floor. They had heavy apps and free wine and we ended up doing the rest of my birthday celebrating right there! It was great! The waiters that night, Tomo and Romeo were amazing and very helpful. Going back to the room we all had nice showers in the lovely bathroom and a great sleep. There was a small hiccup at the spa the next morning(they weren't really ready for us and were a bit disorganized so we ended up not getting the massage). But the concierge downstairs took care of it and offered us free services the next time we were there and they paid for our taxi service back to the airport. We loved this hotel and look forward to going back to Johannesburg and we would definitely stay here again! Collapse

As one the most expensive hotels in Gauteng, one would expect that this hotel would live up to its price tag. Regrettably, it does not. My experience has been rather disappointing. I was called upon to pay my laundry bill, once before getting ready for bed, or else my clothes would have not been returned. This on the evening of my arrival during the second leg of my business trip! And then another time because the bill was forgotten off my final invoice- this after reminding the team that I wasn't charged. Valet parking was "offered" and charged to me yet I found my vehicle parked outside the hotel instead of securely underground. Never again, will I subject myself to this kind poor hotel operations- and have already advised my company and business partners of the same. One department/division really doesn't know what the other is doing, and the duty managers can only "apologize" for these shortcomings. Sorry doesn't cut it guys! Buck up! Collapse

Arriving at the hotel with my significant other, we were greeted by friendly valet staff who offloaded our luggage & parked my car in the under ground parking. Checking in was very easy & within 5mins we were in our room ordering a bottle of wine. Room service was quick to arrive with our wine. The room itself was so lovely. I loved the gold finishes on the taps, the luxurious bathtub was hard for me to resist. We had dinner at the oneNINEone Restaurant & it was a pleasant experience. Food was delicious & service even better. The only negative would be that there was no breakfast included in our room fee which was a staggering R4000 for one night....... Collapse
