I stayed this past weekend with my husband and two kids. This hotel is in very easy walking distance to the National Mall even with young kids. We were able to walk to all of the museums on the mall. The proximity of this hotel to the attractions we wanted to see helped us to cram a lot of sightseeing into a weekend trip. There is plentiful underground parking at a very reasonable rate. We had dinner at the hotel both nights, once in the Capitol Bistro and room service the next night. The food and service was great both times. We also had brunch at the Capitol Bistro on Sunday and that was good too. We visited the Starbucks as well. This hotel is super convenient and has everything you need. I just wish the pool was open because my kids would have loved to swim after a long day of touring. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. Will stay here again on our next visit. Collapse

Every person who worked there was so friendly. My family of 4 (2 adults, 20, 14) stayed for 1 night. Arrived early and they said a room was available right then but by the railroad tracks. I saw reviews here where people said it was too loud with the train. A freight train runs through my town so I said no problem. I think we only heard the whistle 4 times total. It didn’t bother us at all. Room was clean. A nice touch was each bed had 4 pillows 2 firm 2 soft. The pillowcases were labeled. It was nice to have a choice. Our only problem was the AC didn’t cool the room. There is no way to point the air toward the bed. It was 90 degrees out in May. The hotel hallway was freezing but the room would get warm set at 65. Unfortunately the air is blocked by the desk. That corner gets cold so the air shuts off before cooling the room good. Under the desk was a rollout table that we moved by the beds, pulled over the chair, and played cards. Walls were thin. Could hear people in next room talking and laughing through the connecting door. . Parking right under the hotel for $40 was convenient we parked from 10am Sat and could stay parked til 5 pm Sun and go in and out during the day. There is not a lot of food in this area, so pack some snacks. There was a fridge in the room. The carpet in the hallway made us feel dizzy. Pictures hanging in the rooms were all DC themed...a nice touch. Collapse

It is relatively expensive, but this is an unique area to visit. Would definitely stay here again to view more sites. Collapse

We chose this hotel because of its location - it's an easy walk to most of the major tourist attractions Washington, DC has to offer - and indeed found it incredibly convenient. The area is nice, there are food trucks steps away and many nice restaurants a short walk away. However, the noise from the nearby train tracks made it very difficult to sleep through the night! We were in a room very close to the tracks; when/if you book at this hotel, make sure you ask for a room that's on the other side of the building. Otherwise, the hotel was great. There is a restaurant in the hotel that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner (they push you towards the buffet). Service at the restaurant is friendly but average. There is parking underneath the hotel which I believe was $40/day but you can enter and exit at will. There is a pool on the rooftop but it was closed when we were there. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and spacious. Overall, a good stay. If the hotel were not so close to the train tracks, it would have been even better. Collapse

We certainly found the Holiday Inn Washington - Capitol to be in an extremely convenient location, but that was certainly NOT all it had going for it. It is very close to the National Air and Space Museum, the Capitol Building and the National Mall with its many attractions. It is also close to a metro stop, providing rapid and inexpensive transportation throughout the city and region. While other reviewers have mentioned that the Holiday Inn Washington - Capital was noisy, we did not find that to be the case. In addition to the rooms being recently updated and quite comfortable, we found ours to be very quiet. The bed was comfortable and the decor and fixtures were modern and attractive. This hotel does not include a breakfast in the listed rates, but it offers two on-site eating establishments as well as close proximity to other restaurants of all price ranges. Likewise parking is not included in the published rates, but it does provide parking for $25/day, well below other rates in the neighborhood. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Given the difficulty commuting into and out of Washington, we found the convenience of it's location to be worth the additional costs of staying in downtown. Recommend it highly. Collapse
