The best part of the hotel is Kay the manager! So nice and friendly on check-in and was really helpful about info on the area and had a lovely personality and a nice smile! Breakfast was good for a buffet. Collapse

Close to M6 Junction 10 but sat nav directions are somewhat misleading. We all arrived eventually although some found the nearby Holiday Inn Express first before being redirected! Staff here are brilliant, friendly efficient and professional. However, certain cosmetic things do let this establishment down, perhaps it is due for a refurb soon, I hope so. The building itself is adequate but it’s tired in many respects. The carpets need replacing or at least a good clean as they look very tired, are noticeably stained in parts and thus are not really up to standard. The bathroom in my room suffered from what seems to becoming more common in many chain hotels, evidence of the start of black mould above the bath. Housekeeping must be overworked or are overlooking the issue. The beds and bedclothes are comfortable and spotless but again the appearance of the room was let down by the carpet. A bottle of water would have been good but many places have stopped this in the last few years. The bar was efficient and friendly with a reasonable selection, also not overpriced which is always a bonus. Breakfast was standard and therefore adequate apart from the coffee which none of us enjoyed. Parking is free which was a real plus point and there was plenty of spaces. Yes I would stay there again at the civil service rate but I imagine the rack rate might put me off if I was a private individual. In summary for a one night business stay it was acceptable but I have stayed in more refreshed Holiday Inns and if I was a guest for a longer duration I would be expecting something better. The competition is fierce these days and some other chains and individual hotels are doing a wee bit better with some doing a lot better. Collapse

Me and my mother, stayed at this hotel at short notice, in Mid-May 2019, We arrived with a very warm welcome by the reception staff on duty. They checked us in very quickly, and directed us to two twin bedded rooms, on the ground floor, facing away from the busy M6 Motorway. Our rooms were facing the hotel courtyard. We had prepaid to have the three course dinner, breakfast and room rate. The dinner I found was quite filling, and the some of the portions, especially my main course (Mashed potatos with 4 sausages and garden peas) - 4 sausages! may of been a bit much as a main course, I would of expected maybe either 2 or 3, and with a bit less mashed potato. But the dinner overall was very good. My mother said she used the swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi facilities, and she thought that they were very good, and well maintained. At one point, when she was there, she had them all to herself for a while. A had a fairly good night's sleep. One problem we did have though, is that the Samsung TV in the room, kept making loud clicking sounds, or pops. I heard that it isn't a bad issue, it is just the way they were designed, apparently I heard that it is part of the way, that the TV cools itself, to keep it's components the right temperature. After switching the TV off at the wall, and totally unplugging it from the wall socket, everything was fine after that. And there were no more noises coming from the TV. It was my birthday, on the day of our check out from the hotel. The staff said their wishes and congratulations to me. Breakfast I believe was better than dinner. There was a fairly good amount of options, and I really like their bacon, sausages, beans, and eggs. We checked out at about 08:10am. As my mother had to go to work, as it was a Monday morning. Overall, it was a very good stay, and we would stay at this hotel again. Collapse

As part of a mystery weekend coach tour, our over-night stay was at The Holiday Inn. Staff were pleasant and helpful. We had a twin room which was spacious, clean and tidy with comfortable (larger than single) beds and bathroom. The low level lighting in the bathroom was a nice touch. Our evening meal (a buffet type affair) was probably the worst thing of the visit, not that the food was badly cooked but was very basic with just 3 choices of Chicken, a cottage pie and a veggie choice the new potatoes could have done with a touch longer in the pan, (same with the veg!) But the desserts were quite nice. We had a few drinks after dinner in the bar area furnished with comfy couches and chairs and would say that given there were quite a few large groups apart from our own, an extra barperson would have been a great help to the lone barman who was on! Breakfast was overall much better, again a help yourself buffet but with a much larger selection for hot and cold breakfasts, juices, cereals etc. One thing I would say is that although there are tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, they have the tray tucked away in the cupboard under the TV...a fact we didn't discover until we were about to leave! A discreet sign in the room or a word at check-in would have been much appreciated! Overall though a very nice overnight stay. Collapse
