Stayed here for two nights in a family room. Good friendly service from especially the reception and the young man at the bar. Rooms were not huge but adequate, parking very good and a good price. Breakfast poor and felt let down that our 13 year old daughter was charged full price for a glass of juice and a hash brown!! This being the case none of us had breakfast the next day so in the end the hotel lost out. Collapse

Felt disappointed by this trip, we stayed in a newly decorated room however the light was so dark it was hard to get ready without feeling paranoid I would step to daylight looking like a clown!! Room was so hot however did learn it had air con the next day. When checked in I asked reception lady about things to do and she wasn't up to speed with things going on in the city - all we got that there's a few rides in the centre for the kids - hardly great way to see Sheffield. We googled ourselves and found out pride was on and headed to the park, we had a great time and good stroll around the local area with bars, restaurants and quirky shops. Breakfast was limited choice, no fresh crusty bread, limited hot buffet with the worst scrambled egg ever tasted. The hotel situated well for centre of town, I wish we booked the express which is next door as I don't think we paid for anything extra special which is disappointing for a holiday inn. Collapse

Grand entrance and corridors. Good parking. Bathroom fine but bedroom was cramped. Full of dark furniture. 2 desks in a small room? Carpet was not particularly clean. Heavy drapes at the window which shout dust. Altho these and furniture were prob trying to fit in with era of hotel it just didn't feel clean. Room service only £2.50 but cheese board had seen better days. Finally the noise of traffic to be expected (why no double glazing) but also noise from a nearby rave, guests jumping around upstairs and a mini party (or so it seemed) outside main entrance in the early hours meant little sleep. Avoided breakfast so can.t comment on food went to nearby cafe on victoria quays -excellent full English including tea and toast for £4. Collapse

As soon as we walked into the venue, we knew it was absolutely perfect. The beautiful decor, high ceilings and ornate furnishings captured me straight away, and I knew it was the venue of my dreams! (I actually cried as soon as I walked through the doors it was that perfect!) Our meetings with our wedding planner, Jessica, were fantastic. She showed us around the whole venue, even the rooms we weren't using, got us drinks and we had very thorough meetings where she gave us all the information we needed to know. She spoke to us about what we wanted and made suggestions on how we could cater best for our guests, but never pushed her idea if we wanted something else! Jessica gave us a well detailed booklet with all the packages, prices and information. During the planning of the wedding, I was always able to contact her via email and she would frequently send me pictures of the venue and decorations to help with our planning as we weren't able to make it to the venue very often. On our final meeting before the wedding, Jess had a very detailed list of everything we had spoke about in previous meetings and over email, and she helped us figure out where everything needed to go in the venue. Jess and the team made everything look exactly how we wanted it, and on the day she allowed us to have a look at the set up before guests arrived so we were happy with it. The venue team were so helpful, when I requested that the gravy for the meal could be in gravy boats and not on the plates (literally as the food was being served!!) they changed it straight away no bother! And I caught my dress on something so it ripped slightly, and a woman from the team came over straight away with a needle and thread and offered to sew it for me! Our room was beautiful and clean, and breakfast was lovely too. The next morning the team had put all of our decorations into boxes ready for us to take home. We are so grateful for all that Jessica and the team did, they went completely above and beyond what we expected (and what we know other places have done from our friends' weddings!) and they made our day absolutely perfect from start to finish!!! A huge thank you!! Collapse
