Hotel is very nice however it is nothing more than a hotel with a pool etc.. Located in the middle of nowhere (and by nowhere I mean an industrial estate, not a beautiful country setting) the facilities are relatively basic. Dinner menu was very limited and expensive. The room was nice, bed was lovely and generally quiet and peaceful, however water pressure in the shower was pathetic. Towels throughout felt harsh and had holes in.. The 'spa' had only 16 beds beside the pool. Day 1 we didn't get a seat at all, day 2 we had to wait a while and then had to watch as many others went through the same problem. The water was painfully cold and the steam room was out of order for the majority of the morning. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Overall I feel I wasted money on a spa weekend when I could have visited my local virgin active. As an overnight stop off it is a nice stay, but as the advertised spa package I feel this hotel is not the right place. Collapse
Totally awesome stay

We have just returned from a weekend break at holiday inn, reading. This is a modern hotel with spa facilities. To start with the rooms, comfortable, spacious and has all the essentials for a short weekend away. As for the spa facilities, unfortunately the spa was fully booked but from the list of services, they seemed reasonably priced for great relaxation time. We did use the pool, which was fantastic. The kids really enjoyed splashing around. It did get very busy as you would expect from mid morning. As for the restaurant, this has to be the highlight. Really good quality food accompanied with excellent customer service. It really made a difference. We rarely eat in hotel restaurants but this one was different and offered fresh cuisine at reasonable prices. A big thank you to Joe, who provided excellent service in the restaurant and took the time to make an effort with our kids. He was pleasant, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Joe! We have already recommended the hotel as a great place to stay and dine. Collapse

My friends and I stayed at the hotel as part of a spa package deal and had a wonderful time. From the moment we checked in to the moment we left - the staff were efficient, polite, friendly and went out of their way to make sure our needs were met, if not exceeded. The hotel itself is modern and welcoming and the bedrooms we had were perfect. We really did have a fabulous stay. Collapse

We visited here on Saturday as it was both of our birthdays, me and my partner have the same birthday so we wanted something special! So we booked through last minute.com and got the spa deal which comes with a 25 treatment each, a bottle of bubbles in your room, your overnight stay, 2 course dinner and breakfast in the morning. We arrived quite early to check in as we wanted to get down to the spa, and when we checked in they told us that one of the beauticians was off sick so only one of us could have our treatment at 12pm so we were a little disappointed with that but we didn’t let it ruin the day! We then got some free drinks as a compensation for this and a lovely birthday cake delivered to the pool. We had sunbeds in the pool, but we did notice that if people were arriving after 2pm ish they found it hard to get a place to sit. We then ordered food round the pool and this was delicious. Arriving back to the room our bubbly was in the fridge and we had another lovely Birthday cake delivered which we thought was so thoughtful. Whilst getting ready for dinner, my boyfriend proposed so we had even more reason to celebrate! So when we went to dinner we were even more spoilt with another cake to celebrate- so three in total! Breakfast the next morning was scrumptious and lots of choice there on the breakfast buffet. The bedroom itself and the bed was amazing and I wished our own bed was as big and comfy as that and we loved the bathroom too. I would stay here again definitely, we actually would like to enquire about holiday inns for our wedding as we were so impressed and felt that the staff could not have been more attentive and thoughtful. I will write a separate review for the restaurant as we were told it’s a separate entity to the holiday inn, but we had the most amazing curry which we did not expect to get. It was top quality all round and we have some extra special memories at this hotel- thanks for making it all so special. Collapse
