We have an annual gala dinner with over 150 guest and this year we chose the Holiday Inn Winnersh and was not disappointed. Great event management team, brilliant venue, excellent food, especially when serving 170 guest a three course meal. Such helpful team on the night. We couldn't have had better. We have used all venues in Reading but Holiday Inn managed to impress even our most picky guest. Bedrooms also very impressive. Collapse

My sister and I was given a 1 night spa weekend for our birthdays. Upon arrival all appeared to be amazing, The receptionist who greeted us, he was extremely helpful, very polite and was smiling. The room its self was clean, tidy and specious. After settling we went down to the spa, which was one of the main reasons for the stay. The spa receptionist wasnt there to start with, so we had to waited 10minutes. We was given our towels and robes in the packages when other guests had it presented to them in fancy ties etc... the receptionist explained to us that we had to be there 10 - 15 minutes before our massage and if we are late then our massage will be cancelled, even though it has been paid for. We was given a form to fill in for medical and what massage we was having, which we filled in then and there 2 hours prior to our massage time. There wasnt enough sun beds or chairs around the pool. There was supposed to be a heated pool, it was more like a cold pool but heated room. wet sauna and dry sauna's were nice no complaints. We arrived for our massage 15 minutes before our time (which was the time we was asked to arrive) we waited and waited. My sister and I was suppose to have our massages at the same time in the same room. Our time came and we was then told that a couple are running late so we will have to have our massages separately, at different times. I politely asked the receptionist if its possible to wait, even if its later for a slot for a massage together, the lady rudely said no, there is no more slots. The massage we had no complaints about, my masseuse was slightly rude to start with and my sister masseuse was really nice. Later we decided to drive out for dinner. When arriving back to the secured hotel car park, we was denied entry, as the car park is full, we was rudely told that there was a function that is being held until midnight and that we had to park away from the hotel, in a free car park (we had a parking voucher for the secrured hotel car park, which was suppose to allow us to come back and park as we are staying in the hotel, this was not the case) As its my sisters and my birthday weekend we asked the receptionist if there would be any extra cost for us having breakfast in bed, we was told that there wouldnt be, as it is already included in our package. 9.15am came and the knock on the door woke me, i answered and 1 tray arrived with our breakfast. The staff member asked me to sign to say we recieved it. I asked her if i can sign as it is in my sisters name. To which she said that it was fine to do. Breakfast was ok, coffee dry, bland, old tasting, looked like thick gravey. Upon check out everything was fine until she said about servive charge £7. We questioned this, as a charge was not stated anywhere and told to us before when questioned. It was explained that there was a service charge for 2 trays. (Meaning two plates not actual trays) I decided to paid for this in cash, which the staff had then cancel the already made card transactions on my sisters card. (Which they should not have done so as it was my signature not the card holders) After leaving the hotel we looked on their website as this service charge was bugging us. It does state there in in-room charge of £3 per tray, we was charged though at £3.50 per tray. Collapse

Typical Holiday Inn, staff on the ball, new clean rooms etc. Restraunt trying to be above average so prices reflect this. I found the menu limited and was disappointed, I wished I had tried the bar menu that had a far better choice

We booked a room for 4 people and when we got there we had a room with two beds. One double and one single sofa bed. Asked Management for help and got no help at all. Had to sleep on the floor. The next morning we had breatfest and they then asked us to pay for an extra breatfest as we had a room for 3 people. The kids needed breakfest so we did told them we will discuss at the checkout. At checkout they still asked us to pay for the 4th breakfast and at this stage we refused. The reception manager was not helpful at all and did not resolve this issue eather. Collapse
