We chose this hotel primarily for it’s location as we were visiting Hampton Court Palace. We travelled from London by train to Surbiton which takes about 10 minutes. The hotel is then a 10-15 minute walk from the station The hotel was very modern throughout with Asian influences in the décor. Breakfast was a buffet style service with lots of hot and cold options. The staff were very helpful and friendly We booked a standard double room which was very spacious; plenty of room for two of us and our son (a cot was provided free of charge) The hotel also offer Executive rooms which overlook the River Thames After we arrived and unpacked we walked along the riverbank path to Kingston. For a relatively small town there are lots of shops, restaurants and bars. We ate at Steins German restaurant; it was pricy but nice for a treat! I can really recommend a trip to Hampton Court Palace; if you’re interested in the Kings and Queens of England, this is definitely the place for you. Highlights for us were Henry VIII’s Great Hall and Queen Anne’s bedchamber. Unfortunately, as it was raining we didn’t see much of the gardens and we didn’t even attempt the maze as we didn’t want to get lost. Collapse

Stayed for two nights while we went to Wimbledon to watch the tennis. Good location with just a short walk to Surbiton station. We were upgraded free of charge to an executive suite with a balcony overlooking the Thames. A good welcome from staff who were always polite, cheerful and helpful. The room was fine albeit the bathroom could have been larger. Breakfast was included in the rate. The reason I knocked off a star is because the breakfast should have been hotter as I dislike lukewarm food. An added bonus is that free parking is provided. We will certainly stay here again when we visit Wimbledon. Collapse
Spoilt by little things

We stayed at the hotel for a weekend. We had stayed before and always enjoyed our visits however this time we found lots of little things that spoilt the visit. The under sheet on the bed although clean had a black streak down it which I’m sure was probably just a laundry mark but still shouldn’t have been there. We stayed for dinner on the first night which was not inexpensive my napkin although nicely folded was very creased. I asked for a bottle of sparkling water which was served lukewarm with no offer of ice, after trying to attract the waiters attention for a few minutes I did indeed get ice but surely it should’ve been offered when the water was served. The next morning for breakfast they had no Earl Grey tea and every morning there was a wait for the eggs. The door of the bathroom was covered in fingermarks. Room itself appeared reasonably clean. Expect for a little misunderstanding about the price of the parking that is not included! Everything was fine! The price is a little bit too expensive but I think that the reason is because who chose this hotel is people that generally stay only one night for business reasons. Collapse

The description and photos are very deceptive. It is riverside, but you can't see the the river unless you have a deluxe room. The website states it has a panoramic restaurant however 360 restaurant is below ground level and gives a 180 degree worm-eye view of the carpark, and if there is a roof terrace, its not available to guests. There may be images of food on a table overlooking the river, but if this is what you want, you'll have to go down the road or book a deluxe river room. The first room allocated had hair from the previous guest on the side of the bath, was cramped, gloomy and had a rather small television. The window looked onto a central atrium, which gave the feeling of a prison - think cell block H. Mattresses were worn, my bed had been made up wrongly and the lumpy edge of the mattress protector was in the middle of the bed, possibly as the room was quite small and the bed was up against the wall. The design of the room with a glass door to the bathroom meant if you go to the loo, your friend will get a very good view of what is going on. When we pointed out our issues to the staff in the morning they were happy to move us to a different room. The second room which we moved to was better and had a view over the nearby industrial estate. The duvet/quilt must have been the thickest possible, in July I don't want tog 35. I wouldn't go back. I had the pleasure of staying at the HIKS for 10 days at the end of June, whilst in the UK on business, accompanied by my teenage daughter. Our check-in experience, handled by the always smiling and extremely polite Mohammed, was swift and efficient. We were offered assistance with our luggage, which we declined but were very happy to be provided with an ironing board & iron 10 minutes after arrival. The room was spotless, nicely laid out with sufficient plugs for charging devices. A hairdryer was conveniently placed next to the desk mirror. My only comment here would be the need for a larger wardrobe space and more hangers, as with 2 people on a 10 day stay it was a bit of a squeeze. Bathroom was spotless, clean towels every day and complimentary toiletries. The bed linen was not changed during our stay, which again did not bother us but I found strange given the replacement of the bath towels and general excellent standard of cleaning. The room was on the side of the hotel, so no view to speak of but this was not as issue for us as we were out for most of the day. My daughter enjoyed using the gym; said it was well equipped and not busy. Foodwise, the pizza ordered from room service on our first night was not up to par to be honest. Stone baked was the description but the base was soggy and had far too much cheese on it so we left quite a bit. I mentioned this to Daniela, the manager, the next day as I believed feedback would be helpful. The breakfast buffet was varied and plentiful, if a bit overpriced at £12 for hotel guests and £16 for walk-ins. You would have to have a very large appetite to get your money's worth. We used the reception safe facility several times and were pleased we could access at various hours given the round the clock staffing. We also used the (free) hotel car park; I did feed back to reception that single female travellers may feel a little unsafe given its location at the back of the hotel and was advised that I could stop at the front and ask to be accompanied. This would be useful to know on arrival. It's also worth mentioning that a risk assessment would be useful given that access is down a side road with no pavements and considerable vehicle movement due to car sales neighbours and car charging points. All the staff we encountered, from reception, to the dining area, to room service, to housekeeping, were all smiley, friendly, professional and went out of their way to help us and make sure our stay was enjoyable. Special mentions go to Dimitri, Christos, Alexis and Henry in the dining room and Mohammed, Dominic & Vicki at reception. Thank you all for making our stay a great one ! Collapse
