We stayed at the Kensington Close Hotel which is in a reasonable central location. The hotel is lovely and the staff are abundant and very willing to help which was excellent. The lounges and restaurants on the ground floor are very comfortable and sumptuous. We took this deal as a SuperBreak deal, which was excellent value for money, but our room reflected this. The standard of cleanliness did follow through from the rest of the hotel, but I think that our room was probably the linen cupboard before the hotel was refurbished. It was so tiny and my husband is an ex-prop rugby player. I could not get past him in the room. If you get what you pay for, we did get good value for money, but the room size was disappointing. The rest of the hotel was very good. Collapse

My room rate was £130 per night which I think was high for such a small cramped room without breakfast. The bed was hard and uncomfortable so I didn't sleep well. I booked here because it had a pool but that was £5 per person per day extra. I did go once, but it seemed that it was mainly used by local residents with many children in school uniform and was very noisy not the relaxing experience I was hoping for. Breakfast was buffet which was cold with barely cooked anaemic looking bacon. On Sunday morning we were awakened at 7am by the fire alarm which tripped out the hot water so we had to have a cold shower. Everyone went to breakfast at the same time which meant it was like a swarm of locusts going through and there wasn't much available. That day we forgot our vouchers which gives breakfast for £12 but we were presented with a bill of £39.95 which means that breakfast at full price is £17.50 plus service of £4.95. I did complain and get my money back but none the less this is a ridiculous amount for a very lack lustre breakfast which is self service and cold. However it wasn't all bad the room was spotless and all the staff work hard to give good service. I have stayed in Holiday Inns in America and the standard of food and value for money is much better. On the third day of our stay we went to Bill's just round the corner where we had a lovely hot breakfast for £8.95. I would thoroughly recommend Bill's. Collapse

I had afternoon tea here with two friends using a Groupon offer. The hotel were very understanding and helpful as I was running a few hours late. They let us change the time of our booking without any issues. The afternoon tea was lovely especially the scones and cream. There was plenty of food and attentive staff with top ups of tea and coffee when required. My friends tried the cocktails. The dining area was friendly and informal. We did not feel rushed. Would recommend the afternoon tea. Collapse

I've stayed in a few Holiday Inns, usually without issue. However I stayed here for two days and started to see a general sense of poor standards. Just a few lowlights: Kingsize room was ridiculously small. Ironing board fell out of the tiny closet every time I opened the door. Bedside light flickered constantly. Wifi was pitiful. The food in the restaurant (supplied as a conference lunch) was abysmal. Especially a bland dried out tomato pasta dish supplied for vegetarians. So on day two I went out to get some lunch and was rudely informed that I could not eat food the hotel didn't supply in the hotel seating area. It was suggested that I sit outside in the rain to eat it. I presume so other guests didn't become jealous of decent food. Breakfast was lukewarm, limited for vegetarians, and I had to ask 4 times for a bowl to put the self-serve yoghurt into as none had been put out. Overall just quite a sad experience. Collapse

We only stayed here as a place to sleep for London. We had payable parking in the hotel next door, it was cheaper to park there than with the Holiday Inn hotel. The hotel is lovely from the moment you walk in, the room was a small double, and done me and was perfect for me and my partner. Beds were comfy, rooms were clean. We didn’t have food but it smelt lovely. It’s a great location, there’s Kensington high street tube about a 5 minute walk away. Maybe less. As you come out the hotel you simply walk straight ahead and it’s at the end of the rd on the right hand side. There’s shops, pubs and restaurants here too. Kensington palace is about a 20 minute walk away, lovely walk on a nice day, can nose in the shops on the way too. We’d definitely go back, inface we’ve already booked! :) Collapse
