Checked in yesterday at the IHG Rewards Member Counter since I’m a loyal Gold Elite member. I asked the reception to help send a dental kit to the room and asked directions for the second nearest tube since the Kensington High Street Stop was closed as the front desk agent explained. The front desk agent was so lazy to help and just asked me to turn around and ask all these items from the Guest Experience counter. The room we booked has two single beds and added an extra bed for the first night. When we entered, it was extremely small. We barely had space for luggage. There was no refrigerator to cool food or drinks. We made a bit space for luggage and saw all the rubbish NOT cleaned prior our arrival.(see photo) We asked the bellboy who delivered our luggage to help inform housekeeping to have it cleaned and also change the duvet that was accidentally wet. We arrived back in the room with duvet changed and the rubbish still inside. As we were leaving for dinner, I went to the Guest Experience counter to report the situation. The attendant apologised and said he’ll have it sorted. I asked why there was no bottled water in the room and he said it’s only available for executive rooms or elite Reward Members. Unfortunately my Gold Elite status isn’t enough to get complimentary water bottles. Ive spent the last two weeks in the UK staying at Indigo Hotel, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express. This is the first hotel I visited that didn’t have complimentary water bottles. How sad that drinking water is not available in the room. The attendant said that as a way to recover for the filthy room, he would send 3 drinking bottles of water to our room, one for each person. Asked if we wanted still or sparking, we chose still water. When we arrived in the room, we were still greeted by the rubbish. It wasn't sorted out and we only got two water bottles, a still and sparking - it wasn’t what was promised - NOT 3 bottles and NOT all still. Sleeping was so difficult because the air conditioning was so noisy. On the second day, I called housekeeping to send someone to the room. No one came. I called reception for the same and no one came. I went down to bring my heavy laundry bag to the Guest Experience counter. They explained I missed the 10am cut off to receive laundry items. I told them, I called their housekeeping and reception but no one came to our room. I asked the attendant to call and check if it can still be received since it was only 10.10am, only ten minutes past cut off.. and they said it would have to be done tomorrow instead. There was NO effort at all to get the guest satisfied so I had to sadly accept that maybe this is just one of the horrible hotels Ive stayed at. Ive been staying in IHG hotels for 12 nights straight and this is the only time that Ive had such bad experience. Sadly, I still have two nights to stay in this 1-Star Hotel In Disguise of a 4-star rating. Collapse

My family and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Kensington for the past week. Convenient location (2-3 min to Kensington High Street and the tube stop) Enjoyed the hotel very much. Exceptional customer service by all staff. But I wanted to thank Alexandra at the front desk for going through all the effort and paperwork to upgrade our room(s). She really was outstanding and a wonderful ambassador on outle first day in London. But also to the waiters in the bar and the consierge staff, kudos for the food and drink. And thank you for setting up a cool tour of the countryside. With all the good things a few odd things to be aware of: There are some quirks to the rooms- while the room type might be basic or executive, suite; we found that room size varied a little even in the same room type. Bath tubs are tall and narrow, so if u have an older person with balance issues, request a walk in shower. Some rooms had USB plugs, some didn’t; so bring converters if coming from US. Room keys are very sensitive, so keep them away from phone and credit cards with chips- just carry the keycard in a different pocket. Breakfast is traditional English- cold, runny scrambled eggs , but other types available including omelets: good fruit, meats and breads and drinks: no waffles or pancakes available but good cereal bar: so overall great place to stay, location, staff, dinner are highlights: breakfast would be the only minor drawback. We stayed here for 6 days ,we arrived from Argentina from a very long flight early , we were so tired and and early check in wasn’t posible due to this hotel is always busy and guarantee check in is by 3pm however we were very lucky to checked in with Alexandra who was extremely understandable, cheerful and very polite. She really made her best to make our rooms ready , we also had some issues with the rooms, they were extremely tiny and the carpet wasn’t clean , again she deeply apologize and always with her smile and her professionalism she has turned all the table and made our stay memorable . We couldn’t say thank you to her for all her hard job, if you need support from the guest service go to Sam he is is willing to help you always . See you in December Collapse
