My wife and I along with two other couples stayed a couple of nights at this hotel. We arrived early Friday morning and were able to book in straight away which was great. We did the usual tourist stuff during the day Friday and returned to the hotel early evening and booked a table for six people for an evening meal which turned out to be a total disaster...waiting staff were worse than hopeless and the food was disgusting plus one meal never came and that was a salad! Also the drinks order got cocked up twice and quite a few of the beers and ales were unavailable and they even ran out of ginger ale! The manager James was quite apologetic but it did not cut it, we found the reception staff a credit to the hotel, especially the young girl who assisted me in acquiring a 7 seater for us to get to our destination and the young Romanian lady serving in the bar was excellent. Breakfast was good. Poor leadership and stock control requires addressing and I hope Callum reads this! Collapse

We stayed the one night as part of a coach tour, the room was nice - comfy bed and your usual bathroom with a few complementary toiletries. The staff were really nice and friendly and the food was good, something for everyone even the kids. The only reason I have not given this hotel 5 stars is because they added a 10% service charge to the food bill which I personally think is unacceptable. The restaurant was not full, we had to chase our drinks order, I got a spoon to eat a cheese board with - it was not 5 star service but I didn't expect it to be and I think most people staying here don't expect 5 star service. There was only two of us at the table too. A lot of customers in the restaurant (not on our trip so it's not like that was the reason for the charge) argued the charge with the waitress. Most people don't mind tipping when they had a good service but a compulsory service charge is not fair and other hotels do not do it and it actually disgruntles some customers. The charge is not on the menu neither does the waitress tell you when sitting you down so be prepared for the 'extra' on the bill. Others have also commented on this charge on trip advisor so it's another money making system Holiday Inn run and don't care what customers think as the majority probably pay without reading their bill. Warm, inviting, relaxing, spacious, streamlined, clean, are only the first words that come to mind when describing Holiday Inn Heathrow Ariel. My husband ran the marathon and all the staff wished him well and congratulated him upon his return. They went out of their way to assist with whatever he required as he hobbled in from the race. We are in the restaurant every night we were here, not because we lacked options, but because the food was exceptional! Delicious, fresh, and very well presented (presentation is everything!). The staff were attentive and friendly. I enjoyed our server, Georgia’s loverly, bubbly personality and Deepak made sure our food was delivered steaming hot. The restaurant manager was like a ninja-watching over his staff, available to them if needed, and helping out to ensure customers were serviced when it was busy. I wish I could remember his name! Definitely a stay again place for these IHG members! Collapse
