After booking our tickets and accommodation through Super Break it was just a matter of sitting back and waiting for our tour date to arrive. All the relevant tickets and information was sent via email which we printed off and took with us. On arrival to the Harry Potter Tour we collected our tickets and entered. We started our tour at 3.30pm and left around 7.30pm and all I can say is wow! There is so much to see and do it's a must for any true Potter fan. The only downside in my opinion is the food is very expensive so I advise you take your own but try the Butterbeer it's worth it. The gift shop is very pricey as well but you can make your own minds up on that one. We stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn in Borehamwood the staff were very nice and helpful. We stayed in a family room that consisted of a a good sized double bed and a single bed, there was tea and coffee making facilities and plenty of other creature comforts. Anything else was available via room service. We ate out in Nandos which is about 2 miles away in Borehamwood but there are plenty of other places to eat in the same area. All in all we were very happy with our visit and accommodation. Thank you Super Break for making this a magical break. Collapse

I stayed here the night before my wedding at the Bhaktivedanta Manor temple in Watford nearby, only changing from the Hilton as we were IHG members, but the experience was wholly negative. There were a number of organisational issues that happened even before we arrived:- - We booked 8 rooms 2 months prior; we called 1 month prior to upgrade one of the rooms to an Executive Suite. The day before we arrived, we called just to make sure the rooms were still booked and it transpired that the upgrade to the Executive Suite had also been interpreted as an instruction to cancel all of the other rooms!!! Fortunately these were rebooked - The woman at Reception was rude and dismissive, and managed to independently annoy every single member of our party - We had also booked one of the function rooms in advance, but upon arrival were informed that this had never happened - We were informed in advance too that the restaurant would be open in the evening, however when we went there we were informed by the manager that because it was a Bank Holiday that it was closed - The Starbucks at the hotel bar didn't have enough mugs, and in fact was asking us to give our mugs back so that they could wash them to serve the other customers! - Two of the rooms were next to the A1 and the guests in those were kept awake by the boy racers on that road. One of those rooms also smelt very heavily of smoke, not nice for a guest with underlying asthma Overall, not a great experience, and the only saving grace was Vic, the night manager, who saw how frustrated we were and sorted things out as soon as he came on duty, making sure we could hold our function and keeping it supplied with tea and coffee. The food in the restaurant was good, and we were well looked after for the rest of the evening. Everyone else however just seemed to abdicate responsibility. This seems to tally with a lot of the other reviews, and it is incredible how the quality varies massively within the Holiday Inn group. One expects a certain standard with HI, and this was most certainly NOT it. Collapse
Good Hotel, spoilt meal in a 'works canteen' environment

One night here, and standard Holiday Inn fare - a good clean well serviced room, nice staff, and a modern restaurant. But when it came to supper, totally spoiled by the failure of the hotel and staff to manage the environment. Despite it being a large and mainly empty, restaurant we were sat next to three young men, just in from their work. And when I say just in I mean that - still in their work clothes (and as plasterer/decorators that means filthy and sweaty/smelling clothes as the picture shows. Shouting to each other (for example I don't know who colleague 'Geraint' is and thus can't confirm he's a f****** and worse, as they claim, but then I didn't want this conversation three feet from me from table to table, anyway). Long noisy phone calls - and that after they'd ignored the loudest ringer for a minute. The staff say they can't do anything - rubbish. Firstly a basic dress code saying no dirty work clothes must be possible, or seat other diners away. Hygiene surely says that in a proper restaurant, folk should not be allowed when they're smelling badly of their daily work sweat. As it was I complained and we moved table ourselves after the first course (good buffet) and I've never had to do that before. This was after the chap on the phone in the picture leaned back, and I was faced by his black Emporio Armani underpants and his hand down the front scratching. In full view while I tried to eat. That was the final straw. Get a grip Management - this isn't good. Collapse

The best bit about my stay was leaving on the Sunday morning. I can honestly say in 25 years of regularly staying at Holiday Inn hotels this is the worst by quite some margin. It started with the lady on reception advising me that the room I’d booked wasn’t available (she really needs some training on customer service and having a cheerful persona) on advising of my IHG Member status a room was found. They’ve obviously changed their policy of putting lone females on the ground floor. The room was very tired, and boiling hot, the heating at been left on full, the bathroom was something else with orange grout and mouldy sealant. It just didn’t feel clean nor did I want to use it so I went back to reception to ask for a different room or a refund to leave. I was then given a second room which had wallpaper hanging off the walls, threadbare carpet and the bathroom was similar to the previous but not quite as bad. Having showered it became apparent the water wasn’t going to drain away. On drying my hair the hair dryer button was missing, thankfully someone had turned it on some way so it worked immediately it was plugged in. Food in the restaurant for dinner was ok but a lot of options weren’t available. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast the following morning was supposed to start at 7:30am but a lot of normal HI options weren’t out, in asking I was informed the chef was still cooking. On checkout I shared my disappointment with the lovely male receptionist who was the member of staff who I felt lived up to normal HI standards, he said he would get someone to call me. This still hasn’t happened a week later. If you regularly stay in HI and expect their “normal” standard I would strongly advise avoiding this hotel. I certainly wish I hadn’t been brand loyal and stayed in the Premier Inn. This was my sixth night in a HI in April all the others met or exceeded my expectations! Collapse

Yes the hotel's decor is a bit dated but the price is great, the location is handy if visiting London (as Stanmore is only 5 mins down the road), the staff are amazingly friendly and helpful and it is really clean and tidy.
