The location is good in the heart of Kowloon. Close to MRT. Meals and restaurants are ore expensive in the area. We go to Monkok for meals. I used one of my free nights for the night and breakfast does not come with it, even thought I am a Platinum member. Never had this problem in the US. Room was clean and quiet. Staffs were nice and helpful. They were repairing the AC system and the room and the entire hotel was warm. Collapse

Most certainly the proprietors of this Kowloon hotel couldn’t have known that I was born and raised not far from Toronto’s Golden Mile (like fashion, some marketing techniques are recycled, decades later). Being the first stop of the Airport Express was an added bonus, meaning my travel time from the airport (mostly on the high-speed train) was less than 30 minutes. My 6th floor room was rectangular, if on the narrow side, but featured a proper desk/lighting and numerous electrical outlets (as well as an adapter that actually worked--not so lucky at the Nathan Road Novotel a week earlier), allowing me to get my columns written and published in a timely manner. It took a bit of investigation to find the coffee drawer, but once discovered, I felt sure I would not lack for caffeine. A brief two nights before heading to Singapore, but few problems in a hotel that was close enough to the HK Arts Centre that I could walk in just a few minutes to the next performance. Collapse

The hotel is extremely well located for getting around. (Near buses and good shopping). We took the train from the airport and connected immediately to the shuttle bus. It is the first stop on the bus route that directiion. Going back, we took a short taxi ride to the train, so as not to stop at several hotels after we were picked up. We found the bar to be "ok" for a drink at the end of the day--quite noisy, though. The Chinese restaurant in the hotel was superb. Rooms, while not luxurious, were clean and comfortable, Collapse

We stayed at the Holliday Inn, Golden Mile in Hong Kong this past Thanksgiving. We always choose either Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express because we know they always have clean rooms, great amenities, and exceptional customer service. Unfortunately, this facility was the not up to par with our regular experience with Holiday Inn. Although its location is ideal, right near the train station and within walking distance to the water and the Ferry the actual facility felt short expectations. It looks very nice from the outside, and when we arrived we were greeted by a friendly Hotel staff and probably checked into a room by the front desk. The lobby looks clean and presentable; typical Hong Kong, with lots of mirrors, lights and Chinese décor in good taste. They have 6 elevators available and we never found ourselves waiting very long either go up to a room or come down to the lobby. However, when we immediately exited to our floor we noted a musty smell permeating through the hallway. There may have been some water leakage because there was a dehumidifier was running in the hall, but it did little to help with that musty smell. Upon entering her room, that musty smell persisted and may have even been stronger. Although it was tolerable enough that we did not change her towels, it was not a clean scent that we are used to at the Holiday Inn. The anterior of the room with spacious. There were 2 beds for our family of 4, a flat screen TV and even a mobile phone with a wireless plan that allowed us to access the Internet and make calls while traveling around the city. That is the first time we’ve seen a feature like this, but on reading other hotel reviews it sounds as this is common practice in Hong Kong which is a very nice feature. Review outside the window was the building next door that looked like a factory shop where you could see people working on textiles. We mostly kept the curtains closed to prevent the factory workers seeing us in our room. They provided bottled water in the room, and there was a hot pot to boil water as well as tea bags. However, there is no coffee (instant or otherwise), and no place where you could easily purchase it in the hotel. You could go to the buffet and order take away coffee, but it will end up costing about $6 per cup of average tasting coffee. We ended up walking to Starbucks that is a few blocks away every day to get a cup of coffee. Although it wasn’t too far, but it did rain a few times and was inconvenient. It seems that having a coffee machine or place in the lobby or you could easily get a cup of coffee should be standard for hotel such as Holiday Inn. We did feel safe and secure at this hotel which is another one of the reasons we return to this chain. Card access is needed to go up the elevators and there is always ample staff around the lobby to help give directions and to keep out potential troublemakers. There was a good looking restaurant in the hotel that advertised really fresh-looking seafood. However, it was very expensive so we avoided the hotel restaurants and went his very good places at the Lady’s Night Market and near the waterfront. So overall the stay at the Golden Mile Holiday Inn was a little less than we expected, but still good enough to keep us coming back! Collapse
