Holiday Inn express stoke on Trent, where to start... Booked this hotel a couple of months ago for a base for a day out with my family. We booked for x2 adults, 1 child and an infant- we rung up to book so they knew the numbers and ages and what we required. A couple of days before arriving we rung to make sure the cot and sofa bed would be set up before we arrived as we were getting there late and the children would be asleep. They said yes they would be, complete with bedding. Fantastic we thought! Got there at 9pm, upon entering the room, the sofa bed wasn’t made up at all! And the cot yes was built but just had a sheet- no pillow, blanket nothing. We called down to the front desk to ask for bedding for the sofa bed for our son at 9.20pm, they would bring it straight up. No sign of it still when we fell asleep at 11pm. ( after travelling 4hours we were in no mood to be awake any longer). So our sons slept under towels on the sofa bed with no sheets on the mattress and no blanket on the cot either. We had to re ask again in the morning for the sofabed bed to be re-made at front desk. They had no record of us asking the night before. Great fri night staff!! We go out for the day sat, to get back about 4.30 to find hell has broken loose. The football was on... now when we initially booked this hotel there was no mention of it being next to a football ground, we had no idea! When we tried to get to get back to the hotel we couldn’t- the car park was locked up to prevent supporters parking there. We had a booking for dinner at the harvester next door and we couldn’t get into the car park! What do we do!?! It wouldn’t have been hard for a bit of customer service from the hotel to say when we booked ( or rung a few days before), or even when we checked in! there was a match on that day and they lock the car park up so no one can use it?? Nothing from the hotel- utterly disgraceful. If we’d have known we would have stayed out till the match was all over with and got dinner elsewhere, but with 4 tired children between 2 families we thought the harvester would be a great option as right next to the hotel. Well we were wrong! There were no provisions for paying hotel guests for these circumstances, no information about it, no solution, nothing. What do you suggest we do???? Only saving grace of that day was the sofabed was finally made up so our boy actually had a bed to sleep in with covers. Still no blanket for the cot though. Breakfasts... we had two mornings there... the breakfast was absolutely disgusting- the scrambled eggs were going hard and bacon was just rank, sausages were cold. Food was obviously all left out far too long, barely any fruit. My sons love their breakfast and even they were put off by the food- which speaks volumes! You also need some sort of policy for guests dressing as there was a group in their pjs- adults having their breakfast, What’s that about? Suffice to say this hotel is dreadful- us and our friends would never recommend this to anyone. I would seriously warn people to stay away, even though we only used it as a base- it made a huge impact on us and annoyed us greatly, a hotel should look after its paying guests a bit more and the customer service needs a great deal of work. Never staying here again. Collapse

I travel to the area on a regular basis and have stayed in most of the decent hotels. What attracted to this one was the price. The hotel is located adjacent to Stoke City football club so finding it is no problem. The car park is quite large and access to the hotel is really good, anyone with mobility issues will approve of the access. Check in was easy. Our room was of a decent size. It was furnished ok but if anyone is staying for more than a few days lack of drawer space could be an issue. The bed was comfortable and unlike some hotels there was a decent amount of sockets for charging electrical equipment, with an additional single socket under the mirror having 2 USB charging points built it. The double socket under the window could easily be missed. The bathroom has one of those annoying dual purpose doors however the shower is of a good size BUT it does have a high step, for some, into it. Breakfast is of a buffet type and is unlimited, I did find this the only visible flaw with it only have a limited selection of hot food. The staff are friendly and efficient. I will definitely stay here again. Collapse
