Decide to have a nostalgic visit to Thanet where I had many holidays as a family staying in a caravan. Pleasant trip to Canterbury. River trip worth going on. Recommend park and ride. Hotel was easy to find, bright clean and comfortable within easy access to other places and near to village of Minster where there are pubs a supermarket and other small shops and a popular indian restaurant. Pity that the hotel restaurant is only open Monday to Friday. Many attractions around, plenty of coastal walking, cycling(the viking trail) and seaside towns. Broadstairs still looking much the same after all those years. Good beaches and cliff walks. Parking difficult at weekends. Manston airport worth visiting if you are interested in aeroplanes. Stopped at Whitstable on the way home. Busy lively town and greast for fresh seafood!. Collapse

My family and I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. Claire was very helpful when making our booking and ensuring that we had a conjoined room for my goddaughter. She was also lovely in person. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. They were a good size and the bathrooms were nice. Breakfast was included and was great. Really delicious natural yogurt and fruit compote. We will definitely be staying here again when visiting family. Two weeks before we stayed at the Bell Hotel in Sandwich for 3 times the price and had the most dreadful experience. Staff were incredibly rude, beds uncomfortable, food average at best, and no one cared that we had a terrible stay. At the end of our trip we found that items had been stolen from our room! When we rang the hotel they didn't care about that either! Next time we are in the area we will stay at the Holiday Inn. I heartily recommend it to anyone. Collapse

I don't like to be That Guy who moans about things on TripAdvisor, but we were very disappointed by our visit to this Holiday Inn last week. We were told when checking in that breakfast would be served between 7-10am, and were surprised to find at 9:35 that the staff were busily packing everything away (no hot food left, no bread, no plates, no cups). I was told by a member of staff that we had been misinformed and that breakfast was actually supposed to finish at 9:30. My protests eventually led to my receiving four slices of toast which I didn't really want - I'd been hoping for a proper cooked breakfast. The staff did later issue a reduction on my bill but I was still somewhat disappointed that the breakfast I'd been looking for was not forthcoming. The one error of communication aside, the staff were reasonably helpful and gracious in general once we had established what had happened. The room itself was also unimpressive - the keycard reader on the wall fall apart in my hands when I arrived and the room itself had a faint but noticeable damp smell. I'm afraid to say we wouldn't really recommend this Holiday Inn and having had a disappointing experience, we left thinking that we'd better find somewhere else to stay the next time we visit Minster. 2nd floor, back room despite being opposite the lift area entrance it was quite. The room was a refurbed room nicely decorated, paint and fabric type wall, beautiful floor to ceiling curtains, going across end window wall and around onto side wall, LED strip lighting behind curtain valance box, downlighters on opposite wall above the bed, small corner table with dated chair that didn’t match but contrasted, gone is the tired fold up bed setter leaving space for a second chair like a arm chair, and/or a suitcase rack but none provided hopefully there will be. Bathroom, at long last, had an ingenious bifold door replacing the ubiquitous shower curtain that the uninitiated (not me) used to overhang the shower tray and flood the floor. Whole area was spotless and a credit to the housekeeping staff. (Photos have been posted following this review and worth a look with regard to the curtain lighting ;-) ) Once again on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day there was a party of 40 or so happy and outgoing people of special needs calibre. One in particular enjoyed seeing our Christmas jumpers. My wife - a residential care nurse (not attached to the party) - chatted to one person who seem delighted with her chat. The pleasant reception staff were on the ball. Overall a pleasant stay, as short as it was, and a good start to Christmas. Further, we are grateful for the Hotel’s local residents’ Christmas discount provided in our daughter’s local village newsletter which helps our Christmas visit to the grandchildren in the neighbouring village. Thank you Ms Minton, Sam et al and Happy Christmas to you all. Collapse

I stayed here a week ago - Saturday to Sunday. The hotel was very clean and the room brilliant - simple no fuss but spotless - I could not find a fault for a budget hotel.... also there was a TV in the room. The staff were brilliant - very helpful with any questions I had. This is a brilliant really well run hotel - the price included breakfast - help yourself to scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages and beans - as much as you like - also cereal toast and various other items and as much tea and coffee as you wanted. The Ritz it wasn't - but for a budget hotel at a great price I was very impressed indeed. It was so nice - I have made another booking when I go down again next time to visit Family. Very peaceful - quite and a nice bar if you fancy a drink.... A lift to the three floors. You really can not go wrong.. A brilliant stay...at a great price. Collapse
