This must have been a recent remodel. Loved it. Very clean updated rooms with great mattresses and labeled pillows. Each family member got a great night sleep. Large tv for all to view. Good channel guide. Good towels, lighting and tons of outlets and USB ports for all of our electronics. Friendly staff and great breakfast. Lacks a big pool, but I have to recommend this hotel since EVERYONE in our family slept well and liked the hotel. A rare happening. Well done HIE. We will be back. Collapse

(While this review is long, you may learn something of value.) My wife and I were on a dual purpose vacation when we booked this Hotel. Our original plan was to first stay at the Holiday Inn Orlando SW Celebration area and then move to the Holiday Inn Express Orlando International Drive location. However, after we arrived in Florida, we found out that we needed to change the HI Express Orlando International Drive location because the (Spring Break) actual travel time to Disney World was 45 minutes each way. We verified the time by driving the route ourselves and talked with a few local people who told us that during spring break the trip could take up to an hour. This was upseting because prior to booking, I had called the Holiday Inn Express International Drive, to ask about the travel time to the Disney parks during spring break and they told me that it would not be more than 15 minutes from the hotel. After reviewing our reservation, I found that if we cancelled it that day we would not be charged a one night cancellation fee as it was more than 72 hours in advance. I immediately called the Holiday Inn Express International Drive to cancel the reservation and was told that in order to cancel the reservation, I would have to talk with (Raymond) the general manager. I asked to talk with him and was informed that he was not available and I would need to call back later. I called back two hours later and was told that the GM (Raymond) was off duty and I would have to call back. I told the operator that if I waited until the next day I would have to pay a one day cancelation penalty. She said that she could not help that and I would still need to talk with to Raymond about that. The next morning and again called, only to be told that Raymond was again unavailable. At this point, I felt that either the GM, Raymond was avoiding me or just did not care about me as a guest! I nect at to the front desk at Holiday Inn where we currently staying. After I explained the situation, I was told me that maybe I should talk with (Omar) the General Manager. I asked if he was available and was informed that although he was off duty, he was still in the building and they would try to track him down. I said that would be fine and I would wait in the lobby. Within 5 minutes the GM, Omar was standing in front of me asking if he could help me. After a very brief conversation Omar told me that he would like to try and handle the problem for me. I said that would be ok with me and told him that when we did our original reservation his hotel did not have any rooms available for the remainder of our stay so, could he please help me find a location within 20 minutes of the Disney Parks. After a few minutes Omar informed me that he could in fact extend our stay at his hotel and he had a room that was a King room with a balcony and a large bathroom. Although this was an upgrade from the Queen Room we had, Omar informed me that he would only charge us the (Standard) room rate. He did this as a way of making up for the problems we had with the staff and manager at the Holiday Inn Express Orlando International drive. The next day Omar told me that he had talked with a manager at the Holiday Inn Express International Drive. He told me that while he could cancel that reservation, the HI Express International Drive location was not willing to cancel it without charging me a one night ($137.16 plus tax) penalty even thou I had witnesses to the fact that I called the hotel to cancel prior to the deadline. He also told me that, given the situation, if this had happened at his Holiday Inn he would not have charged the penalty. I thanked him for all his work and told him to cancel the HI Express reservation and continue my stay at his hotel. At this point, I thought that the problem was solved. Although it was going to cost us a one night fee of $137.16 plus tax, I still felt relieved that it was over. I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG! After returning home, I reviewed my IHG charge card statement and was shocked to see that the Holiday Inn Express Orlando International Drive had charged me the one night stay of $154.31 including tax as well an additional $287.95 with tax and then credited my account $90.00. This meant that they were charging me a total penalty of $352.26. This is more than a one night stay at a Disney Hotel! It took 2 1/2 hours and 3 conversations with various people at IHG customer service to get the problem handled. Even after IHG talked to the GM at the HI Express International Dr. and what happened he was still not willing to change his decision. So IHG decided to refunded all but $90 of my money in the way of a check. Collapse
