Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised, the reception area of the hotel was bright and clean and I was feeling positive about the trip. Helen at reception checked us in, she was lovely and one of the best bits about the hotel. It was distracting that the young lad that was checking the couple in next to me had 2 large stains on his shirt, not the best advert when you work front of house. We went up to our room at slightly after 3, the time we were advised we could check in, when we arrived to our hotel room the cleaners were still in. I appreciate that it is a large hotel and many rooms to clean however if they are struggling for time then maybe they need to employ more cleaners or push back the check-in time. We had to come back downstairs for 10 minutes and sit in the bar and wait. When we got back up to the room (215) we were horrified. The room smelt overpoweringly like BO so we had to open the window as wide as possible to air it out. There were significant dirty marks all over the wallpaper, more so over the headboard of the bed. There was dirty stains all over the carpet. There were stains on the bed sheets, along with hairs...nice! The lamp next to the bed was hanging off the wall. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was disgusting, you would need to wash your hands after washing your hands! There were hairs in the shower also. I did not feel comfortable staying in this room and so went downstairs to complain. When I got downstairs there was a huge que in reception waiting to check in, looks as though they were from a coach trip. A older lady had also slipped in reception on some spilt water where there hadn't been any wet floor signs, I do not know the outcome however at breakfast the following morning she was in a wheelchair. When we eventually got seen I complained to the manager, he did not seem surprised when I listed my complaints and offered to get me moved straight away. Saying that the room I had been allocated was due a refurbishment...not kidding! The room we got changed to (219) was marginally better. There were still stains on the carpet however they were near the tea + coffee making facilities and therefore felt much more at ease about this as at least we knew what the stains were! There were still marks all over the walls also however the bed was much cleaner. Had I been able to get my money back, I would have taken it and gone down the road and booked the Premier Inn without a doubt as we've stayed there before and it's lovely. Breakfast the following morning was nice, no complaints there. Plenty of choice and everything looked great. Would I stay here again? Not a chance! Would I recommend? No. Collapse

Stayed here one night after a concert and had an all round good experience. Booking online was easy and I received email updates and reminder as the date drew nearer. The hotel is next to a great family pub for dinners and has a carvery and a cakeaway too. Also on the same site as the hotel is a 24hr McDonalds, a cinema, a bowling alley, Frankie & Benny’s and a soft play. Finding the hotel was easy, straightforward with SatNav too. Plenty of parking directly outside the hotel. Unpon arrival I was greeted by a cheerful and helpful young man at reception who gave me my room key and directions to m6 room and notified me of check out time, the breakfast are and times and that the bar was open 24 hours. The room was clean and comfortable and there was a bathroom with large shower area and was well stocked with extra towels. Breakfast was surprisingly good for being including in the room price. It was unlimited self service with apple and orange juices, water, machine dispensing various coffees, hot chocolate and hot water to make tea with the various tea bags available. There were different cereals, fruit, croissants, rolls, nice bread and toasters, jams and marmalade. Hot options were sausages, baked beans, bacon and scrambled eggs. There were baps and bags available so you could make yourself a bacon and sausage bap to take with you. Breakfast stopped at 10:30. The workers were friendly and asked everyone still there if there was anything else they wanted before it was cleared away. I was impressed with the service. I enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn Express, having used this hotel chain in USA before but not in UK I was pleasantly surprised at the service and facilities and value for money and would now chose this hotel group above other national chains which I have been using. Visited this hotel while on a business trip. The staff were friendly and welcoming and my room was very clean and spacious. I did not arrive at the hotel until gone 9pm, so I was happy to find a "late night" menu in my hotel room offering pizzas and fries. However to my disappointment, upon going downstairs to order I was informed that food was no longer being served and the gentleman at the bar suggested a quick 5 minute walk to the 24 hour McDonalds up the road. The bed was very comfy and I was thankful to get a good nights sleep. The following morning I went down to the bar area to get some breakfast. Normally i'm not a big fan of hotel breakfasts but the offerings at this hotel were surprisingly large and very tasty. I was even able to throw together a sausage bap to take away and enjoy once I reached the office. Overall this hotel is very clean, spacious and the staff are very friendly. It was a shame that the late night menu wasn't really a "late night" menu but the McDonalds up the road is a quick and cheaper alternative. Breakfast was very tasty and for a small dining area they had more variety than i've seen in large hotels. I would highly recommend this hotel if your having a short stay in Nuneaton or around the Ricoh Arena. Collapse
