Good reception, fairly well designed, got room upgrade but got super king instead of twin beds not massive problem but rooms smell really bad of smoking, not really hotel fault just prat’s before who can’t be bothered to go outside, plenty of parking and Macdonald and subway and pub 2 minutes from door. Hotel bar same price as pub but not as much choice, easy seating area not to bad to be fair, is what it is good overall really more idea of what you are getting rather than b&b and easy to get to just be aware that it is on left just of roundabout near subway because signs are wrong side of drive. Tv signals rubbish but that’s probably not why your staying here Collapse
Needs a bit of updating

I stayed at another Holiday Inn Express this week & compared to that one this one needs updating. Some of the paintwork looked a bit shabby & so did some of the room furniture. However, staff were friendly & breakfast was up to the usual standard.

We have just checked out of this hotel and felt urged to write an immediate review. We stayed the night with you as we were attending a friend’s wedding in the town. Having travelled over two hours drive from home we needed to change into our clothing for the wedding - meaning we needed our room earlier than normal check in. This was not a problem at all and the gentleman on the desk (Mark?) could not have been more helpful in getting a room sorted for us ASAP. Having then attended the wedding, we arrived back at just after midnight to be greeted by two very helpful members of the team, providing us with a large jug of iced water and fan for the room!! Breakfast was lovely and plenty of everything was available. All in all, everything about this stay was excellent. Thank you. Collapse

Unfortunately the hotel let a large number of guests down today with the abysmal service at breakfast. Arrived at 9 am to a long queue who were waiting patiently for hot food to be brought out from the kitchen. Eventually hot food started to arrive in dribs and drabs and by the time everyone had waited and got something the line built up again with no hot food avail at all. My family and I got up and waited in line from 9.15 (15 minutes before breakfast officially finished). We waited and waited and waited until 9.30 came at which point the only chap who was on duty to clear tables came out of the kitchen to announce that it was 9.30 am and breakfast was now finished. The whole restaurant went quiet completely dumbfounded by his loud announcement and the 10 or so people in the queue were left with nothing. We went to see the manager who informed us that we should have arrived earlier. I pointed out to her that we did in fact arrive at 9 am and that they advertise to serve breakfast until 9.30 am and therefore they must serve up to this point which they clearly had not achieved for their customers. They agreed to put more food on so once again we went back and queued up. After 15 minutes they bought out hot food again in dribs and drabs so everyone had to continue to wait until all the hot food arrived. After everyone had stood waiting for eggs we asked the same chap when the eggs would be coming as he could see we were still waiting (for something!!!) at which point he told us they had run out of eggs!! What a joke, no common sense to communicate with customers who were "clearly" waiting in line for something. So we made up a small plate of what they did cook which was just bacon, sausage and beans (that is a full English breakfast apparently) to then be told after having to ask that the knives were in the dishwasher. Well how do you expect us to eat this scaled down breakfast which was now cold???? At this point my family and I decided enough was enough, it was a complete shambles with only 2 members of staff trying helping all those customers from a big concert the night before. Having had no breakfast I asked for a refund only to be told by the manager that the breakfast was free anyway! I don't consider £137 for a basic hotel (not even as good as a Premier Inn) to not include breakfast. After persisting she eventually gave me £7.50 x 2 for the 2 rooms I had booked and paid for. £7.50 being what they allocated per room for a breakfast. If that is the case then I am not surprised at how poor it was and how many other guests were complaining at the same time. Interestingly though the poor guy stood next to me did not get a refund and neither did another couple. Inconsistency of how to look after their customers when clearly they are in the wrong. The hotel needs to improve its focus on the customer, improve its planning of staff levels and when big events are on at the Ricoh stadium needs to properly forecast food requirements. Simply not good enough for what they are charging and we will not be staying here again. Collapse

A lovely friendly welcome in a light spacious reception area greeted us on our arrival. Our room had lovely décor with ample storage. All the staff were attentive and friendly, great credit to the young man in the breakfast room who was replenishing the hot and cold buffets as well as clearing the tables. The breakfast was lovely, I could not believe it was included in the price. Only two slight down sides, the traffic nearby was continuous throughout the night so perhaps another room would be better and I would have liked a bath non slip mat in the shower. Over all superb, one of the nicest I have been to to Collapse
