Stayed for 2 nights in mid April. A VERY cheap hotel. 1) No sound proofing between the rooms, and especially from above. You can hear all the bouncing around at all hours of the night and morning. 2) Be extra careful when you check out. They charged me twice (once chip and pin, and once without the card being present) and then claimed that I had paid for a colleagues room. It has taken 2 days of complaining but still no refund despite numerous telephone conversations and promises. 3) No food on the premises apart from tea and coffee and a basic buffet with beans and sausages. 4) TV didn't work - not even with new batteries in the remote. Staff unable to fix. 5) Internet slow at the best of times. Email took ages to download. Hotel claimed that there were too many guests using the internet (isn't that what's it there for????). 5) Not good value for money. 6) Arrived early (10.00am) but they did not let me check in till 2.00pm. Claimed all the rooms were busy being made up. Collapse

Could not fault the staff or the cleanliness and the location is great for bars, shops, restaurants and the train station. However after being recommend by family and friends about Holiday Inn, I’m afraid to say it’s not as good as other competitive hotels. We stayed for 2 nights whilst going to the Grand National. First of all we got given the wrong room key and ended up in someone else’s room with all their luggage still in there! The guy on reception advised there had been a mix up before offering us a new room. This concerned me a lot due to the lack of communication and the fact we had access to someone else room!! The breakfast was average, continental consisted of croissants, muffins, cereal, bacon, scrambled egg, sausages and beans. All cooked and tasted great. Only downsides were the toaster, took forever and also the coffee from the machine was vile!! It filled all the way to the top of the mug so you couldn’t even top it up with milk! The rooms were ok. We had a balcony room over looking the front of the premises. Nothing special or wow factor. Over all it did the job but was expecting a lot better and more for our money as we paid £210! Collapse

Although the hotel itself was nice and clean with professional staff, I was very disappointed with the food choices for vegetarians. We wanted to relax at the hotel and not go out after a long day of travelling and siteseeing but when we went to order food, there was no margarita pizza and only a few veggie options, in the end I went for a panini (rock hard) and the children had to have the largest stake chips I ever see. We also had no Wi-Fi the whole time and the tv was being very temperamental. Not the best experience I've had. Very disappointing Collapse

Have stayed here several times. Unfortunately on the occasion our sleep was disturbed by a wedding party ans screaming children. Admittedly this is not the hotels fault and they have moved us to another floor. What is in their control however, are the fire doors in the corridors that make 4 loud thuds every time someone passes through. Of course fire doors are necessary, and must be self closing, but there must be a way of lessening the noise. The breakfast was very good - the best we have had in a Holiday Inn Express. Collapse
