A great hotel in a good location for Gatwick Airport. Stayed with family for one night before an early morning flight and was not let down. It is about 10 mins away from Gatwick North Terminal and the price was OK. - Rooms were clean and fairly spacious. - The folks on reception duty were helpful and polite - Proper breakfast doesn't start till 6am (I think) but we needed to leave at 4am but the hotel provides continental breakfast for those early starts. Would definitely stay again. Collapse

i stayed here for one night after arriving at gatwick. i was very impressed with the property. it is not great per se, but the value makes me give it that extra point. 1. the check-in staff was amazing. it is always hard to find the right balance between friendly and polite. particularly since this is a moving target depending on the clientele. they did it very well. 2. the room was comfortable, clean and far far far better than what i am used to in europe. the wifi worked well. the bed was large and comfortable. the shower was clean. the oly issue i had was with the soaps and shampoo being in large pump bottles, but everyone is doing that now. 3. the breakfast was a nice surprise. it was anything special, but is was enough to get me going. The only issue i had was getting to the hotel from gatwick. there is no hotel shuttle, which is a shame. i would have happily paid like 5 gbp for a shuttle. the best option was local buses but i found those very hard to find. i literally walked around for an hour with google maps until i found the very small exit leading to the local buses. they should really spell this out on their website (go into the train station and then find the small door located that sort of looks like an emergency exit, cross the field, go under the underpass and find the buses), a map would have been great. so bottom line, much better value than the hotels at gatwick. they just need to work out the issue of getting there. We've stayed here before because of its situation - near our friends' house, although it's also handy for the airport. As you would expect from a HI Express, it's a basic hotel with no frills such as trouser presses or toiletries in the bathroom (shower and hand washing cream are provided). However, if you don't want frills, and aren't staying for long, it's a good place to stay. It's always clean, the beds are comfortable and we particularly appreciate the choice of firm or soft pillows. Breakfast is help yourself, with a good range of hot and cold food, including sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, baked beans, toast, yoghurt, fruit compote, porridge, and cereals. One thing we missed this year were the lovely warm breakfast rolls that we've enjoyed on the past, although there are baps to make bacon or sausage sandwiches. There is no restaurant for other meals, but there is a Harvester on site. The staff were friendly and helpful as always. Two things to be aware of when booking - there are no room safes, and car parking is charged for. Parking can be pre-paid at the time of booking or paid on arrival. A pleasant stay in all. Collapse
