Excellent location for major roads and right next to little country train station. Well located for trumpington park and ride into cambridge. Parking in cambridge is not recommended. However, sat nav took us the wrong side of the train line initially. Breakfast was substantial for a continental breakfast, included sausage, beans and scrambled eggs! staff very friendly. Room clean and ecologically conscious, being newly built. Would certainly stay again if in the area. Collapse

This is the third time we've stayed. NIce room, dark for sleeping, lovely bed, big shower. Rooms smart and modern with blue stripes, and everything is clean. Bring your own teabags as only two provided. We stayed in a room in the middle, overlooking the carpark, and no probs with the trains. There is a bit of a rumble but I think they stop around midnight. Lovely, efficient staff. The only downside this time was that I felt the breakfast was a bit of a let down. Cereal, pastries, yogurt, fruit compote, eggs, bacon & sausages. I'm veggie but I did have the eggs. They were dry and a uniform colour like Styrofoam - reconstituted dried eggs? The only fruit was the compote and it was a very sweet syrup with some unidentifiable fruit pieces floating. My husband didn't rate the meat. Quality is king! Coffee was from a machine and was on a par with Starbucks, so OK but not strong. Anyway, I would stay here again. Collapse
Hard to fault at the price

Not a busy railway line so only a few trains per hour and they stop running around midnight. Our room rate, which was similar to what the well known Inn and Lodge brands charge, included an excellent breakfast which theirs never do. Room was good quality. Parking is £5 a night. We would stay here again. Collapse

We choose this location or the Lakeside Holiday Inn when visiting Cambridge and have always had a great stay. We received an efficient and friendly welcome on check-in and this time our room was on the second floor nearly at the end of a corridor, so we were ensured a quiet time. We had a large comfortable bed, desk and chair, sofa, TV, hanging space and a couple of shelves for jumpers. There isn't a great deal of hanging space, but it is sufficient for a weekend stay. The bathroom was, as always excellent and immaculately clean. The height-adjustable shower was superb. We always opt to keep our towels for the duration of our stay by hanging them up, but these were changed each day. The choice for breakfast is not as extensive as the Lakeside hotel, but this is to be expected since it is an express and not an hotel. However, it is more than adequate for me. I had the fruit and yogurt, cornflakes and toast, tea and juice. My husband had the cornflakes, cooked fare and toast, with juice and tea. The glasses for fruit juice are very small, so one has to keep refilling them. However, there is the option to use the larger takeaway coffee cups. The dining area is nicely decorated with drawings of the Spitfire aircraft and black and white pictures of Second World War aircrews. The housekeeping and breakfast staff are all smiling and pleasant. The location of the hotel is good for accessing the park and ride site and the adjacent Red Lion is good for evening meals. Sadly, this time we were charged £5 a night for parking which was payable on arrival. We would prefer the room rate per night to be £5 more to encompass this charge, rather than pay in advance for the stay and then have to pay the parking charge on arrival. Collapse

Stayed for 3 nights to take in a day at Duxford IWM Museum and a day in Cambridge. Check in was straightforward and efficient. Still not happy that IHG charge additionally for parking at many hotels. Room was standard HIE, clean and efficient. Breakfast was generally good and an improvement on the old Continental Breakfast. Room was overlooking rail station but was not an issue. Quiet trains and double glazing! First issue was on morning of day 1 when it was discovered that the bottom shower door seal was missing causing minor flooding on bathroom floor. Reported that morning but nothing done to fix it whilst we were there! The billing issue as yet unresolved concerned a sneaky inclusion of a 10% service charge for a meal for 2 taken at the adjoining Red Lion which is apparently owned and operated by the hotel operators. After the meal the bill was proferred to me quickly to sign and then passed to hotel reception. Apparently the small print on the menu mentions that 10% is added automatically! Of course it can be deleted as long as you know it's there! Local management have so far failed to resolve this and IHG head office are involved! Collapse
