You can't go wrong booking this hotel for a good night sleep. First I was quite disappointed to be fair, as we booked the night before over the phone especially a room to the backside of the hotel, as we read that the rooms to the front can be quite noisy because of the traffic ( although this might be very soon belong to the past, as they plan to install new triple insulated windows). Unfortunately when we arrived we got a room to the front, as others where not available any longer. Which was quite very disappointing. We might have booked a different hotel to be honest, as I am very noise sensitive. Left without other choices and a pair of free ear plugs we enjoyed nonetheless a good night sleep, which was the most important thing for us. I have to admit that it wasn't superloud over the night anyway but was happy to have the earplugs. Beside of this I decided to give 4 starts nonetheless as the room was well equipped with even a cattle coffee and tea, plus quite nicely decorated, the Wifi worked perfectly fast and the breakfast was as expected basic but good enough for a good morning start. The staff was friendly and helpful and so.. 4 Star here you are. Collapse

I stayed for two nights as a solo traveller. I was given a twin room which was disappointing. My room was directly opposite the A38. Luckily I used to live on the flight path of Heathrow so can sleep through anything but I imagine light sleepers would have difficulty sleeping in my room. There were signs up in the room advising complimentary ear plugs can be collected from reception but I wonder how people would hear their alarm clock if that were the case. The main issue is the glazing is far too thin. There were also children running up and down the corridor fairly late at night (c.11pm) and around 8am in the morning. There is a car parking charge of £3 per night which again is disappointing. The road leading to the hotel does seem to attract a lot of lorries so I can understand why they have put a barrier in place, there was a car transporter parked on it both nights I was there. The reception staff were very friendly, I asked for a bath mat and it was no problem at all, One thing to be aware of - they will preauthorise your card (debit/credit) when you check in and they preauthorise it for an additional £20/night in case you have any extras. The signs say this is company policy, which obviously isn't the staff's fault but I was unimpressed with this. The all you can eat breakfast was disappointing - both the orange juice and apple juice tasted as though they had been watered down. The cooked breakfast consists of bacon, sausage, scrambled egg and beans. I'm not a fussy eater at all, but I have to be honest the sausages didn't taste of anything. They have quorn available. They also had bread (and a toaster), croissantas, some chocolate muffins, cereal etc. The waitress with the grey hair was really unfriendly, I said good morning to her and she ignored me, I thought okay maybe she's having a bad day (hey we're all human), the next day a lady asked her at about 10 past 9 if she could have some more beans, and she was clearly trying to get out of doing anymore due to the time (it will take 9 minutes, 10 minutes etc). My room was okay, it did look tired and showed signs of wear. It had tea and coffee making facilities and a tv. They also had free wifi. I was cold at night despite turning the heating on maximum so I took the duvet off the other bed and slept with two duvets. The bed was comfortable. The shower was excellent - very powerful. If you have forgotten some essentials eg toothpaste there is a sign in the ensuite saying that you can get some from reception. It does say complimentary but please people don't take advantage of this. The hotel is in an excellent location - there is a large Morrisons with a petrol station nearby, a McDonalds and there is a pub next door. This hotel has so much potential, however I wouldn't stay here again unless my employer for example was paying for it. Collapse
Nice hotel but a little noisy

Hotel is in a good location but adjacent to the main road. Did think that it would be a bit quieter during the night but I was wrong. Bar and breakfast area pleasant. Plenty of parking but the noisy night put me off a bit so for that 7/10

On the positive side, the location just off the A38 is convenient and the staff I came into contact with were all very helpful and welcoming. There is a Harvester and Miller and Carter if you want to eat out. Unfortunately the hotel is showing its age. My bedroom was dark and dingy with insufficient lighting to work in; the internal soundproofing was poor; and external noise was very intrusive. Given a choice I would not stay here again due to the poor quality of the rooms. Collapse

Stayed for one night here while visiting The national Arboretum. Rooms are clean and comfy, Staff are friendly and accommodating. Coffee and tea in the room if you want to have one. Breakfast is alright, typical English buffet but plenty so you can really fill up. The place was really bustling due to lots of children with their families in the hotel, and this Waitress GLORIA kept the restaurant nice and tidy and smiling as she went to her duties.... she is a worker bless her heart.
