My husband and I travelled to Berlin from 20th - 24th April and stayed in the Holiday Inn Express on Kurfuerstenstrasse. We arrived early and were given a room straight away. They gave us a quiet room at the back looking onto the courtyard. Room was basic but was a good size, with twin beds, tea/coffee making facilities, and flat screen tv. Lovely bathroom with a good shower. I would like to mention and commend the manager Lisa who on hearing we were celebrating our joint birthdays, gave us a box of chocolates. She also facilitated us staying in the room a few hours after normal check out, as our flight was not until 10:00 p.m. I'd also like to commend Elizabeth at reception. I didn't get the other receptionists' names but they were all incredibly nice and helpful. The hotel is less than five minutes from Berlin Zoo and Kurfurstendamm which is great for shopping. Local buses, U Bahn and S Bahn stations close by. We used the hop on hop off bus to get our bearings and it stops close to the hotel. Collapse

I stayed here with my girlfriend when visiting Berlin, and upon booking it I was not expecting the best - just a cheap budget hotel, with breakfast that will last us the day, and save us money on lunch. We got much more than that! We arrived, and the staff were very helpful in giving us our room early, when check in was meant to be around 2-3pm (we arrived at 11am). The room itself was very spacious with a very comfy bed, and an excellent shower. Germany seem to back the "one soft, one firm" pillow method, and this hotel obliged, and I must say the pillows were also very comfortable to sleep on, and I definitely had a good night's rest each night. The only downfall to the room was the lack of a safe - but this wasn't much of a problem as we didn't have anything too valuable, and carried our valuables with us. I would also like some sockets next to the bed (potentially on the bed side table) to make it easier to charge our phone. It was a long walk to turn off the alarm in the morning! When I booked the hotel and read they had breakfast included, I was only expecting a bog standard continental style buffet, and this is what we received. Food was very nice, and the pastries were warm, which was surprising, but everything met our needs, and we made sure we were up for breakfast each morning. My girlfriend and I are quite late sleepers, so the 6-10am breakfast slot was very helpful as it made it easier for us to eat in the morning instead of having to be up before a 8am cut off point as is the case with other European hotels. We left our luggage at the hotel, as they were very kind to keep it for us on the day of our departure. Upon check-out the staff were very kind in giving us a cute small packet of gummy bears each for our journey home - a small touch but a very considerate, that really made us value the staff even more. Not one staff member was rude or uninterested in our well-being, and we truly appreciated that throughout our stay. I would 110% recommend staying at this hotel - perfect location in the city centre, perfect price for a budget trip, and incredible staff. All coming together to give us the perfect stay. Collapse

Stayed here from the 10th-12th April and had a very good stay. The room was ok, with a view of the courtyard. Room was very warm and air con didn’t seem to do much, however with the window open (had some sort of bf net on it) made such a difference. BBC channel was offered to us but did not work, (not like we were going to Berlin to watch telly, but would’ve been nice to have on in the background). Room came with sufficient tea and coffee but not enough milk, staff were VERY welcoming which is what you want. As I’ve been to Berlin before, I knew what I wanted to see and show off, however was going to use uber to get to certain landmarks but was not working on phones so asked reception and they told us about the 100 bus which got us to the Reichstag/Brandenburg gate sufficiently. Overall the hotel was nice, staff friendly and breakfast was good. In short distance of everything also. About a €35/€40 taxi ride from Schönefeld. Collapse
