really nice hotel big room I had a double room just for me. bed comfortable and they give you a choice if you want soft or hard pillow thats nice. they really try and the room was ok but the luck of shampoo and soap was not that good. (they have something in the shower of both of them wasn't good) the stuff was great especially the manger that is really nice and helped me a lot location in near the train station 2 stops from airport one stop from Amsterdam central. did not find something to do around by foot (except siting at Starbucks...) One thing: when I came to the hotel I did know where to get in please put a sign or something is very confusing for tourists... (you have to go in ring the bell to the reception floor) Collapse

I would be considered a rather loyal customer with IHG and I have stayed in dozens of HI's and HIX's around the world. This was certainly one of the worst I've stayed in, which is a shame because the hotel has a great deal of potential. I'll start with the positives: excellent location, with a convenience store on the ground floor (Spar) with everything you could want to snack on. You can easily catch all forms of public transport from the hotel, either by train, metro, tram or bus, literally a stone's throw from the hotel. Free continental breakfast was well stocked and had a variety of traditional European-continental breakfast foods (ie. no scrambled eggs, no bacon or sausage, but plenty of cold meats, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, cereals, pastries, etc etc etc). The lobby area was also in very good condition. All staff spoke English fluently. For the bad: wifi wasn't very good, one of the lifts was broken for 75% of our stay which meant a long wait for lifts (as no one seemed to know how to use them, they'd get in ANY lift, even if it was going the wrong direction for them!). The hotel was going through a refurbishment of carpets which apparently led to cleaning delays. We stayed on a floor without the new carpets and they were in an atrocious and frankly dangerous state - huge ripples and folds in the carpet which were a major tripping-hazard. I've literally never seen carpets in such a poor state anywhere, let alone an HIX hotel. The guestroom itself looked nice but the mattress had springs that were completely worn through, the 'air conditioning' is actually 'climate control' which never worked, and we were given a room on the train-side of the hotel which meant we couldn't open the windows to cool our room down unless we wanted to listen to trains screeching past all night. All of the above would generally lead me to an Average/Poor rating but I had a really bad experience at the front desk which is why I'm rating this hotel as Terrible. We arrived to the hotel after our morning flight into Amsterdam so we could drop our luggage off. However, we were offered to go through the check-in process and I assumed, as it was 12pm and I was a Platinum IHG member, that perhaps we were getting access to our rooms early. Instead, I went through a 20 minute check-in process (overly lengthy) to then be told 'your room will be ready in 1 hour'. Well, as it was lunch time, and we were hungry, we decided to grab some lunch then head back (as my father had been flying for 24hours straight and was desperate for a shower and to change his clothes). We did so, arriving back at 1:40pm (check-in is officially from 3pm). We were told the rooms weren't quite ready yet but would be in a half hour. 40 minutes later, at 2:10pm, I asked for an update. 'I'm just phoning the cleaners now, I'll have a reply in 20 minutes.' At 2:40pm I asked what was going on. 'Your room isn't going to be ready anytime soon ma'am.' 'Even at 3pm?' 'Nope.' So having arrived at 12pm, at 2:40pm I finally get told we're not going to get access to a hotel room anytime soon. I asked what the point of checking us in was if we have no access to our room -- I was told it would 'save you time later when you return'. Right. So we grabbed our day packs and went out to Amsterdam for the day, but frankly, we were all tired and cranky as the hotel had put us all in a bad mood. After a few hours we returned and found out we'd only ever been checked in to ONE of the two rooms I'd reserved, despite my clarifying several times I had 2 rooms booked. 20 more minutes later and we've got keys to both our rooms but I'm beyond livid now. I asked to leave a complaint and ended up speaking with Jana, the manager on duty. We had a really good, frank discussion and she was very sympathetic. She did offer me a discounted rate, which was gratefully received. Unfortunately, I later saw guests going through the exact same problem (being 'checked in' only to then be told, oh by the way, your room isn't ready) instead of just being offered a luggage drop option (which has happened at literally every other hotel I've ever arrived early to in my life). They clearly had learned nothing from my experience and had no intention of changing their procedures. This coupled with the very poor standard room meant it was one of the worst stays I've had in a hotel in years. Collapse

The hotel is right next to train and metro station and pretty close to a bus station. 10 minutes far from airpot by train and 3 minutes far from central station. At the hotel hotel you can find a spar (supermarket). The location is really great. Check in and check out and easy and fast. The rooms are big enough for a couple of days and you will find it really confy. Despite you are real close to train station, you can not hear a thing in the room. The breakfast has lots of variety and a fabulous cheese. You can pick the food before the breakfast hour is over and then you can stay in the breakfast room as long as you want to finished it. If i go back to amsterdam i will probably stay there again. Collapse

We stayed here for three nights last December and thought it was excellent value for money. The hotel was located a short five minute train ride from the city centre and was on the the same line to to the airport. Very Convenient. It is in a quiet area no restaurants nearby but there was a Spar shop and a Starbucks. The hotel and room was very clean and well presented. The staff were all very friendly and the continental breakfast was reasonable and free for all guests. Overall, for what we paid it we thought it was great. Collapse
