I have a strong affection for Hotel Holiday Inn Silom, Bangkok for various reasons, including that in 2004, I had stayed here with friends for a holiday trip which is most memorable for me because, it was my first ever trip alone, with friends excluding family. So this year for a family holiday it was a sure choice to stay at this wonderful property. An hour drive away from Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Hotel Holiday Inn Silom is set close to shopping centers and market areas including the Phatpong Night Bazaar which is just a 20 minutes’ walk, restaurants and many othe entertainment activities. This hotel knows exactly how to spoil and pamper its guests with a nightclub, a sunbathing terrace and an outdoor swimming pool as well as the lawn tennis, table tennis and a fully equipped gym. The deluxe suite is a perfect choice traveling with family to stay in. it has a sitting room with a separate powder room and an attached bedroom with an attached bathroom. Surasak BTS Skytrain Station is just 10 minutes’ walk away. MBK, Siam Paragon, and few more shopping malls are in close proximity with Jim Thompson House Museum, Madam Tussaud, Sea Life and Lumpini Park is easily accessible by a cab within 15 to 20 minutes time frame. The entire staff is very courteous and helpful and always smiling. The chief concierge Dragon is always up for the best advice on tours, Bangkok itself, and how to save your bucks. The hotel also has a Tuk Tuk shuttle service and Wi-Fi service, however, the internet at this hotel needs to be improved as I was unable to connect it on my laptop, as well as even on my phone I would lose connection every now and then. Also I would suggest, the management to open an all Halal restaurant that may offer Arabic and Pakistani cuisines within its property to cater to Muslim clientele as well. Surely going to stay again at this beautiful hotel and as well as recommend others also to do so! Collapse
Excellent, well situated hotel, with first class service.

This was my third visit to Bangkok but my first stay at the Holiday Inn, Silom. I wish I had found it before! The hotel is well situated with a Skye Train station within walking distance. Lots of good restaurants nearby. The upgrade of my room was well worth the small extra cost. The staff were really helpful, especially the concierge. He produced individually tailored itineraries for me, to suit what I wanted to do. His advice was flawless. I particularly enjoyed relaxing by the pool. The wifi worked well throughout the hotel, including by the pool: a definite bonus. I was well impressed when I was offered the facility to shower and change before leaving for my nighttime flight home despite having booked out earlier in the day. This hotel may be large, but I felt personally looked after. Collapse

I spent a few days over my birthday in Bangkok and booked myself into the Holiday Inn. And I must say, I don’t regret my decision at all. I arrived in BKK at 6:00 a.m. and sent a message to the front desk the day before to ask them to clean my dedicated room early so I could hopefully get it earlier. When I arrived at 8:00 my room was ready. I was extremely grateful. Staff is extraordinarily nice and polite. The breakfast buffet has plentiful of variety of food and for my birthday they even surprised me with a little treat in my room. They also helped me with my sightseeing needs and I could book tours through them. I can only say, whenever in BKK I’ll most definitely book this hotel again. Collapse
Insect in the room, on the bed to be more precise!

I want to start by I travelled for work. It means, I have access to many hotels and resorts around the world. If you actually see from all reviews I have posted, it has all been kind and should there be something that hotels or resorts fall short of, I would address the matter right there and then, that is about it. But, I feel for this I should write this down in trip advisor. This was probably the umpteen times I have been in this hotel This time as well, I was lucky to get the room in the new wing which I am grateful for. I stayed on the 20th level. I totally understand being an asian myself, being born in a tropical country and with these high temperature sometimes, we got unwanted bugs/insects around because these organisms breed in such temperature. This was not my first encounter. Once, in the old wing of the hotel before it was renovated, I found cockroaches in the toilet. It was very uncomfortable to know there is such "stuffs" in your room. But, right that was the past. Other colleagues have mentioned the likewise. This time, I called for room service around 10pm or so and up until 45 minutes later it has not arrived. I called back and was told by the lady on the phone her colleague forgot to punch my order. OK, so I said I am very hungry and it is almost 11pm, if it will take more than half and hour more just cancel my order. In 10 mins or so, my food arrived. I was given an orange juice as a 'service recovery'. An orange juice at 11pm?. It is not even fresh and secondly why would I drink an orange juice (usually contains vitC when I am going to bed in a bit). I thought that was thoughtful but I think it would be better to ask me what I would like to drink if you want to make a service recovery (not that I will have alcohol). Anyway. I should be thankful, I guessed. Shortly, I went to shower. After that, I dried my hair and went to the bed to read some news. At this point I was already feeling very sleepy so I pulled the duvet only in horror I saw a cockroach just beside me. I was so shocked that I did not even scream. It was almost 3 in the morning! I did not know what to do. Should I call the reception to change my room or should I just sleep because I placed my stuffs everywhere in the room and if I change room it would meant I have to re-pack everything. At the wee hours of the morning? I do not think so. So, I took a note pad on the side of the bed and swish it off the bed. I was up until 4am because I was feeling disgusted and unable to fall to sleep. I felt so bad especially I had a massage in the evening so I was looking forward to have a good rest. The next day when I woke up, all I wanted to do was to just jump into the shower, get ready pack and leave. I went to the reception, gave my room key card and told the receptionist what happened. I quoted her. "this is a night insect, it is not a cockroach." Now I do not understand her 1. either she think that this is my very first encounter to see a cockroach in my life or 2. she is trying to manipulate my words saying this is an insect instead. What is the difference?! Whether it is a night, or morning or even afternoon insect whatsoever, what is it doing on a guest's bed? On the bed. Not even beside not even on the carpet. On the bed. Just almost reaching to your pillow where you place your head to sleep. Gross enough? I even took a picture. She kept saying she know this is not a cockroach. It is an night insect. Al right. You know when you have a solid education, and you know what you are talking exactly you do not go down to someone's else thoughts. I am not being judgmental or misunderstand her. I am after all a guest that stays for only 24 hours or less. I am sharing something that probably might haunt other people for days. Even ask me when will I be back, she would like to upgrade me to another room. Thank you very much. I can stay in the most cheapest room, totally fine with not even basic necessities but I would appreciate a clean and insect/bug free room. I have been to Africa and even have the wildest thought that probably a spider, or snake or scorpion even to be under the bed but surprisingly these places are so much more cleaner and free of all that is listed than here in this holiday inn Silom. This experience taught me that staffs of course would defend themselves and hotel but not listening to guests complained or take it seriously may result in much more complicated issue in future. Cleanliness is the most important factor in a hotel. Everything else can be improved but when the hotel is 'dirty', there is not much to say. I am swapping all my flights if I have Bangkok unless we change hotel. Collapse

I stayed in this hotel so many times. Today i had a very bad experience and the staff were not helpful or friendly at all! They might smile to your face but on the phone they are very rude! My room card was not functioning and i went to the reception to get another one, and still was not functioning. I used the phone in the corridor to call them and explain and waited for 30 min no one showed up, i called again and the lady was rude. I explained that i have a flight in 2 hours and i need to sleep before that. She still didn t send anyone and i waited for 15 min more and went down stairs to ask for assistance. She was arguing with me on the phone and not helping at all. Another call i made to receive my uniform before my flight and the lady told me it won t be ready on time! Seriously? Shall i just miss my flight and not go to work? First time to have a bad experience in Holiday inn Bangkok. Today i m very disappointed! Thank s to the very rude lady! Kaa Ps: area around the hotel is very nice! Everything is near by and the rooms are quit nice. Everyone is friendly at the reception when they see your face, except if you talk to them on the phone!!
