We stayed at Holiday Inn as it was close to universal and mainly wanted somewhere to sleep and chill out between theme parks! Room: Our room was large, two double beds and a generously sized seating area. It had a good sized fridge to store large bottles of water and snacks. The only downside was the aircon unit was very noisy. Pool: The pool area is perfect for its location. I read reviews of people complaining about hearing traffic nice etc but you're in the middle of Orlando, it's kinda to be expected. There was always free sun loungers, extra towels and music playing. There is no bar in the hotel but a quick trip to the Wall Greens across the road and you could grab a pack of cans and you are all set! Note, no glass is allowed in the pool area so don't buy bottles! Breakfast: Breakfast is served in TGI Fridays and cost I think about 14 dollars per person. There is a buffet and you get coffee and juice with that. It's fine for what it is, handy if you are in a rush. Universal: You can walk to universal in about 15 minutes which includes the time it takes waiting for traffic lights to change, they seem to take forever! At midday, this walk is not that nice, it's super hot with lots of traffic fumes. If not from US, remember cars can turn right even on pedestrian light, they are meant to let you go but just keep an eye out. Disney: Grab an uber, it's about 25 minutes away. If you plan to go to Disney multiple days there's a car rental place in the hotel that could work out cheaper then taking multiple ubers. Collapse

Holiday Inn is a standard hotel, the room is very spacious, also the bath room is ok. little bit noising due to traffic in the near streets. Breakfast normal, cleaning have to be improved. Services at front desk really helpful and efficient.

We stayed here for two weeks in April 2018 when visiting Orlando. The hotel is situated in a very good location for visiting Universal, we found that you could easily walk this (10-15 mins) and enter through the valet parking at Universal. However, you do have to cross a few busy roads, and so you can get a free shuttle from the hotel if you prefer - we found it quicker and more enjoyable to just walk. We also visited Disney and the Kennedy space centre while staying here - all which were in an easy driving distance - if you are staying here it is best that you have a car, as there is not a lot in walking distance. We had a suite which had a separate living room/kitchen, we found this to be an excellent size and great for having breakfast in the room before a busy day at the parks. The rooms are dated and need updating, but they are very clean. The pool area is newly renovated (I think) and it was great to be able to use this. However, there were some negatives about the hotel, in particular, rude staff members, I wish i had been able to get her name, she had short blonde hair. On two occasions she was really rude, and actually quite aggressive towards us, she made us feel very anxious, and there is no way I would speak to anyone the way she spoke to us, especially not a paying customer! We complained twice about the staff member, and asked our comments to be passed onto the manager (this never happened) instead they just kept offering us complimentary breakfasts at the TGI Fridays (not good enough). While we were staying there, a fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, and was handled appallingly, they locked the hotel corridor - which led to mass panic among guests. When we managed to make it to reception the rude staff member, screamed at us to stay in our room - no explanation was given, 20 minutes we had to sit through a loud alarm - no apology, or explanation of why this went off - and no one came to see any of the guests once it had finished. Terrible customer service. Also, the cleaning was very hit and miss, our room was only cleaned every other day (this wasn't explained to us in advance). Coffee/towels were often not left and we had to go ask for these - they should just be automatically replaced - it is quite obvious that guests need towels! Therefore, because of the outdated rooms and terrible customer service, I wouldn't recommend or stay here again. Collapse
