Stayed for one night while visiting family in the area. Hotel was clean, bed very comfortable, great breakfast and nice grounds. Can recommend it for anyone traveling in the area. Only disappointment was the view over the car park! Seems to have good meeting room facilities and there was a wedding going on when we arrived - but they still made time for us. Collapse

We stayed on Thursday 3rd Aug for 1 night! We stayed here for 2 reasons: 1) my partner needed to be near to Birmingham Uni as she was picking her son up from there on the Friday. 2) We have stayed at the Hogarth Stone Manor numerous times and wanted to see what the differences were? Location: The hotel is well signed posted from the main road and is located down a long drive past a riding stables (not sure if you can just turn up for a ride or not?) The long drive takes you straight to the hotel car park of which there are plenty of spaces. The Hotel & grounds: Is pleasant to look at especially from the garden aspect. The reception is clean and airy, with rooms being accessible down a small flight of steps or up some stairs to the first floor and is 'wheelchair' friendly if needed. There is a bar right next to the reception, which we had to make use of as our room was not ready when we arrived, though we were slightly early (13:40) The grounds and gardens are lovely and I fully appreciate why someone would want to hold their wedding there. The lawns are impeccable and look stunning even on a cloudy and wet day! The Bar: The Hogarth at Dorridge is not alone in this by any means but I do not understand the reasoning behind some hotels only having one beer or lager on draught ? Here at the Hogarth they have 'grolsch' 'on tap' with everything else either in bottles or cans (Guinness is in a can but with that widget thing on the bar, never the same in my opinion!) I declined to partake in a drink with my partner who was happy to drink the Grolsch, Then the staff member said she could go and see if the function room bar was open if I wanted to have a pint of 'Bitter'? She duly did and a pint of Worthingtons was delivered to me. Why is it available in the 'function' room but not the main bar is lost on me? We got a deal on our booking which included a free Cocktail, mine honestly tasted like it had no Bacardi in it at all and was all Strawberry yet my Partners was so strong it took your breath away! Did he put both shots in the one glass? The room: Our room was 112,The guy on reception said its a lovely room, nice and quiet? Unfortunately it was on the ground floor facing the carpark? Having the patio doors open is not really an option as you do get noise from the car park and in the morning the laundry man pushes his 'trolley' right past your open door, indeed he would have needed to close it to get past? The rooms are air conditioned and clean. The beds are lovely and have never had any issues sleeping in the Hogarth family hotels beds. Being so close to Birmingham and the Airport, there seemed to be alot of business people at the hotel and there was a wedding on the Friday. Restaurant: We booked a table for 9pm. Starters: I had Mackerel 2 ways, my partner had Prawns. We both thoroughly enjoyed our starters! Mains: My partner and I both went for the Canon of Lamb @ £25 each! Unfortunately this was not a good choice. Look at the picture that I've uploaded and compare it to what Canon of Lamb should look like from off the web? To be blunt, it was awful. By the time you had cut the fat off the Lamb, you were left with a piece of meat half the size it started out as. My piece was tough to the point where I just swallowed it and gave up chewing it, not to mention that it was so 'pink' it bordered on being not cooked! The Lamb should have been the highlight of the meal, unfortunately this accolade went to the .., Potato!? We did 'mention' it to the staff member whom as it happened we knew from the Hogarth Stone Manor where she previously worked, She passed on our concerns to the 'chef' and gave us £6 each off the meal, but in reality, even at £19 it was daylight robbery! Summary: Overall, I have to say it was a let down, when compared to its sister hotel The Hogarth Stone Manor! Maybe that is partly due to the fact that we have never had a bad experience at the Stone Manor and our expectations were too high maybe? I don't know, but with only seeing my partner every 4 weeks or so because of our locations and work we both left this hotel feeling that we wish we had just driven the extra half hour or so to the Stone Manor. :( Collapse

My husband & I got married at Hogarths in July 2017, we viewed many venues before choosing Hogarths, and we absolutely believe we made the right decision. Our wedding Coordinator, Helen, and Danny who ran the day, made sure everything ran smoothly and both did an amazing job and helped ensure I did not go all bridezilla. Everybody commented on how amazing the grounds were, even the ones who stayed the night, enjoyed a walk around them in the morning. The rooms were also so lovely, and the bridal suit (which we had not seen previously) just left us speechless. The food was superb (especially the bacon baps on the evening), and compared to other weddings we have been too, the portions were generous. The day was so much more then we could have hoped and wished for! Hogarths is an amazing wedding venue, which I would recommend to everyone! Collapse
