I stayed here for 6 days while I was in town for a conference. First the good things - check-in was good, the lobby looks great and the lobby bar was excellent. I also recommend a visit to their Cityscape bar which has great views but closed surprisingly early. Location is also excellent for Union Square, Market St and walking distance to the Moscone Conference Centres. Sadly I was in for a shock when I got upto the room. Tower 3 is in desperate need of a major refresh and most of the hotel has a constant hum from the fans and air-con units. After two nights I requested a room change, but both of the rooms offered in Tower 2 were worse than my existing room in Tower 3. If you are a light sleeper I would strongly recommend ear-plugs. In fact the staff offered me ear-plugs as they couldn't find me a better room. Collapse
Very Clean and Very Comfortable

My daughter and I went on a trip last week to SF and stayed here at The Hilton in Union Square. The check in process was quick and the attendant behind the desk was very courteous. We stayed in a double room with 2 dbl beds. The room was spotless and the beds were super comfy. My only complaint would be there wasn’t a lot of pressure in the shower. Great location!!! Only a couple of minute walk to the Powell St Bart station. The cable cars are right there also and there’s access to the MUNI there also. I would definitely stay here on a return visit. Collapse

After traveling all day, we arrive at the hotel, check in was smooth, as the wife and I were tired and needed a cup of tea to un wind, when we got to our room how disappointed we were, they had a coffee machine with 2 paper cups, 1 green tea and a decaf coffee and a stirring stick, how the Hilton standards differ from country to country, we had to ask tea cup to be sent to the room, also as we were leaving the hotel my wife and I were struggling with 4 suit cases and a bell attendant walk past us with an empty trolley and did not assist, we booked this hotel because of the good name Hilton Hotels have in Australia, Thailand and Vietnam, and I thought America was supposed to be bigger and better at everything. Disappointed Hilton. Collapse
Busy lobby, close to Market Street. Can be pricey during the week.

If you can get a room on a higher floor, I'm sure the view is awesome. I was in tower 3 on the 17th floor and had a decent view. The room seemed newly renovated. The little sofa near the window was comfortable and nice to look out at the city. Elevators were surprisingly fast. I had to wait a pretty long amount of time to check in even at 10:30pm - over half an hour, even though I was in the HHonors line. But apparently the hotel was sold out so maybe this was part of the issue. However, they only had 3 people at registration. If you know the hotel is sold out, maybe they should have a back up for the front desk in case a customer is holding up one or two of the three slots. However, the front desk was pleasant and helpful. I also would have appreciated instructions on WiFi log in at check in rather than having to call from the room and tie up customer service. The lobby has a bar, restaurant and little market with snacks, breakfast stuff and coffee. I utilized the gym and it was more than sufficient. No wait for any of the cardio machines on both days that I went. The room was ok. Weird to have the toilet so close to the sink area, but it's a pretty small bath. I wish the doors were sliding (like barn doors) rather than pull out. It's a pretty tight squeeze. I opened the cabinet door to the fridge and it would close again, so it just stayed ajar. The in room thermostat was nice and new and could easily adjust for you preferred room temp. The location is good, but also right near the Tenderloin, so there are a lot of sketchy characters roaming around. Overall, I would come back depending on the price. It was pretty expensive, but also a last minute booking and apparently there were some big conventions in town. Collapse
Very crowded lobby, lacks character! Would never recommend!

From the moment I walked through the front door, I was stunned by how awful it felt, like walking into a casino or airport. Dozens of people were sitting and milling around, a large bar blocked the registration desk, and then there was a long line to register. I can't imagine why anyone would choose to stay here, it wasn't even a good rate! The room was fine, but the area the hotel is located in is not interesting or clean, and it's just not a good feel overall. So many better places to stay, imho. Collapse
