Even prior to check in when I called to to add my HHonors number there wan an endless automated prompts before I was assisted by a person and was told that since work is paying for the room and this is a group reservation that I CANNOT add my HHonors to my reservation despite having a separate reservation number. At check in many of the staff were blase to offer any more assistance than necessary. When I asked about adding Hhonors number one lady at front desk finally did it begrudgingly after I said that this would have been the first time Hilton ever refused such request. Despite beautiful view from the room, windows are so dirty that taking a picture of the beautiful vista is not possible. In the morning of the sixth of our eight days stay, there was a fire on the higher floor but we didn’t get any information and left distressed waiting for an elevator to get down to start our program. I myself waited for over 10 minutes for an up elevator before being able to get down to the lobby. Noticed of the incident was only distributed later on. Overall it is ONE OF THE WORST HILTON I have ever stayed in. Having said that I do find the housekeeping staff, bellman and one guy at Front Desk as being friendly and helpful. Collapse

I usually stay in the Hilton on O'Farrell but wanted to try this property as well, so stayed on a weekend night. I was able to get an upgrade to a suite with a balcony (they don't have many rooms with balconies; I'm a Diamond member, but this upgrade was a courtesy extended based on hotel occupancy and not the typical upgrade i was entitled to), which was spacious and very nice, with a comfortable sitting room and even local reading material, such as coffee-table books on such subjects as Modern Design in SF. It's those extra touches that can make a difference. The balcony overlooked Chinatown, which made for some fun (if distant, this was on the 27th floor) people-watching; however, after seeing the view from the bay side (the 26th floor stairwell affords a very nice view), I resolved that next time I'll request a bay view room - wow! That side may have fantastic views of Coit Tower, Alcatraz, and the Bay. I also had access to the Executive Lounge, which had a nice evening (5-7 pm reception), including tasty snacks (meats, cheeses, hot nibblies), and complimentary wine and beer - you rarely see that in US Hiltons anymore, so was another nice touch. The breakfast was also quite solid, above average for a typical Hilton lounge. So all of these touches made for a very nice stay, but the crowning touch as the friendly and very helpful staff, starting with Roberto, who helped me with my room, and texted the next day to check up on my stay, as well as Michael's fast and friendly check-in assistance. A good room and lounge are musts, but with the right staff, a hotel like this becomes a gem, which was the case for my stay. Bottom line here is to ask the staff here for help with what you need, and you're likely to have an excellent stay. Collapse

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, it is a good hotel with Hilton standards. Old building but obviously maintained well, good rooms size, good fitness and wellness center. Two things I did not like were the location (although in the financial district, but in front of the dirtiest little park in the middle of the china-town), and the fact that there was no refrigerator in the room. But a good hotel all to all. Collapse

Situated in the center of the San Francisco it offeres one of the best city views I could imagine to get in San Francisco. It was like a dream for an European like me to wake up next to the tall buildings which we do not have in my country. We were so amazed that we left the window shades up the whole night, just to make it possible to view the magnificent view in the night when going to the toilet and in the morning. The staff is one of the most friendly we encountered in the SF and LA and we are very happy to have met Maria at the reception. She made our day great again with a painless and swift check-in after a long exchausting 6 hrs drive from Los Angeles. We were happy with the breakfast that was served in the executive lounge to which we had access due to having a room on the executive floor. The view from the lounge was even better than from our room, because it was situated 2 floors above ours. Thank you Hildon SF FD and thank you Maria for making our stay perfect. Collapse

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room have plenty of room and had a nice long desk by the window. The windows were dirty and I can understand with all the rain they had. I enjoyed two meals in this hotel one was for a dinner by myself. The other was breakfast before I went on a tour. They had a nice walk way that I could walk to a nice park in Chinatown and just relax. It appears that they kept up this hotel very well since it was built in 1972. For me the biggest thing is location location location. The hotel that I wanted to stay at was sold out so this was my second choice and it worked out good I would stay again as a second choice.
