I do really love this brand of hotel, whether Birmingham, bristol or elsewhere. Clean, functional (and trust me this doesn't apply to most hotels), really well trained staff and a great breakfast offering. Every staff member from reception to breakfast were friendly, helpful and professional, particularly Terry the omelette guy, who was walking the floor promoting his 'best omelettes', And the dark haired lady who saw that I was struggling with the water tap and immediately fixed it. I really like the fact that they are all allowed to be themselves as opposed to robotic staff, it makes a difference. Collapse

The breakfast was excellent with a very cheerful chef, desperate to please all guests. Great choice of vegetarian foods with superb range of fresh fruit and pastries, as well as the usual cooked breakfast

I've stayed at this hotel a few times. The central location, the hotel facilities are generally pretty good, nice clean rooms, spotless (though cramped) bathroom though a few small tweaks would earn a five star rating. Firstly I want to mention a safety (fire risk) issue. There is an empty mini-bar fridge in a cupboard for use of guests, but the cupboard has no ventilation whatsoever, nowhere for hot air to escape. When I opened the door the thing was red hot. Overheating electrical equipment is not so good. What is needed is a lower and upper ventilation grille in each door. The hotel will also see a reduction in energy consumption with this very necessary modification. We continue to be a little disappointed with some aspects of the service at this particular Garden Inn: - You can't book the car park, its first come first served. There is a public car park next door, but a booking system for the secure Hilton Car Park would be much better. - We booked an early check-in, but when we got there the room was not ready and would not be ready until the normal check-in time of 15:00, that did not fit well with our plans for the day. It seems there is some dark rule "if available" but if its not available, why offer it on the app? - We also booked the Dinner B&B deal, there was a function on, so we were advised by the delightful Ana on reception, to eat a little later - good advice. We rocked up at 20:30 to be shown a table in the window, then after someone had had words we were re-positioned into the bar area with tables not ideal for eating your dinner. The message we got was that we were not so welcome, which is strange as several times over the last 20 years I've held the top Diamond level of Hilton Honors, right now I'm only a Silver though. - The evening meal was not exactly the best, frankly it was all nicely cooked and presented, but the waiting staff had obviously forgotten about us and no doubt our dinner was left sitting on the side for too long. - The bathroom could do with a heated towel radiator - If you are a light sleeper avoid rooms on the courtyard side on the weekend - there is a nightclub opposite, I did not notice it as I sleep like a log, but 'er indoors did. In summary it is a good hotel, but to my mind there are still too many niggles in the customer experience area to earn this hotel a five star rating. Collapse

Booked 4 kingsize.. well super kings.. with city views. Views varied.. but generally looked out at sky scrapers or other buildings.. well city view! Rooms had huge beds. Large LED Tv's. Desk area.. chair.. comfy chair. Proper wardrobe with drawers and a light inside. Behind a full length mirror.. secret door.. an iron and board. Plenty of other storage and room. Fridge.. but empty. Safe too. Plenty of other mirrors.. and a fab ensuite. Large shower area.. good pressure and a wide spread. Quality toiletries provided. Very clean and warm. Air con in room. There was some noise late at night from a near by disco.. but not too bad. You are on Broad street.. where everything is! The ICC centre was 3 mins walk. Spar shop and coffee shops nearby.. and loads of eateries. The canal is before the ICC.. and a quick walk to the right following the canal leads to amazing gin bar! The welcome from Georgia on reception was brilliant. Professional, friendly and very welcoming. So helpful and made us feel this wasn't a huge national chain hotel! The breakfasts were excellent. Quality ingredients. And fresh omelettes and other dishes could be ordered.. and made by Terry.. a super friendly chef! He is a star.. making you feel valued and super welcome. Look out for him on the egg area! He deserves a pay rise! The hotel is clean and airy. And the ideal location for exploring the city. Nothing is more than 10 minutes away by foot. The carpark is limited.. so I parked in a Q park next door. Nice and secure and we got a discount from the hotel when checking out. (Just give them your ticket to validate). I would stay here again. Staff amazing. Location perfect. Thank you. Collapse

Stayed for one night after seeing a concert at the Indoor Arena. Perfect for that occasion. Easy to park next door to the hotel £15.20 for 24 hours and Arena only a 5 minute walk away. Lots of restaurants (mainly chains) and late night bars (also usual city centre chains) plus Broad Street is also only a couple of minutes walk. Hotel was nice, staff very welcoming and efficient. Room was a little dated and tired looking but for one night not an issue. Don't forget your phone charger, although all the wall sockets in the lobby had USB ports there were none in the room, although they did have LAN line sockets. As I say a little dated but will certainly stop again next time I go to the Arena. Collapse
