Let me start with.. I'm a Hilton Honors gold member so i have standards i expect to see when staying at Hilton hotels (considering this one cost the same as the others I stay in which are 1000% time better. Check in and parking easy (so thumbs up there) Lift out of action (the bad begins) The bedoom was out dated and felt dirty, the corridors and walkways are like being stuck in the 1970s and again seem dirty. The bathroom was a good size but outdated with a cracked sink. Window seals are gone so it was cold and the traffic noise was horrendous. Emergency stairwells not clearly marked so we took the stairs (becuase the lift was out of action) only to find ourselves in a locked stair well when we reached the bottom)... So we sleep the bed was OK and the fact they have normal television so you can see what is on the the telly (Hiltons own TV system is awful so this was a thumbs up). On to breakfast, no one to greet us so we wait 5 mins. Seated we then go to eat. No eggs, No white baguettes, burnt tomato, no chef to cook omelettes Find out chef had been to bath room, it took him over 10 mins to return which doesn't fill me with confidence knowing what he had probably done in there. to rub salt in the wounds when the chef arrived back so did the 2nd chef (why were they both away at the same time?? I doubt I will stay here again, we only stayed here because everything other Hilton was sold out, we will use one near Gatwick if we have to stay in this area again. Collapse

Clues in the name but this is South Croydon not London. Not really suitable for business travellers unless working nearby. Connectivity to London Bridge & Victoria is ok,but time consuming. The hotel itself is clean & presentable if a little tired looking in parts & the lifts mostly out of order or only working one way! My bedroom was adequate, clean & tidy and the facilities in room exactly what I have come to expect at Hilton. The downstairs restaurant was ok. Good range of options. I had a burger & chips which was a little overdone by modern standards but it was filling and the accompanying fries were a little light of being generous. The staff here in the restaurant were attentive and courteous. I did not have breakfast because I was leaving to early in the morning. The hotel does lay on shuttle to East Croydon which connects directly with London Bridge but this doesn’t start until 7am which is too late for this business traveller. Would I return? Probably not. I’d pick a different franchise. Collapse

I stay at this hotel fairly regularly because it is convenient for trips into London. This last time I came here I was disappointed that my status went completely unrecognised. If I hadn't regularly been to this hotel I would have been fairly put off by the treatment which was unwelcoming. The breakfast is generally good. But we had people 'face timing' beside us. Had we been located in the appropriate area then this inconvenience wouldn't have been upon us. A disappointing stay overall. Collapse

Ok, so a poor attempt at a play on words with the title of this review, but bear with me and all will be revealed. This was my second stay at this hotel and the first time I had used the digital key service. I arrived and went straight to my room, no check in queue - excellent. Then I discovered the TV didn’t work and that the heating was stuck at 24 degrees. I called the front desk and they sent someone up who couldn’t fix either and was told to go back to reception to get issued another room. So I walked to reception, then back to my new room where I found I had been issued a queen room instead of the king I had booked, the heating was stuck at 24 degress, and windows wouldn’t open to cool the room. I called the reception again and another person was despatched. Whilst waiting I looked in the fridge and found an empty can of Monster, pressummably left by the previous occupant; which doesn't give confidence that the room had been thoroughly cleaned. Of more concern was the fact that I found another can in the waste bin which was not another can of drink but instead an empty can of insect killer - makes you really question the cleanliness of the hotel. After another trip to reception and I was issued with a new key for a room, 2 doors down from my original room an hour after starting my good digital key experience I ended up in a room with the heating still stuck far too high, but at least this one had an opening window. So after a 300 mile drive to get to the hotel for an early morning meeting the next day, I spent a less than restful night with open window, curtains and an open window to cool the room and had to suffer lots of traffic noise. I also had to go back to my original room to swap out the foam pillows I had requested. Fortunately my digital key still allowed me access to that room and the other room I was issued .... this needs to be sorted urgently as it is a security risk. Breakfast was another disappointment as although the breakfast bar has an egg station it was sadly not staffed, although all the eggs were ready to be prepped. I eventually found a waiter who went into the kitchen to request eggs and came back to say he'd bring them to my table. When they arrived, I then had to join a large queue to get the rest of my breakfast items. All of the people in the queue were equally disappointed to find no eggs other than a pot of sloppy scrambled eggs present. I was seated in a place where I could see the breakfast station and around 20 minutes after I sat down, a chef finally came out to the egg station. Pretty poor service. Overall quality of the food, both at breakfast and dinner the night before was good but if you’re looking for a comfortable night’s sleep so you’re not yawning with tiredness the next day you may wish to stay elsewhere. I am a Hilton HHonouts gold member and have a lot of loyalty to the brand. By and large I’ve had good experiences at most hotels but his was by far the worst experience EVER at a Hilton. Collapse
