We booked to attend the Xmas Casino Royale night. The whole experience was fantastic. We used the pool and spa facilities in the afternoon which was very relaxing. The evening meal was one of the best xmas dinners I've experienced at a 'mass' do. Breakfast was also excellent and you never know who you might meet. Bumping into an exercise class when exiting the lift was a surprise. Especially at 8 a.m on a Sunday morning! Collapse

First of all, finding a parking space here can be a mission in itself. I spent 20 minutes driving round and round waiting for someone to get off their blasted phones and getting on with the job of jolly well concentrating on what they should be doing which is to make some space for me. The receptionist was lovely but finding my room turned into a route march. Dinner was interesting as my colleagues and I waited for an hour to be served a cold steak which had to be returned. I don't know why this hotel has pictures of footballers everywhere. In my experience footballers tend to be rude overpaid fools who rarely show sports skills and team spirit .... look at that terrible man who won't share his crisps as an example. No wonder the youngsters have no one to look up to. If they turned a couple of those funny small pitches into bowls greens I'm sure they'd get a better class of customer and sell a lot more onion soup Collapse

I stayed here on business for a two day conference. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and not too noisy. The car park is a long way away from the hotel and it gets full very quickly. The food that we had in the evening was not great. The starter was great, the main course was tiny and a bit chewy and the dessert was odd. That's the first time I've had a chocolate tart that was tough and rubbery. Breakfast was very good and there was a really good selection. It's also nice to have a choice of eggs cooked to order. Conference facilities were ok. It is definitely a business location or a football vacation. It is basically in a judge complex of football pitches. Collapse

Stayed over on a Saturday night with some friends as we were in the area and this hotel was the most convenient. It was a good choice. All the staff we encountered were helpful, friendly and professional. The place looked quite full but the staff never let this show and their service was excellent at all times. We took dinner in the restaurant, and also breakfast, and again everything was spot on. The dinner prices were a little on the high side but not extortionate and the food was good. My room, on the executive floor, was extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean and I had a good night of sleep. The bathroom was not huge but had everything you could need and again was very clean. If I was pushed into a criticism it would be that the taps in the bathroom were a bit tricky for a thick Northerner. At the hand basin at first I could not actually see the taps but eventually located them underneath what looked like a stainless steel shelf that protruded from the wall. I turned on the cold tap and then a waterfall style stream of water soaked my forearm and lower sleeve as the water came from the front edge of the "shelf", seemingly you attack the taps from the side, not the front, and it was impossible to pour a glass of water without having water all down the outsides of the glass. Having said that, nobody died and this did cause mirth with my pals. The rate paid for such a lovely stay was not too bad either and we will be back when next in the area. We took the guided tour around ST George's Park the following lunchtime and this was good value for money and very interesting. Collapse

Firstly, this is a lovely hotel, it is modern and spacious and the grounds are fantastic. The view from the restaurant is wonderful. Sadly the attention to detail in the public areas is very poor. Myself and my daughter visited for a spa day. The spa facilities are good. Well equipped gym, nice treatment rooms, changing rooms. Pool is fine, sauna unfortunately was so hot it burned your feet and the steam room was also overly hot, to the point you were unable to breathe. That is possibly why they were empty. The chair cushions around the pool were stained, but the area itself was clean. In the restaurant the seat of the chair was stained. My daughter advised the waiter she did not want to sit on it and he swapped it for another chair and placed the stained chair at a different table. In the bar area the lack of cleanliness continued, There were crisps under the table and the table top had the sticky residue from previous drinks. The wallpaper had a tear in it. There were dirty coffee glasses on the bar and despite the bar being almost empty and two staff on duty the dirty glasses remained there for the 30 minutes we were there. It is such a shame. The football memorabilia, the fantastic modern lighting, the spaciousness of the hotel is fabulous, but rarely have I been anywhere where higher standards are not maintained. Public areas are important they set the tone, as somewhere intended to be a showcase this lack of attention to detail is disappointing. Collapse
