We had our wedding at Hartsfielf Manor, Betchworth at the beginning of June 2017. We have staid there over night as well as few of our guests. It is a beautiful hotel set in lovely grounds with a special atmosphere. The staff were professional and attentive. We all had a lovely, comfortable rooms. Before our big day we were very well looked after by Helen (thank you so much for all your help) who was a great and provided great service. The wedding day was a huge success, the food was very nice but some of the service wasn't great. I would like to say a big thank you to Florin who was very professional and ensured everything ran very smoothly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will recommend to friends. Thank you Hartsfield Manor for making our big day so special. Collapse

Stayed at Hartsfielf Manor, Betchworth for 2 nights while attending close friends wedding. It was a beautiful hotel set 16 acres of grounds. The staff were professional and attentive. We had a lovely, comfortable room overlooking the grounds. We had previously been invited to a "taster" evening with the bride and groom in order to select the menu and wines. On this evening we were very well looked after by Monica who was a great foil for our humour and provided great service. The wedding day was a huge success, the food and service (Monica again played a big part) was outstanding and our "MC" Florin was very professional and ensured everything ran very smoothly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already made enquiries about holding a function of our own next year. Thank you Hartsfield Manor. Collapse
Two nights away

I was surprised when I read some of the low scoring for this hotel. We stayed two nights in the annex. It was clean and comfortable. A very peaceful spot. Staff very friendly. Good choice for breakfast. We would go back!

We had booked a junior suite for two nights over the public holiday weekend. We had booked directly with the hotel about two weeks earlier as we felt we might get better treatment going direct. Arrived as per standard check-in to be told our room was No35, on the top floor. No assistance was offered to take our bags but the front office was only staffed by one lady, who obviously was unwell. Initially we were charged for only one night, we pointed out the mistake and corrected payment. After climbing a series of stairs, the last two sets very steep, we walked to our room, the last one, just past the pile of dirty laundry, left over food and used glasses and pots. On entry in our room it became apparent it was not a junior suite, it was perfectly adequate as a double but was incredibly hot, and NOT what we had paid for. At no point had anyone in the hotel attempted to advise us that the room we were offered was not what we had paid for, indeed we were charged as if it was- had we not complained it appeared the hotel would have pocketed the additional payment and said nothing. We called reception and after some delay an admission of the error was made but as the hotel was full no immediate solution was offered. After a few more minutes we were told they could possibly move us to the room we had booked, and paid for, the next day and that they'd refund us £50 (basically the difference between the rooms). We decided that the lack of openness and honesty was too unpalatable to stay at the hotel and informed that we would not be staying. At this point some vague offer of complimentary accommodation for another night, hardly useful as we had to go back to work, was made. It was vague and incredibly unclear. Back we treked down the steep and then grand staircase. The machine that had worked quickly to take our payment was unable to process our refund! Could we just sit down and wait whilst the lone, sick, front office lady went to the bar to process it? The hotel was very busy with a wedding and his appeared to be the focus of staff on duty. The flip side was then we had to seek alternate accommodation- not easy on a busy public holiday! We managed but wasted a day. If the Hartsfield Manor had called us when they'd realised their mistake we could have had the pick of accommodation elsewhere, but trying to find somewhere to stay at 4pm on the Saturday of a busy public holiday significantly added to our costs and wasted our time! Even had they been honest at check-in, apologised and offered us some warm words, assistance and perhaps a small gesture in apology- that feeling of dissatisfaction and disappointment would not have been so great. I do hope they read and respond, ensuring they take more care to meet the needs of all guests, and that they offer training to their staff, and perhaps employ enough of them that the hotel runs as it should. These rooms are not cheap- £189 a night is not bargain basement and no guest should be made to feel like we were today! Collapse

I stayed here in business recently. The main building is grand with stunning views across the Surrey countryside. I stayed for 3 nights and upon checking in I was given keys to my room which was in a separate wing to the main hotel (name escapes me). The room itself was well decorated and very comfortable. A large bathroom with shower over bath was again recently decorated and very nice! Unfortunately the entrance to these rooms and the stair case to the upper floor was next to my room and as such every time someone came in it was very noisy with either the door banging shut, or people climbing the stairs. Perhaps some sound proofing would help. The staff are very accommodating and the food in the restaurant was plentiful and enjoyable. The only other area which I thought was disappointing was the gym which needs modernising if you are going to advertise it as being a feature. Separate door card and out of date equipment didn't make for a pleasant use. Overall very enjoyable stay and hopefully I will have the opportunity to stay again Collapse
