We were on a one off trip which landed in the early hours of the morning. It was great to find the bar open. We had a fantastic room overlooking the fields at the end of the runway. Made a brief weekend away amazing.

My daughter and I were looking at Exeter Uni and needed somewhere to stay for 2 nights which wouldn't be too expensive. This was just over a mile and a half from the airport. I only paid £54pn for the room with free breakfast. The flight, which only takes around an hour, compared to 7 hours non-stop driving from Newcastle, got us in about 9.40pm and we only had to wait a few minutes for the courtesy bus. I had contacted the hotel beforehand to make sure it and the courtesy bus were wheelchair accessible and the hotel had informed me they were. There were 3 high steps to get in the bus and the clueless driver suggested we might be better walking the short distance. My daughter came up with a plan and I eventually got in. His "short walk" would have been at least 20 minutes along a single, pot holed track, with no lighting. When we checked in, the reception staff were very welcoming. I had asked for extra bedding to be in the room as I use an inflatable chair to sleep on when I'm away from home. Unfortunately there wasn't any and when I asked at reception, I was told they don't have spare bedding!! One of the staff managed to take some out of another room. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but light snacks were available 24 hours. I hadn't ate and bought a chicken tikka bun from reception and I must say it was delicious. The room was spacious and very clean with a large wet room. Instead of the usual toiletries, there were containers on the wall by the sink which had handwash and body lotion and in the shower, shampoo, conditioner and bodywash. I thought this was a brilliant idea as I am always dropping those little bottles in the shower. There was a double bed, chair and footstool, tv, kettle with tea and coffee, workstation, bedside cabinets and a wardrobe with a sliding door the width of the wardrobe which was also the bathroom door, which meant when you closed the bathroom door the wardrobe was open and vice versa. I don't know if it was made to make you laugh but it certainly made us smile. Even with my chair inflated, there was still lots of space. The room was so quiet, you wouldn't believe we were so close to the airport and motorway. When we went down to breakfast we thought it would just be a light one, as it was free. I was so wrong. I have never been anywhere that had a better selection. As well as the usual cooked breakfast, there was a large variety of cereals, yogurts fruit meat, cheese, waffles, in fact I can't remember everything. Most hotels charge around £15pp for breakfast and if you work it out, you are actually getting the room, when theres 2 sharing, for £24pn. Exeter city centre is about 5 miles away and cost £16-£18 by taxi or £20 to the uni. Marco Pierre White has a restaurant next door to the hotel but was closed for refurbishment when we stayed. Yes, we did have a few little niggles at first, but the rest of the time more than made up for it. The staff were brilliant, ordering taxis and making sure our stay was enjoyable. I hope I get the opportunity to return. Collapse

I stayed at this hotel in January and it was a great choice, so when I found myself in the area again this weekend 25th March, I had no hesitation in booking this hotel again. I arrived and was greeted by a very polite and happy receptionist who gave me my key to room 305. I went upto my room and strangely noticed an orange do not disturb sign around my door. I went into the room and to my horror found the room in an awful mess. No bed made, ironing board out, towels over a chair and on the side with the room key on the side too. I made an exit and went to reception, who apologised and offered me a complimentary drink and changed my room. I went to the second floor, right to the end to find my room, I put the key in and nothing happened, I tried the second key and still the door would not open, so back down I go again! The receptionist was apologetic and re did the key and back I went, I tried both keys again and still could not get in. I had no choice but once again to go back downstairs. The receptionist could not believe I was back again, in fact neither could I ! This Time she called her manager who came upto the room with me, I tried the keys again and still they would not open, the manager had to open the door with her own key, saying it would need another ten min for my key to work. They could not change my room again as he hotel was full. I spent at least half an hour going back and forth and whilst I was not angry I was not happy. I have traveled the world and stayed in hundreds of hotels and have never been given a dirty room and then had so many issues with a door key. I would now think twice about staying again at this hotel when in the area next. Collapse
