This hotel is near Exeter airport but is a pain to find for the first time. Otherwise the service, and rooms are everything you expect from a quality hotel. Normally cheaper than the premier inn up the road, and with free parking and a decent lobby / bar it's so much nicer than the Alternative. The only downside is that they have recently shut the Marco pier white restaurant on site and there is nothing locally so the bar menu is the only thing on offer. The food is good but the menu is a little limited and the breakfast (whilst always included (unlike premier inn)) isn't always great for example the food is kept in steamy hot plates which makes everything a bit limp and soggy - hence not getting five stars. Now four years old, the hotel is being extended. The work does not significantly impinge upon the comfort of a stay in the existing rooms. People who like the aroma of carpet glue will enjoy themselves as these are being renewed also, but dark humour aside, it was not a problem. The opening date for the extension (of 40 rooms) is optimistic at 'summer 2017'. That's not going to happen. Maybe by the end of the year? When open, the southernmost rooms are going to be far too close to the busy A30 unless they have amazing soundproofing. Access to the hotel on the SE corner of the airport is badly signposted and via a narrow road which is poorly matched to local driving habits. This is all due to be upgraded. The hotel business plan appears to depend upon the adjacent Flybe Academy so, should the airline (also the airport's main user) falter, so too will the hotel. Rooms are well appointed, comfortable and clean with effective air-conditioning but suffer from having the most stupidly designed and located shaver point you could possibly imagine. To use it, never mind see it, you would have to be 2' 6" and standing in the bath - which might be less than ideal when plugging in an electrical appliance - because it is housed out of sight in the base of the wall-mounted mirror unit. Food arrangements are very odd. The eating area is neither bar nor restaurant but an uncomfortable hybrid of both. The food at dinner was quite good but I prefer to consume it from a position above fork operating level - not an otherwise comfortable armchair. An alternative to the meals ordered from the bar was a very oddly constructed buffet but its food seemed also to be OK. Breakfast was less satisfactory as I, again, viewed my cutlery from below. The toaster was provocatively one sided even with both elements selected and the food items - although tasty enough - all involved far too much liquid or steam. Car parking is plentiful but I am at odds with any site which uses disabled spaces (3 of those provided) for skips and building materials. An alternative solution should be sought. For all the flaws with this hotel of four floors, I would stay again. The rooms are good and the desk staff attentive, helpful and engaging. Collapse

Very new hotel with friendly staff. Walking distance from the airport but with very little else nearby. Exeter town centre about 15 mins drive so ideal if you have a car / get a taxi. Rooms are very new so very little to say there. Everything was very good. All mods and cons in the room. Only the Second hotel I stayed in where you can use your phone to access the lift and room locks. A little hard to find if arriving late as the postcode takes you on a wild goose chase. Aim for the Airport. Overall it's a really great place to stay. Collapse

Stayed at this hotel on 3rd July 2017 for an overnight stay, catching an early flight the next day. Plenty of car parking space, quick check in ( Although had already done online check in) and greeted by helpful staff. Our room was allocated as selected through online booking, and was clean and provided all the facilities needed. Food at the bar was adequate for our needs, and reasonably priced. Overall this hotel was perfect for our requirements, quiet except for guests who were less considerate, but would recommend this hotel and will use again. The hotel is in the process of being extended, an additional 40 rooms, but the work didn't affect our stay in any way. All staff were helpful and polite. Collapse
