Overall a good weekend all though the hotel was not near the centre enough for us consequently had to spend money on taxis to get to New St station. Various prices to the same destination. Hotel was excellent apart from being a bit out the way. Buses were very frequent but not going to where we wanted. Overall the break was good. Collapse

Typically well appointed and tidy hotel. For those who like beer, there is an excellent bottle shop (off-licence) called Wine Lord about two doors up from them. You wouldn't pick it as a beer destination from the outside, but they do have a good selection... Don't forget to check the best before dates! Step out of the Hilton, turn right, walk five minutes and you'll be at Wolf Bar which has an excellent selection of beers. Prost! Collapse

As a hotel it's okay, nothing special but it's tidy and the rooms are of a decent size and have nice enough interior. My problem with this hotel, however, is that I used Hilton Honors points to pay for the full stay (20,000 points; and can see on my reservation that this covers the FULL amount); yet the hotel sprung a £74 charge onto me A WEEK AFTER I checked out claiming that this was the settle the remaining amount - which is complete rubbish. They've so far refused to see the problem and have not refunded me the money (over a week after I initially raised the concern with them) so have had to resort to raising a dispute through American Express. It's a shame that an otherwise nice hotel is refusing to see that they've made a mistake - it's in black and white in the reservation AND on the Honors app that there should be no additional fee. I won't be staying here again... I would recommend trying the Hampton on Broad Street or the Garden Inn Brindley Place if you're looking to stay in Birmingham and with the Hilton brand. Collapse

Stayed here for 1 night, reception staff on arrival were rude and unwelcoming. They did not explain anything or tell us when times for breakfast/check out were. This meant that when we entered the very small lift (which could barely fit 2 people with luggage) we did not move anywhere, it was not explained to us that you have to use your room key card to work the lift. Once in the room we were welcomed by an extremely loud high pitched noise, after some searching we discovered it was the bathroom fan and the noise stopped once we turned off the bathroom light, this did not bode well for using the bathroom in the night as if we turned on the light it would wake up everybody! Another issue with the bathroom was the door, as it appeared the same sliding door was also the wardrobe door! It was extremely difficult to manoeuvre and took the 2 of us to push open, again not great if you are wanting privacy in the bathroom! We can't understand why they did not just have 1 door for each. We asked about room service and was told they do not do it, however after reading the welcome card in the room we discovered you can order from the snack bar and collect your order from reception (we were not told this option by staff and had to find it out for ourselves). When we collected our burger from reception it was dry and tasteless. My friend and I had approximately 2 hours sleep as beds are uncomfortable and pillows are flat as pancakes! We have also left with numerous bruises on our shins from the sharp corners of the wooden bed frames that stick out further than the mattress right into the narrow walkway. The following morning we came back up from breakfast and we could not open the door, the door catch had fallen and locked us out. We phoned down to reception to tell them and they said someone would be there straight away to let us back into the room, someone finally came 15 minutes later! When chatting to the woman that came she made it seem like this was a common problem. In conclusion I would definitely not recommend this hotel, you are better off looking elsewhere. Collapse

Nice hotel and for a reasonable price. Clean rooms, with tv. The view is not so cool, but not a problem. Staff is friendly and funny. They have a great breakfast and drinks variety. Parking may be an issue.
