Stayed at Hampstead Britannia Hotel - as wanted to walk into London via Primrose Hill, Regents Park and through Streets of London. Hotel was disappointing as staff not very attentive or friendly and room dirty in places bathroom chiefly and round windows - which was off putting - but bed comfy and due to all the walking no problem sleeping - summary location good, hotel poor - London all lit up with Christmas lights amazing and good show in London West End made it a very enjoyable stay, despite deficiencies and cant beat value for money overall - just would expect hotel to meet basic standards of cleanliness. I booked the overnight SuperBreak trip with tickets to the Motown musical for my Mum's birthday and I can't recommend it highly enough for value for money. The Hampstead Britannia Hotel was in a great location, just a five minute walk from Chalk Farm tube and easy walking distance to Primrose Hill and Camden Town. The room was spacious and clean, and the staff were really welcoming and helpful. The Motown Musical was the highlight of our trip - our seats were fantastic, being on the front row of the Royal Circle, and the overall production was second to none - a real 'feel good' show. Rooms rather dated and in need of some TLC. I booked a room without a window which was in the basement. Despite the radiator being switched off, the room was extremely hot! I guess the hotel are aware because there was a fan left in the room. If you have stayed at a Britannia hotel before then you will know what to expect: Cheap room rates for a central location. I paid £53 for a double on a Fri night. Guest rooms are rather dated and in need of some TLC . There were toiletries and an iron and ironing board in the room as well as a tea/coffee making tray. Flat screen tv with a good selection of channels. Free wi fi in the public areas only. I would stay again but next time upgrade to a room with a window. Collapse

I booked a Standard Double room with Breakfast at a price of £103.50. They put me in a room next to the lift (Room 102). I spent all night listening to the lift go up and down as it would make a terrible noise and vibrate everything in the room! I spoke to the staff and all they could offer me was a free breakfast which I had already paid for upon booking the room due to this I was told there is nothing they can do - no compensation for my inconvenience! The room was cold as the windows were pretty useless at keeping the draft out. In preparation for a bad night, I ordered a drink from the bar however, as they had run out of ice at the bar, I was told by the serving staff that they needed to go to the Kitchen to get some ice - They kept me waiting for 25 minutes whilst the staff continued to serve other people before getting some ICE! The bed was comfortable, however the quality of the bed sheets were questionable as they were not warm. in addition to this the curtain was not wide enough to cover the full length of the window when closed. I would not recommend this place, they need to bring their standards up to meet their 3* rating. The staff are friendly however this does not make up for their incompetence. Collapse

This is my second time staying here and I have to say this is a much bette room on the 2nd floor than the last one in the basement. This room has soaking wet windows and curtains due to condensation, no heating, toilet doesn't flush, duvet and pillows are paper thin, sheets haven't been changed in 3 days, road noise due to the single glazed windows is keeping me awake at night. Staff don't seem interested at all in doing anything about it, reported the toilet yesterday and tonight it's still not been fixed. Corridor and room are stinking of stale cigarette smoke. Had to ask for some air freshener to help take it away. If your on a serious budget then stay here, if you can afford an extra £10 a night then get a travelodge and stay in luxury compared to here. Place seriously needs a revamp Collapse

Just 5 minutes walk from Chalk Farm Tube Station on the Northern Line (and a bus every 2 minutes from there to the hotel) is Britannias Hampsted hotel. OK its actually in Camden but thats just nit picking. We had a full week of sight seeing and shows to go to so it was great to be close enough to our hotel that we could freshen up and change for our evening visits to musicals and restaurants. This hotel like all Britannia hotels focuses primarily on value for money and if you read the other reviews I think that some are unfairly negative because some people expect 5 star service oj a budget which is unrealistic. If you want to save your money to spend on Londons atractions then the compromise is a budget hotel, and The Britannia Hampsted meets its brief perfectly. The staff are courteous and keen to help and there is free sky tv in the hotel bar. Our room was clean and servided well even if we had slept in late. If you do stay then consider also visiting the Il Primo Italian restaurant round thecorner on Englands lane. Collapse
