I spent two nights here on business in May. Initial impressions were good - the Victorian hall is impressive and check in was quick. My room appeared newly renovated (apparently not all of them are) with a smart colour scheme and quiet air conditioning. However once I tried to sleep, issues became clear. My double bed was not just uncomfortable; it was clearly broken. There was a rigid section in the middle of the bed and the sides sloped away making you feel you’d roll out of bed! Luckily I’d been given a family room so I moved to the single bed. Next, although the curtains were blackout, the bathroom had no curtains and a glass door into the bedroom. The result? Bright station-lights at night, sunrise at 6am! I got round this by hanging the duvet from my discarded bed over the bathroom’s glass door! Breakfast is chaotic. The hotel lacks a decent dining space so there isn’t enough space and staff struggle to clear tables quickly enough. I grabbed a pastry and fled to Pret for a (much nicer) coffee. So a promising start but basics like room light, a nice breakfast and bed comfort mean I won’t stay again. Collapse

I have stayed here at least four times for business, and this is how I see the pros and cons... Pros: The location, physically attached to Victoria Train Station, is great. Particularly now that there is now step-free access to the tube via Cardinal Place. It's an easy walk to Westminster Abbey and the rest of central London. The rooms are nicely appointed, as are the bathrooms - I like the deep tubs for a hot bath after a long day. The staff is nice and very international. The buffet breakfast is not exciting, but there is a good amount of choice and the lounge offers afternoon tea. There is also a very good Chinese restaurant, if a bit pricy. London.. Cons: Some of the room amenities are inconsistent and many of them are quite dark. The television service in the rooms that haven't been upgraded is primitive. In many ways they are behind when it comes to technology. Also, the lighting in the bathrooms is universally bad for a woman trying to do make-up and they have deliberately taken out the bulbs from the small wall-mounted make-up mirrors! Supposedly they've had some safety problems? Weird. The international staff, while very well-meaning, sometimes do not speak English well enough to understand guest requests. The floor layout is also strange because the hotel is a merging to two older buildings. And, finally, while the rooms have lights to show DND or Service Room, the staff pay almost no attention to the DND, particularly on checkout day. Apparently there is very poor communication between the front desk and housekeeping for them to know who has and has not checked out. Now the big con - service in the restaurant in the evening (the main restaurant, not the Chinese one) is wildly inconsistent! Sometimes they have good timing, but more often than not they are slow and inattentive. They rarely come by the table to see how guests are faring and they don't seem to pay any attention to how long it has been since the last key service milestone (such as being seated, ordering, arrival of starters, arrival of mains, etc.). They are trying to improve this, but it is the biggest issue I've experienced and more than once. Collapse

Booked this hotel mainly for the location and it did not disappoint. The hotel had direct access to Victoria station although there is no lift and only steps their concierge Paul who was kind enough assist us to bring the bags down. There are a myriad of bus stops as well right outside the hotel and is walking distance to Buckingham as well. Rooms were spacious and the design of the building is beautiful. The hotel reception Miriam was extremely accommodating and very helpful. Eva and Angelito from their restaurant also gave wonderful services. It was our last day and missed the tea time they were kind enough to extend it for us. All in all it was a wonderful experience and will recommend it. There was one concierge personnel who initially really gave the hotel a bad impression, but his colleagues made up for it. Collapse

Hear me, for what you've read is true! Grosvenor Hotel is in a fantastic location. If you're traveling like we were, staying on top of the Victoria station is superb and makes getting to any part of London a breeze. Also worth noting that the hotel has direct access to the train station, making things even easier. In general, our room was clean with a comfortable bed and the breakfast option was great. The Wi-Fi is also okay - nothing amazing but definitely does the trick if you need to top off your Instagram or check an email or two. As others have pointed out, the hotel is a bit of a maze and the elevators don't give access to all floors. They have these side 'wing lifts' that position themselves for the mid floors. Sometimes just taking the stairs was an easier option but with those with suitcases and younglings or with the elderly, it can be hard. For us, it was fine. Plus, it's nice to use stairs – since we come from LA, elevation within buildings hardly exists. Since the station is on top of the Underground, next to train tracks, and the bus stop, there is a bit of noise. For us, we found the intercom announcing things actually charming but maybe we had rose tinted glasses on since it was our first trip to London. Otherwise, I could see if you want an extremely quiet place (or large place) that this might not meet those criteria. Ultimately, the staff was great to us and we enjoyed our trip and really, sitting on top of Victoria station is awesome. Not a cheap place but worth it. Collapse
