Another wonderful relaxing stay at Grinkle Park Hotel. We introduced some friends to this lovely hotel and they agreed how special it is. From the moment you arrive, down a long rhododendron lined drive you start to unwind. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms spacious, the food good, magnificent views of the gardens which are a delight to wander in, so peaceful and quiet. A truly memorable place to stay. Collapse

Where to start... a lovely drive to what purported to be a lovely country house hotel. A pleasant drive through the entrance grounds to be faced by workers vans outside the front facade of the house and a abandonment of cars everywhere. The welcome was polite but artificially trite. However the team although poorly trained seemed mostly nice. The room was clean and quite nice with pleasant views over the back lawn to the stream. The hot water took 25 minutes to run warm after we were advised that there had been a problem however it persisted the next day too. So much for eco friendly. Then the fun started. The meals over two nights were a disaster. Incredibly badly cooked and very poor quality ingredients. Coley served as a fish dish..what we serve to our cat! The amazing desired Yorkshire breakfast was a travesty! Black pudding disintigrating over the dreadfull quality bacon etc. We left it! One of the dinners, a steak, tasted so badly of burnt griddle that had obviously not been cleaned..we left it! The pudding was actually laughable...a chocolate 'thin slab' served with a dollop of ice cream on the plate. I was laughing at it! There was nothing else to do. The waiter came over and asked what was i laughing at and i stated that the 'chef' (or cook) had obviously never watched master chef for presentation. The waiter responded.."apparently not". We could not believe how bad the quality of the wines were for the prices demanded. An Incredibly poor quality range. An untrained watress put our wine at the apex of the table furthest away from us in a bucket and I said "oh. are you serving the wine for us" and she laughed and walked away. I called her back and said could she please at least put it in reach so that i wouldn't have to get up every time to top up our glasses. We were not offered to taste the wines before serving either and they were opened at the table before checking correct type. One was wrong! We could not wait to get away from this dreadful place which frankly spoiled our Yorkshire trip.Never, never again!! Collapse

A lovely place for a weekend break. We stayed in one of the spacious upper floor rooms which had great views over the immaculate garden. Very well presented room, lovely touch to have fresh cake/cookies left in the room each day. Lovely lounge area to enjoy pre-dinner drinks. Breakfast was good, excellent hot options. Various choices for dinner, all fine. Staff all very helpful. So quiet at night with the bedroom window open. Great value for money. Collapse

we needed a quiet break and this was just the place for it. up on the north york moors along a quiet country road and down a long driveway lined with mature trees and rhododendrons the grounds are large and well kept. the hotel itself has an old fashioned feel to it with panelled walls and shaped doorways. you can imagine being lord of the manor while relaxing on the sofas in the public rooms. Our room was comfortable with plenty of storage, two armchairs and a table, the bed was large and comfortable and the bathroom o.k. but had a couple of small faults that should have been attended to. Food was excelent although the cold table at breakfast was a bit sparse the porridge and cooked breakfast were excellent. Most of the staff were great apart from one guy who looked as if his uniform was made for someone else and whos shirt constantly stuck out of the gap between waistcoat and trousers. The only downside was the quality of the wine on offer we tried both the red and white both were cheap spanish plonk and really not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel Collapse
