Our one-night stay in Angiolieri did not meet our expectations and we don’t consider it to be the five-star hotel it claims to be. The hotel is well located with splendid views over the Bay of Naples to Mt Vesuvius. The public areas are elegantly minimalist both in décor and furnishing. The main problem was our bedroom - tiny for a resort hotel, with the bed and wardrobe taking up c. 75% of the space. Even with the view it would have been claustrophobic for more than a night. The bathroom was well-equipped but also small. Breakfast is an adequate but not five-star buffet. Dinner was good but not exceptional. As we were with a group in transit to Rome, it was difficult to take a view on how good a base the Angiolieri would be for touring the area. But we thought it rather isolated, both locally and on the peninsula, and from previous experience consider Sorrento a better choice. Collapse
Watch for dangers in the bathroom.

No emergency cord in the bathroom. The "snake" or elongated "S" on the tub bottom is not paint, but a multi-level space that can pitch a person forward into the wall or sideways into the shower-plumbing. Catching hold of the glass "wall," it moves, which can show that the rubber on the bottom has become unsealed from the glass, thus causing water to go onto the slippery tile floor and bathmat. End of the hallway had a broken glass door with holes, but no tape to hold the door remnants together nor any warning to avoid the door to the outside stairwell. Kingsize bed in bedroom allowed virtually no walking space for two people in a shared room. One needs a degree in tech to work the lights. Nice people, some trying too hard to be "sophisticated." Wines could be better at dinner, and food could be more. Nicely arranged breakfast, but so-so food. Collapse

We've spent 3 nights at this hotel, and the overall experience was good. However I would not give this hotel 5 stars, they simply don't have all the services of a 5-star hotel on-site. They don't have a fitness facility, for example, and their floors have a confusing and strange setup. We had a great junior suite room, however and we liked the Accanto restaurant where we dined twice. The terrace bar wasn't that impressive but the views were gorgeous. The hotel is located in a bit isolated area, there is nothing nearby, the access to the beach requires a long walk with stairs, which are not all in a good shape. I personally liked it as a small adventure. For my husband with some knee problems it wasn't that enjoyable. If you want to be in the center of actions, this is not your place: you have to drive everywhere. But you enjoy being isolated from the rest of the word - then it is definitely yours! Collapse

This review has been a long time coming and so sorry it's taken so long! I had the big task of arranging a weekend break for 8 friends celebrating our best friend Rosina getting married. I came across this hotel on bookings.com and loved the look of the place it looked small and intimate but stylish. The building was so characterful with a great position on the cliff tops over looking Mount Vesuvius. I had read that it was a central position for getting around to Positano, Pompeii, Sorrento and many more beautiful places. I new for our time it was more about relaxing and so I knew that we wouldn't be visiting many places but it's still great to know. We arrived on Friday to warmest welcome which I was relieved about as I had bombarded the staff including Armando and Giovanni with so many emails before hand which they always responded promptly and professionally reassuring me that everything was in place and wow was it! We all felt straight away that we were going to be really taken care of as the staff were so personable but extremely professional at all times. We had a drink at the bar while our cases were put in our rooms. The bar over looked a beautiful infinity pool which looked out onto the sea. We booked two standard room and two superior. They were all beautifully presented and although not that large perfectly formed. The two superior looked out onto Mount Vesuvius which was so incredibly beautiful with the sun shimmering on the sea. The weather was spectacular throughout our stay which helped to make the experience perfect. We unpacked and met on the rooftop where we sat in the hot tub looking out onto the ocean laughing and enjoying the sheer beauty of what was surrounding us. After many hours we went back to our rooms to get ready for wine Tasting with Giovanni on the terrace. We drank wine whilst learning about it as the sun set behind us. Giovanni was incredibly informative and passionate which made the experience so enjoyable and well worth it. After this we sat and ate a meal that just did not stop giving! Course after course it was truly incredible and absolutely Michelin star! It defeated us but was the most fantastic experience the food the setting the service was simply outstanding and when the Chef came out we clapped as it was an absolute masterpiece what he had created. After along day including our travels we retired to the bedrooms ready for an early start. We all met where we left off for breakfast and continued to enjoy what was on offer a mix of yogurts, cereals, fruits, eggs, coffees, teas, hot chocolates and much more. We had pre booked the hotels car to take us down to the port where we were being picked up by Mammamia boat tours where we had booked a private boat for the day to take us to Positano. I couldn't recommend them enough the day was absolutely outstanding Positano was incredible. We got back and was picked up by the hotel car. When we got back to the hotel there was a wedding going on, which we had been pre warned about. We were still warmly welcomed home and was asked about our day. We then retired to get ready for a meal and a night out at Club Africana which was fabulous and we enjoyed so much that we didn't want to leave!! We used Euro limo for taxis that I pre booked. They were just fantastic always on time never let us down. Our last day some of us made breakfast!! And with a strong coffee we were ready for relaxing around the hotel and facilities. We ate food in the bar and just enjoyed the roof terrace for the last time. We said our final goodbyes and new that this truly had been a magical weekend and the hotel and staff and been a huge factor in making this perfect. A tranquil slice of heaven a real gem! Collapse

We stayed here on our way to Positano over the summer. The hotel can be a bit hard to find, even with GPS! If you have never been to the area before and if you don't have a navigator, be extra attentive when you arrive for the first time. Many of the roads leading to and around the hotel are so narrow that some full-sized cars (we had a Peugeot 508) will not fit unless you fold-in the mirrors! Apart from the nerve-wracking drive to get to the hotel, the rest of the experience was enjoyable. The hotel is quite small, with a sun room and pool on the rooftop and an infinity pool on a lower terrace. The gardens are charming and paving in ceramic tiles typical to the area. From the restaurant you have a view over the Bay of Naples and there is even a corner turret on the terrace that has an even better view. The staff was courteous if a bit cold. All in all, the hotel makes for a good base if you want to explore the area but is a bit small if you are looking for more of a self-contained resort stay. Collapse
