We stayed one night at The Gore and did not have anything to fault it for. Highly recommended. Fab location, stunning rooms, friendly staff, great bar and beautiful breakfast room. Couldn't have wanted more for our over night stay. We were upgraded on arrival to one of the Junior Suites (Dame Edith something). What a beautiful room, lovely high ceilings and the most comfortable bed have ever slept in. The shower was very powerful and felt wonderful after a long walk through London. The bar is decked out in dark wood which gives it a cosy feel. Bartenders were friendly and the cocktail list was impressive. Breakfast the following morning was available until 11am which was a real treat for us (we have two young children), there was a wide choice and everything that was served looked appetizing. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a stay in central London, I'm looking for an excuse to come back and hopefully get that same room again! Collapse

After an 8 year absence, we returned to The Gore. The location in South Kensington is wonderful especially if you covet being near the parks and museums. Plus, we were holding tickets for the Royal Albert Hall which is a stone's throw. Our room wasn't ready upon arrival, but seeing it was our anniversary, they graciously upgraded us to junior suite (the Queen Victoria). Wonderful room with nice space, lovely velvet settee, writing desk and antique bed. The bed, as my husband noted, was one of the most comfortable hotel beds ever (and we're tough customers in this regard) so major plus! Lovely soaking tub and shower stocked with yummy Penhaligon's bath products. We returned a second time later in our trip and were in a considerably smaller, yet still comfortable room that featured a small balcony that opened onto Queens Gate. It's the quirky charm of this hotel with its historic paintings and small shelf of antique books, lavish draperies that keep up coming back. The head concierge, Trevor, is a gem and so fun to talk to. Also met some lovely ladies that worked the front desk. The continental breakfast was included and perfect for us. We also loved tucking into the Bar 190 after the show at Albert Hall where they wisely kept the Beatles music going (it was a Beatles tribute band at the Hall). The Spanish bartender (sorry, I forgot your name) was wonderful. The Gore offers a quintessentially British experience which includes (what I consider) charming quirks. Every room is different and distinct. Yes, the elevator is slow and rickety (but, there's an elevator!) and the hotel is a 10-15 minute walk from South Kensington tube. The bar cocktail prices are dear as is the menu in the hotel's restaurant... but it didn't impact the enjoyment of our stay....just be advised going in. If you enjoy historic surroundings and lush beds in a beautiful area of London, The Gore just might fit the bill. Collapse

We stayed in the Judy Garland Suite. It was everything I had dreamed of. The room was spotless. The staff were very friendly, professional and helpful. The Hotel is close to the tube and easy to get around. Very close to some very good Restaurants or Pubs. We had our Anniversary Dinner in the 190 Restaurant on site . The food was delicious. Breakfast was adequate, but I feel quite expensive for what was offered. But all I certainly would stay again and recommend it . Collapse

The Gore is a quirky eccentric boutique hotel full of character. We stayed in a superior room, which was a lot more spacious than the standard rooms. We were happy about paying the extra money to have more space. All rooms have been recently refurbished, however the original period furniture has mostly been retained, which really adds to the character of the rooms. The location was perfect for a sunny spring weekend, right next to Hyde Park and perfect for a morning jog. The only drawback is the hotel is a bit too far from any tube stations. Service was very friendly and efficient throughout our stay, very warm and engaging. The hotel bar is a key selling point - a wonderful comfortable wood panelled space with a place in bohemian history. The photoshoot for The Rolling Stones’ album Beggars Banquet took place here, and the decor pays tribute to this event. The breakfast room (and the breakfast itself) was great, if bit on the expensive side - we really enjoyed our full English, American pancakes and eggs royal. This is a quirky eccentric boutique hotel full of character, we would definitely return, especially in the summer months. Collapse
