Carson Tower "New Rooms" are nice - housekeeping is hit or miss - resort fee a joke

We just returned from the Nugget and had a room on the 17th floor of Carson tower. Our check-in was delayed due to computer problem - the desk clerk just walked away from her terminal and didn't say anything. IT team came out to fix - and then desk clerk reappeared and had us move to another person - very strange. Higher floors are Carson are the "new" rooms - but the furniture is still the same from when we first stayed at the Nugget over 20 years ago now. The new wallpaper, carpet, blinds are attractive. Housekeeping was hit or miss, some days it was great and then others skimpy - they just straightened the beds (they don't change linens unless you ask), and put in towels. Didn't vacuum or clean bath except to wipe down the shower. (I know as I was in housekeeping for many years at a resort town). Obviously tables not cleaned or even swept under - I found change under the ice bucket and tray and under the vanity table and table in the room were full of threads, plastic, buttons, etc. It really doesn't take much to move a few chairs and sweep under them. We only received water 3 days out of 8 even after I texted the contact # more than once - and the "bonus coupons" are a joke. We also did not have the room cleaned one day - when we went to talk to front desk about that and the water - the manager on duty did nothing except hem and haw and would not remove the resort fee even for a few days. You get nothing for the $30 plus tax resort fee (parking is free for hotel guests) Pool was so crowded we decided not even to go out. Concerts across the street very loud until midnight on both Fridays - ear plugs didn't even put a dent in the bass or the screaming from the lead singer. My husband and I were in the hospitality business for many years and we always stayed at the Nugget as it was a 4 star property on AAA - but now with the higher resort fee and so so service from front desk and housekeeping - we will be looking elsewhere. Best option on Fremont

My husband and I just returned home after staying at GN. We’ve been to Vegas approx 60+ times & this was our first stay at GN. We stayed in a comped room & the resort fees were also waived. We arrived on Thurs around 4pm. We requested a quiet room near the elevator & were assigned room 10222 Rush Tower. Check-in & check-out was quick & efficient. We were very pleased with our room. It was modern, spacious, quiet & comfortable. The bathroom was large & the shower had great water pressure. We spent quite a few hours gambling at GN. The cocktail service was excellent at the table games but could be slow at the slots, especially during the evenings. We ordered room service once. It arrived quickly, the order was correct & the food was hot. I tried Cadillac Mexican restaurant, the margaritas are excellent, the service was quick & friendly. Housekeeping serviced our room late morning. They also did a sufficient job. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay at Golden Nugget. We will not hesitate to stay there again in the future. The Golden Nugget Hotel provides excellent customer service. When we arrived our non-smoking room wasn't available so we had to take a smoking room because that was the only rooms they had available. However, we were offered a non-smoking room as soon as one became available the next day with additional discounts which was great. Although we didn't like being in the smoking room because one of us has a medical asthmatic problem and it was bad for both of our health to inhale all of the smoke that was lingering within the room. But, we made the best out of a bad situation plus we were super tired and ready to call it a night. During the rest of our stay we had a great experience, The front desk staff were super friendly and were ready to answer or accommodate your every need. The maid service were friendly and the rooms were super clean plus fully stock with room amenities. The door men were very gentlemen & polite and the room service/food was awesome. Plus I really love the additional room credits for food/drinks if you decide to go green and the new mobile app fast check out service. Overall we had a really great time. Thank you! Collapse
You know it’s bad when they give you earplugs on the nightstand...

Unless you plan on getting drunk and passing out, don’t expect to sleep until the Fremont Street experience winds down after 1:30am. Windows are so in-insulated it seems like you are there. Also Fremont Street is loaded with people who dress in weird or scantily clad outfits - which at first may seem interesting in a weird way, but after a few days I’d just sad. An 80 Plus year old topless “former stripper with no retirement fund” adults dressed as babies in adult diapers and baby masks- I still have nightmares because that was so creepy. I think it’s best to stay on the strip and visit Fremont street for an evening. I did enjoy seeing a concert at the Nugget- Ambrosia. Small place with all good seats pool with fish tank was not yet open. Place was very smoky and I was s lucky person to get in the smoke free tower. Overall very mediocre. Collapse
Fab location and plenty to do
