I haven't really got a bad thing to say about this hotel. It may not have the most up to date decor but it was clean, the bedroom was comfortable, the air con worked perfectly and it was nice to have proper toiletries in the bathroom. The staff were some of the friendliest we have come across, at reception, the bar and at breakfast. We ate in the bar area and really enjoyed our meal. would definitely stay there again. Collapse

1 night stay with friends on a Saturday night over May Day weekend. Huge, clean lobby/reception area with a bar that serves food. We ate there on the Saturday for dinner - would not recommend. We enjoyed 1 out of 4 meals (the steak baguette). Room was an ok size, quite expensive for what it was (2 double beds in 1 room), bathroom clean with nice toiletries provided. Lifts extremely quick. Would stay again if I got a cheaper rate as décor and outside of hotel etc looking tired. Handy taxi rank immediately outside of hotel. We visited the pool area, its quite standard and no Jacuzzi. Steam room small. Breakfast was ok and quite expensive, breakfast staff absolutely lovely. Collapse

Room was a little smaller than I expected in a moderately high end chain, but maybe that's how things are throughout the UK. Everything has less room than we're accustomed to in North America. Staff were EXTREMELY friendly and helpful, at the front desk; the restaurant and the bar. Staff are the best thing about this hotel. Location is good, about a 12 block walk to George Square and Buchanan Street in the heart of the tourist district. Have to mention one drawback: accessing the hotel pool requires navigating a maze of corridors and staircases. You don't have to use the gym after the workout you get finding the place. Collapse

We had a pretty good stay here whilst in Glasgow for my birthday. We arrived at about 11am, and were curtly instructed to leave our luggage with the concierge without the chap at reception even looking at our reservation because he claimed the hotel had been full the night before and our room would not be available. I could see other Elite guests receiving their room keys at this time and was surprised we had been treated this way. However, we tried again with one of the ladies at reception and she happily provided us with our keys as our room was ready. A bit of a shaky start but it was good to be able to settle in our room before heading out again. We had an executive room on the top floor, which was extremely dated (like the rest of the hotel) but comfortable in general and had all the expected amenities. It was nice to have a view of the West End landmarks. Our room was very clean, as was the bathroom, but a real setback was how ineffective the air conditioning was, resulting in a rather hot room. There was also a nice sitting area by the window. The executive lounge fitted in with the dated theme of the hotel but was a pleasant space for a cold drink and light snack. There is a nice swimming pool, which we used a couple of times. It is a bit of a trek to reach it, but worth persevering, especially for the sauna and steam room. We had room service in the evening and particularly enjoyed our food. I had a sirloin steak (perfectly cooked blue as requested) and my fiancée had a pizza. Both dishes were good quality and excellent value for money, particularly for an international hotel such as this. Breakfast in the main restaurant comprised a great selection of hot and cold options. The bar area adjacent to the restaurant was nice, as well, with a brilliant choice of some more unusual beers. We made use of the late check-out until 4pm, which is a great benefit. Checking out was a much smoother experience compared with our check-in. The location is convenient for both the city centre and West End and is about 10mins' walk from Central station and St. Enoch underground. Our stay was excellent value for money and I would definitely consider staying here again. Collapse

Unfortunately this might have just been a very bad day for the restaurant and hotel as a whole, dirty room toilets and bedding stained, when complained to reception this was a complete waste of my time. Will certainly not be back.
