The room we had was adequate for our one night stay, but everything is in need of some tlc. We decided to dine in the hotel's restaurant (open from 6pm) we arrived at 7.10pm & were told they were still setting up following a function. The meal was ok & we were the only 2 in the restaurant. Obviously few people were expected as the receptionist also waits on the tables for dinner & breakfast. Overall nothing outstanding & certainly not fine dining!. Collapse

stayed here for one night with my disabled dad on 7th june 2019.. stayed in room 119 never again are we going to come back here..on leaving reception to go our room the lift wasnt working so my dad had to climb 4 steps which had holes and rips in them to start with..entered the room..half a toilet roll on i went down to reception to ask for more and the lady gave me a toilet roll from behind the desk and she said it was the last one,it was a night mare asking for a iron and ironing board which i finally got,no cold water water running from tap properly it took about 5-10mins for some cold water to come out of tap and the tap was loose, stains on the carpet floor,no bed side lamps not working propley,no toilet brush was in bathroom,we booked a twin room on booking.com and when we got to room it was a four poster double bed with a fold down sette which wasnt comfy to sleep on for me.The whole hotel smelt of dusky damp and smoke, there was dirty net curtain up window in need of a good wash.My dad had to have a strip wash has he coudnt get into shower as it was a shower over a bath.parked my car in there car park under hotel no lights on so was dark when i got back from seeing a show in hanley theatre. Spoke to the reception guy when i took my dog out for a walk this morning about hotel he was trying to sell me the quailty hotel down the road,, Big shame about the hotel not getting the maintenance it needs ASAP. as it needs it.so think twice if ur thinking of staying here cause i know for sure we wont be. I’ve travelled thousands of miles around the world, stayed in countless hotels, and today was the first time I’d checked out of an hotel after 30 minutes. I just didn’t feel safe and I’m a 46 year old guy. I wished I’d looked at all the 1* reviews beforehand. From the outside, it’s a fairly impressive historic building then it immediately gets worse. Gangs of people with their worldly possessions on the steps as you enter, dodgy looking characters hanging around the car park, stale and dank air, an hotel desperately in need of refurbishment and very much like an hostel. Okay, £50 a night is cheap, but we’re not talking London prices here. I had a look around and promptly decided to take the hit, check out after 30 minutes and book a Holiday Inn down the road. This hotel seriously needs to consider what it wants to be, emergency housing for councils or a decent hotel for paying customers. Don’t ignore all the 1* reviews, they speak the truth. Collapse

DO NOT STAY HERE PLEASE!!!! We booked this hotel on line for a reunion in Stoke. OMG what a complete s..t hole !!! We ‘checked in’ at 4 PM and after entering our room and ‘convincing’ each other that it was only for one night, and don’t be too picky’ we went for a drink across the road. We returned at 4.45 and after making our entrance around some ‘iffy’ characters on the steps outside we noticed 2 bodies slumped over sofas in the bar area (bar was closed!!!!). On the way to our room it was obvious that people were smoking weed and the whole corridor had a hazy atmosphere. When we got to our room an obvious argument next door seemed to easily filter through the ‘paper’ walls. We were going to put the TV on to drown the sound but as there was no remote and no way of turning it on we were left to being a third party on what sounded like a script from the Jeremy Kyle show!!! When the bed collapsed on my partner and the headboard dropped to the floor on one side we decided it was time to leave. The girl on reception, although very pleasant, was a big bemused that we were leaving. “Smoking was a definite no no “ she said and “did we know which room it was coming from” !!! What roomnwasngbug coming from!! It’s a doss hole and a halfway house that should be removed from the description of a Hotel!!! We are in the motions of getting our money back but think we are going to be falling on deaf ears. When we attended our reunion that night we were reliably informed that the hotel is DEFINITELY some form of halfway house and regularly used by the council. INVESTIGATE THIS BUSINESS NOW!!!! Collapse

Working away and my work has booked me this hotel, as we arrived we could see there was some.... let’s say unsavoury characters standing outside but carried on in anyway only to be hit by the smell and more unsavoury characters inside, it a dusty unwashed smell with cigarette smoke on top, and the smell only gets stronger the closer you get to your room . The lady at the desk was nice but by this point could already tell that it looks like I’m in a halfway house. But hey let’s have a look at the room I’ve already come this far, it can’t get any worse ...... Well wasn’t I wrong, the first thing I noticed was a full size bin bag (not the little hotel room size bin bag, normal home bin size) in the middle of the room open with the rubbish spilling onto the floor, the bed is unmade and the wall light is bent like it’s hanging off the wall, on the bed side table there is a white cup but it’s black with all the stains and still has something in the bottom. The bathroom is no better pile of towels in the shower, bits of toilet roll doted about and two empty toilet roll tubes, there was also cutlery doted about? Honestly think I would of come out more dirty if I had used that shower Room looked like it had NEVER been washed walls counters and floors covered in stains. And that was enough for me. Went down and told the lady about the room she gave me another room but told her I wouldn’t be staying. I then asked her if it was emergency accommodation for the council and it is ♂️ Didn’t leave a moment to soon as I went to the car park (through a brick arch in centre of hotel surrounded by brick with no view to public) there was some people smoking drugs by my vehicle (before you think how do I know it’s drugs, I have a nose) so god knows how long that would of lasted till it got robbed, jumped in locked the doors immediately and I was free. If your after some gear and a dirty room I would say this is the perfect hotel for you, but if your like me and don’t want those things STAY AWAY! I will attach some pictures, please bare in mind this is how I walked into the room and I have not touched anything. Collapse
