Booked a 10 night holiday to this hotel beginning 4th August - arrived around 4pm on the Friday. I was very impressed with the reception and style of the hotel, it was very busy and seemed a little chaotic at reception but nothing too bad. Our first experience was with the front desk staff who didn't seem to really know how to handle a large volume of customers, people jumping the queue or blatantly getting the attention of the hotel staff and the staff were responding to this rather than dealing with people in the queue. We were offered an upgrade to our room for $50 a night which we didn't take but then the guy kindly offered us the room anyway (more on this later). He wasn't able to answer many of our questions and gave us information about the beach and pools which we later found to be false so that wasn't a great experience. When we got to our room we quickly realised why he had given us a free upgrade - we found out later that there is an adult pool party that happens every Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 8pm with off duty police officers guarding the area - these parties are in full view of the main Chateau tower rooms and I wasn't happy that my 11 year old daughter was watching the activities at the party through our hotel room window (I'll leave that to your imagination) - secondly the music volume was incredible in our room, proper headache inducing with no double glazing it was made even worse. We went for a walk to see the rest of the complex and to find out about the music. The whole of the main complex had the music pumping through the speakers so pretty much 8 or 9 of the 11 pools as well as the first part of the beach was no escape from the volume - we asked the staff about it and they were like, that is how it is on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Honestly, I am not opposed to loud music and I have no issue with pool parties but there was a kind of sinister undertone and with the off duty police officers it felt quite uncomfortable - plus there was nowhere we could see where you could relax or escape the music if you wanted to chill out. We complained to the hotel manager about the location of our room and that we couldn't see where we could enjoy the hotel for the next 10 nights. Michael, one of the hotel managers was very helpful, friendly and accommodating and I would say a shining star in what would become for us a poor experience of the staff overall - he agreed with our concerns and understood that the room we were put in was not acceptable for a family. He was able to move us to another part of the hotel complex, the Tresor tower which was on the opposite side of the complex and which we would find was a lot quieter, albeit with some traffic noise - also this tower had a separate pool which he explained did not have the music playing - he told us that there were two pools we could use at the weekend where the parties did not affect. He was very kind and I want to thank him for his care and attention. Whilst this gave us a much improved location we couldn't help but feel trapped in a section of the hotel for the weekends - we had paid for a hotel with 11 pools of which for 6 of our 10 nights we felt trapped in using two of them! To be fair on the Monday with no party going on, the other pools were lovely and relaxing as well as on the beach, which was awesome - the sea is so warm. The hotel however doesn't seem to know how to take care of regular paying customers as on the Tuesday we found that a large part of the main pool area was taken up with tables for a corporate event so limiting the space holiday makers could get sun loungers - whilst this was only one day and night it felt like the hotel did not plan appropriately where to put this corporate event and how the hotel guests were going to enjoy relaxing at the pool! Overall The room we had whilst nice was not 5 star - parts of the hotel are definitely 5 star like the reception and restaurants etc but the rooms look tired and in need of a good clean and redecorating. Generally the staff are not that helpful unless you are paying up for things like cabanas or spending a fortune at the bar / restaurants. The hotel is more focussed on hosting parties and corporate events than regular holiday customers. I know there are a lot of positive reviews for this hotel and I can see why if you are looking for a party hotel with plenty of cash to spend but if you have a young family make sure you get the right room and try to visit Monday to Thursday to avoid the parties. Having read such good reviews, I decided to treat my family whilst we were road tripping round Florida. I must admit having traveled the world in big and small hotels, must say I was not impressed. Parking was confusing, one hotel entrance to drop your car and a different one to collect, plus the 47 dollars a day parking fee! The hotel it self reminded me of a Vegas resort it was huge and opulent but very impersonal. Security everywhere! The room was reasonable but nothing to be wowed over. Now my big gripes. They claim to have 6 pools!! Ha ha. More like one normal pool and 5 dip in pools. The main pool was so busy there was literally no place to more. Then there were no sunbeds available anywhere to sit. If you wanted the prime "cabana" beds next to the pool you paid extra. Any way no problem, we will hit the beach. The beach chairs were so close to one another I believe I heard every word of my neighbors conversation. My kids went to play on the amusements/pool games and were rudely told to go away as the area was being prepped for a private function. When finally coming off the beach ( and still not getting a sun chair) we were told the pool will close at 7.30pm! All staff seemed more worried about accommodating the huge conference party that had taken over have the grounds rather than the guests who had paid a fortune to stay there. Give me a smaller boutique hotel any day of the week. Finally a 45 minute que to check out followed by another 40 minute que to collect my car! Collapse

This was the first time visiting Fontainebleau for our family. Myself , wife and 16yr old son. We were impressed from the very start. We arrived long before check in and they got us situated right away with a room. (no early check in fee) The property is beautiful and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They found us loungers on the beach and set everything up . The food throughout the hotel is wonderful with Scarpetta being a 5 star Italian restaurant. We had a meal there that was a life changer. Great atmosphere lots of energy. If your looking for a inexpensive hotel this may not be for you but you get what you pay for. We will return for sure. Collapse

a beautiful hotel. Great rooms. Ours with a balcony with water view. This was in one of the towers. Only problem is the hotel is so spread out it's quite a walk to any of the meeting rooms.
