We stayed here the weekend before Christmas and once again had a fantastic break. We have visited many times in the past and have always had a great experience, but this time was even better. Magic Mo ( as we call him) is a wonderful host who speeds about checking that everyone is happy and has everything they need. His wife ( Mrs Mo as we affectionately call her ) and her reception team are welcoming and friendly, always happy to help. The waiting staff are new to us, but were chatty and it was easy to get their attention ( not always the case as in many places they keep their eyes to the floor to avoid being asked to do something ) . The Manager Ellie is new to the restaurant, but she was attentive and ensured that the service was really consistent. We had a smashing evening meal, hot, very tasty and served at our speed, not rushed to get every one in and out ! A special thanks goes to Donna in the spa. I had two of the treatments and as before , she is a relaxing and thoughtful therapist who tailors her treatments to you the client. She makes you feel very special , and is such a calm and quiet lady that I easily could have fallen sleep during the facial. For me, money very well spent after a really hectic run up to Christmas, and already booked again for March when we will return. In short, fantastic staff, a beautiful environment both at Christmas time, for afternoon tea ( fabulous and the best scones ever according to my connoisseur scone loving husband) and in the summer when you can walk through the beautiful countryside and to the church. Lovely rooms, oodles of hot water, and the best place to chill on a Sunday morning with the papers. Thank you everyone, and we look forward to seeing you soon. Collapse

Impressive building driving up to the reception area, and beautiful surroundings. The reception rooms in the hotel are beautiful, atmospheric and historic with some fantastic historical features. We were welcomed warmly and offered mince pies (it was xmas!). We stayed in the Knightley Court Stable rooms, which I have to say were a little tired and dated. The wardrobe didn't close, and the room was quite dark. The bed was comfortable and it was fairly quiet. The bathroom however was upstairs which wasn't great for during the night visits to the toilet. I also banged my head a number of times on the eaves in the bathroom which was annoying. I have a knee replacement, and going upstairs to the toilet was inconvenient. We were booked in for an evening meal which I would mark as average, due to my dish being luke warm and must have been standing under a heat lamp as it was dried up at the edges. Breakfast was better. Service in the main was friendly and helpful, and we were not rushed out at the end of our stay. There was a spa which we didn't use. Collapse

Fawsley Hall had been on our radar for some time and we decided to visit with friends for their New Years Eve celebrations. We had high expectations, in part based on some excellent reviews and the high price tag attaching to the 'New Years Eve' package inclusive of room, Scottish Piper, 6 Course Meal and Party Hats. With any New Year event, you expect to pay a premium but I've spent less on New Years Eve's in New York, Sydney, Rome, Cambridge, Dublin, Edinburgh....basically everywhere else. My expectations were rather high, so what was the reality? Well, the hotel is striking and the rooms are well appointed. The staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was good and well presented. It's a busy place with attaching Spa and wedding venue but doesn't feel too crowded or manic. It has a nice laid back feel with seating areas to relax, soak up the atmosphere and watch the world pass by or take a stroll around the impressive grounds. As for the New Years Eve, well, a little underwhelming. Timings with the food amiss, the live band a little tired, the singer a little off tune. Fireworks arrived unannounced and were missed by the majority of the guests or perhaps, whilst running simultaneously a wedding reception in the adjoining building, the fireworks were actually for the wedding and not the New Year revellers. However, this would explain the glacially slow service. It gave the impression the venue was overstretched and trying to do too much on the same evening. When the main course arrives well after 10 o'clock (having been sat for over 2 hours) something has gone wrong. One of the guests at our table knocked over a large glass of red wine. The table cloth was saturated and needed replacing. Instead, the staff decided to place additional cloths over the stain. Needless to say, this didn't work and the red wine soaked through the cloth and we ate the rest of the meal with a sodden table cloth, which in turn stained our clothes. Far from ideal. Perhaps it was not the best time to experience of Fawsley Hall. Who knows, we may return someday, but it won't be for New Year. Collapse

Our family have been spending Christmas at Fawsley Hall for a good many years, off and on. We always enjoy the characterful building, with its three wings: Tudor, Georgia and Victorian, as well as the gardens in the gently green rolling countryside. Last summer, our granddaughter suggested a return for our next Christmas. I'm very happy to say that everything went as we remembered, apart from one or two things. Our rooms were very comfortable and well heated, although I did have to mention at Reception that we had no heating on during the first night This fault was immediately apologised for, and we were warm as toast the second evening. Although we were now all past the age of wanting to meet Santa on Christmas morning, on Christmas Eve we again enjoyed the singing of a local choir. I must confess that my daughter and I did join in with several carols - but very very quietly! We were also encouraged to join in certain others, at full volume. The food was delicious and we much enjoyed tucking in to our Christmas Day dinner. Surprisingly, considering how much we ate, we still were able to sample the evening buffet, served at 9:00pm. Much of this was very good, but I for one was disappointed not to find any traditional English trifle! All in all, we had a very good time once more, and will probably go there again for Christmas some time in the future , when we've saved up enough. Collapse
