We booked a night at Faithlegg Hotel and for the most, were happy with the overall experience. The hotel is situated about 10/12 minutes outside Waterford city, heading towards Dunmore East , but branching off left to Faithlegg. The entrance way is very pleasing to the eye with a long sweeping drive through a golf course up to the main building - which is quite imposing and full of character. The classic double room is quite well appointed, very clean, crisp and comfortable with a good sized bathroom. The disappointment we experienced related to the following. On arriving back to the hotel around 9:30pm from the city, we found there were no seats available either in the drawing room where music was playing, or in the bar. The only other option was a rather lifeless side-room so we decided to call it a night but weren't too bothered by this. However, the next morning when we went down for breakfast, we were informed by an over-officious and not too friendly manager, that we would have to wait outside the breakfast room for 5-10 minutes as it was full. Twenty minutes later, we were invited to take a table for breakfast. I have been in countless hotels around the globe for work and leisure purposes and can say that this is the only occasion ever, where I have experienced such a wait. Between inadequate seating in the bar and this strange wait time for breakfast, it would appear that the hotel was over-extended on the occasion we stayed.... for whatever reason. I was hoping to mention this upon checkout, but there was a sizeable queue. All in all thought, a pleasant enough experience...but could've been better without the inconveniences mentioned above. Would still recommend for the positives. Collapse

We spent two nights at the resort and everything was top notch. The hotel was beautiful. An old building with all of its original charm and tasteful furnishings. The service was top notch and the food was outstanding. Having the option to dine in the clubhouse was great and the food and service was excellent there too. Very reasonable green fees for a beautiful golf course and staff at the club house were also extremely friendly. Will definitely stay longer the next time! Collapse

On the recent Bank Holiday Saturday my wife and I played golf at the Faithlegg Golf Resort. The staff in the clubhouse could not have been more helpful. We enjoyed a wonderful round in splendid weather. The course proved tough especially the fast undulating greens. The setting is in beautiful parkland. We joined our friends in the Hotel bar for a few well earned drinks before heading out to Waterford for an evening meal. On the Sunday we all headed for the Greenway and managed to cycle to Dungarvan, where we had a lovely lunch outside the Moorings, before returning to Waterford. It was a great day out and definitely warranted a few beers before getting ready for dinner at Faithlegg that evening. The food was absolutely fantastic and was highly commented on by the foodies in our group. The service was of the highest standard even though the hotel was catering for a large wedding in the ballroom. We wondered why we had gone to Waterford the night before. Overall a very enjoyable weekend was had by all. Collapse

Booked a two night stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary.Arrived in the evening as had to travel after work . We were given a very substandard double which would not have been out of place in a two star motel with two hard singles shoved together. Pillows and mattress rock hard, didn't sleep a wink, so rang the night porter who kindly gave me one soft pillow which was double the size of the horrible ones we had. The shower was over a miserable, small, very shallow bath with a shower curtain.. unusable as either bath or shower, without soaking the entire place. Strong drain smell in the bedroom and window had bird poo on it. Complained the following day to reception and asked to be moved. We were moved an hour later to another room across the corridor which was far superior to the other one in that it smelled clean , had a proper double bed and mattress, as booked, a decent bathroom with separate shower cubicle and decent bath which you could soak in , unlike the other one which was a glorified shower tray. Even the fittings and upholstery was nice and fresh and not old and stained. If we had been given this room to start with , I would probably not be writing this negative review. Afternoon tea , fine , desserts melting in the heat. Dinner was average , staff very pleasant but seemed busy and rushed. Portion size was ok for me, but my husband found the dinner very small for him. He ordered extra veg and it came out not roasted, but shrivelled and burnt. We were charged 12 euro for tap water on top of our wine which I only realised on the way home. There were no top sheets on the beds, or tablecloths on the tables and we had paper napkins instead of linen. Tables were sticky. Waiting ages both mornings to be seated , to be served, to get coffee or toast . Then only two slices of toast arrive for two adults and have to wait ages to get more, ...what a pain! Need I go on? This is not a four star hotel...an average three star charging four star prices, so unless you get an amazingly good offer, don't annoy yourself by going to this place. Collapse
