I couldn't have been more impressed by the Elms - it has a 3 star rating, but we have stayed in many 5 star hotels which are not as good. Wonderful facilities, so family friendly with great attention to detail. The children wanted to stay a fortnight, but our one night seemed more like a short holiday as it was so relaxing. We will definitely return - one of the best hotels we have stayed at in the uk. Collapse

I have just returned from the most amazing visit to this hotel! I stayed with my two year old son and my good friend, who is his Godmother and was visiting from London. The room was lovely and spacious. They had thought of everything with a little hooded towel, changing mat, nappy bin and cot without me even asking. My son made fast friends with the hotel staff who were all so warm and welcoming and clearly liked being around children, especially Tamsin the barista in the garden café. We loved the swimming pool and it was just the right temperature for mummies and little ones, but we were glad to have brought our own toys as there were only a few water aerobics floats to play with. Teddy loved the bear hunt all around the house, it was the perfect activity for him, along with toys in so many of the rooms. The food was absolutely delicious throughout our stay. Teddy's fish fingers were definitely not Bird's eye! In fact, I'm am pretty sure that the peas from his kid's meal were grown in the on site garden, which he had enjoyed playing hide and seek in earlier that day. My cured duck was served with a really spectacular puree, the ice creams are again all homemade and really quite special. Our waiter, Evan did an excellent job of looking after us all evening. Breakfast was equally decadent with berries picked fresh from the garden, homemade granola, French style yogurts and the perfect cooked menu offering Benedict, English, pancakes and more exotic choices. The hollandaise was fresh and the smoked salmon was pink and almost fluffy in its lightness: perfection! I was so grateful to Jane for listening into to Teddy talking to himself on the monitor while my friend and I enjoyed our supper, they really went to extra mile to look after us all and make sure had fun. We really had the most wonderful time, and none of us wanted to leave! Collapse

My daughter and I enjoyed a night here on my birthday in July. The room was a courtyard room which was pleasant but not outstanding. The bed was comfortable but a little hard. The childcare was excellent, I was particularly impressed that I booked a baby sitter for the evening and prior to arrival she called my mobile to ask if my daughter would like to go swimming. Her name is Madisson and my daughter enjoyed her evening with her playing tennis. I think it is a shame that the new owners will start to charge for the creche and no longer offer a couple of hours for free. Breakfast was a little disappointing, I know the hotel has recently changed hands so maybe the staff are new. I chose a yoghurt which before I ate it, noticed it was past the sell by date by a few days. I told the waitress and got another one. We didn't use the pool but the gardens are very pretty and I would recommend this hotel. Collapse
