Wonderful facilities, so family friendly with great attention to detail. The children wanted to stay a fortnight, but our one night seemed more like a short holiday as it was so relaxing. We will definitely return - one of the best hotels we have stayed at in the uk. Collapse

I visited the Elms Hotel yesterday with two of my friends and the whole day was perfect! We firstly went for a swim in the pool, chilled out and chatted in the outside hot tub which is so idyllic with the trees and birds surrounding you, and then used the spa showers which were amazing - I loved that it felt as if you were in a rainforest with the sounds of exotic birds, and the mood lighting made it so peaceful. For lunch we ordered sandwiches, and the fish and chips at the bar - the girls serving were very friendly. All the food was fresh and tasted amazing, especially as we got to sit outdoors in the Pear Garden thanks to the weather being kind to us! The day could not have gone better, and I am sure we will definitely go again. Collapse

Came here for a little get away with my friend. This place ticked our boxes from the moment we arrived. It’s a beautiful building in a beautiful setting. We had one down side the whole time so I’ll get that out of the way, there’s no real reception so it’s a little awkward especially if there’s other people waiting. The girl on reception although nice enough really didn’t know what she was doing (she way have been new and it’s understandable) there was one other time, no one there, the staff that were around tried to help, one lady being lovely until another from the bar was rude to her for helping and she quickly left. I’d rather someone acknowledged us than just being ignored. The main lady we saw most of the time I think Jane, fab lady, kind, helpful really lovely a credit to the hotel. Anyway spa is amazing, can use as much as you like with robes, towels and flipflops, one of the most relaxing quiet spas we’ve been too. The hotel room.... we thought would be basic as we didn’t pay much on a deal, it was beautiful, clean, huge comfy bed, robes and slippers, couldn’t fault it. We didn’t want to eat in the dinning room so we had chilled seats and ate from the bar menu, couldn’t complain food was delicious and the guy serving us was lovely and helpful. We popped to the nearby shop and bought snacks (fab homemade cakes) for a film night, the hotel has dvds to borrow which was great. It was a superb place and great value for money, we will back and hopefully for longer. We have already recommended to others. Collapse

Oh dear.... not a pleasant experience at all. I took my elderly mother and her close friend to celebrate an 80th Birthday. We arrived, there were no staff around and after 10 minutes, eventually the receptionist returned to her desk. We were then offered either a place in the bar or in the main reception area, bearing in mind this had been pre booked. We opted for the reception area, however whilst the seating was comfortable the so called table was a wicker chest with glass on the top, ideal for drinks and nibbles but in no way ideal for afternoon tea. Tea arrived, the white bread was certainly not fresh, very dry, the brown slightly better, but again not fresh. The fillings were very unimaginative, the crisps soft. I had to locate a member of staff for a Tea strainer, that took 5 minutes. The tea pot was for one rather than two people, the milk jug was enough for one person not 3. Again I had to walk around trying to find a member of staff for some milk. I had requested by telephone if a candle could be put into a cake, no candle was available, just a "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate on a plate, whilst a nice gesture, was not what I was expecting. I ordered 3 glasses of prosecco, that took 15 minutes to arrive. The whole experience was not what I was expecting from such a prestigious hotel. On leaving, once again I had to locate a member of staff to pay, it would have been very easy to just have walked out. Whilst being extremely dissapointed I was also rather annoyed at the lack of apology from the receptionist who just shrugged her shoulder and showed no emotion what so ever. Staff training is definitely needed and front of house would certainly benefit from a receptionist who actually made guests feel welcome and assured their visit was a memorable one. VERY VERY DISSAPOINTED. Collapse
ABSOLUTELY DIRE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I booked an overnight spa break for me and my boyfriend for his birthday. Check in was lovely and the room was nice. Now it all starts to go wrong. No one told us where everything was, no walk round, no nothing. We decided to get changed into our swimwear and head to the spa (once we figured out where it was). The floor is EXTREMELY slippery, especially in slippers - don't wear them in the spa if you don't want to break your neck. The spa isn't like the photos and is tiny. The massage we both had was mediocre. Over priced and didn't last 30 mins, more like 20. After using the spa, we had a reservation for dinner at 8pm. We arrived downstairs to be told we could sit anywhere. We had to ask 3 times for menus, and finally got some at 8.50pm!! We finally managed to order at 09.10 and our food arrived at 9.40. By the time we'd finished, it was too late for dessert. Dire customer service, and I was disappointed that my boyfriend wasn't exactly made to feel special at all - we couldn't get hold of anyone! We sat in the bar area and headed to bed about 11.30. Drinks are expensive. Oh, and they add a service charge to everything which I got removed. The sleep was fine - the rooms are comfy and peaceful. Breakfast was awful. No where to sit, so we had to wait 15 mins. Nothing was explained, AGAIN! The waitresses kept getting peoples breakfasts mixed up - I was offered 3 different breakfasts before mine actually came - AND IT WAS WRONG ANYWAY!! I was that hungry I never bothered to send it back. Check out was equally dire - they tried to add things on that had already been included in the package price. Good job I am switched on. I said everything that had gone on and I got was an apology - but she was surprised I asked for the service charged to be removed!! No other form of compensation. Today, I got an email from the Spa saying they'd charged my card £90 for the treatments and sorry they hadn't picked up their mistake sooner. I was so angry - I'd already paid IN FULL at reception, 2 months ago...... turns out reception and spa reception don't talk to each other. But it's ok to charge customers cards without even talking to the customer! This place is an absolute joke - £280 for what we got? No thank you, never again. Save your hard earned cash and go somewhere else. Collapse

We found everything about this experience lovely, the staff were very attentive, the room clean and large. The spa was a wonderful treat and not too busy. Dinner was an amazing experience, really felt like fine dining.
