On arrival we were given an upgrade to what must be the best suite at the hotel, Block B 204, we had a rooftop terrace, which had a triple aspect view, meaning we had the sun from sunrise, until sunset, and was furnished with sunbeds and an umbrella, also a table and chairs, our apt had a lounge/ diner/kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, it was so spacious,p and also overlooked the smaller quiet pool. A few of the blocks had little or no views, or sun and two blocks overlook the shopping centre that is being demolished at the front. The front entrance to the hotel is closed, for safety reasons, but a perfectly good entrance at the rear accessed with your key card, on arrival, just press the intercom button & you will be admitted, reception and apt. blocks are well signposted. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, the garden team do a great job, the grounds are immaculate. All the staff were extremely friendly, from reception, bar staff, waiters and maids. A smile and 'Hola' was always returned. We usually go 4* and in the restaurant, although, there was not so much choice and not a huge amount of desserts, we found everything tasty and well presented, we were all inclusive and ate a different dish every day. My only criticism, would be that the only bar and evening entertainment was outside and in February the evenings are not warm, The pool area was not opened until 10am (winter times, I guess) until 6pm. Which meant there were always plenty of sunbeds available. Free, good wifi throughout the complex, safes in rooms, ( chargeable) but that seems to be the normal, pool towels free, with a deposit returned on checking out. Water available to fill bottles in the restaurant and at the bar. Approx a 15 minute walk to the prom, a supermarket and a few shops 5 minutes walk away and a market opposite the front of the hotel on Thursday and Saturday. Overall an enjoyable and restful 10 days.. Collapse

Went Jan-Feb 2018. This was my forst holiday since 2002 when I was around 11/12 and so I was a little nervous in what to expect. We went all inclusive. It is a very beautiful place to go on holiday to, with kind, funny and attentive staff. Rooms are cleaned well and great food and drinks. Only a few minutes walk from the beach and all local shops with people who were also helpful with directions. The entertainment was okay and could have been a little better but with the crowd they had (very unenthusiastic) I think they still did good. The lady who organises the entertainment was very funny and always tried to get everyone involved. The reception staff were helpful especially when booking trip to some of the parks. Unfortunately there was building work going on when we went, however never before 8am or past 5pm and never on the weekend. I would and will be going again. Collapse

For over 25 years we have visited the Canary Islands two or three times a year and, over that time, we have found our favourites where we have regularly returned, particularly the Mogan Playa in Gran Canaria. This is not a cheap hotel but it is still VERY good value for money as is this Aparthotel! We arrived five days ago, unsure of what to expect , having read some very poor reviews but, with a fortnight of our holiday still to go, I thought it right that we should express STRONGLY our positive attitude about this complex. Yes, there are some works taking place but they in no way detract from the upbeat feelings we have encountered from those associated with this El Duque Aparthotel. The rooms are cleaned daily, the food is varied and, from our limited experience, hot and of very good standard, the staff ( without exception) professional, industrious and eager to please, the surroundings conducive to an enjoyable break, whether 7 or 70 days and the all-inclusive option is one which should be grasped with both hands! We have tried hard to criticise any aspect of this hotel which warrants attention, but to be honest, a three star hotel which offers this much MUST be taken seriously! When we think of all the places we have visited in these islands, then this must rate VERY highly on the scale of value for money. Without doubt, we will be returning next year for, hopefully, another 21 day holiday!! If you want value for money, then LOOK NO FURTHER! Collapse

We have just returned from a week in this hotel. Booked through First Choice about 7 weeks prior, we were not advised about the building works, but people told us that they had been advised, but were advised that it would not effect their enjoyment of the holiday. This is worse than you imagine, jack hammers all day, knocking, cranes moving back and forth, dust everywhere it was more like a demolition site. We were shocked when we saw the view from the room we were given and complained immediately to the reception staff, who just advised your tour operator should have told you, not our fault. We were moved from our room the next day and were given a very nice room with a pool view away from the demolition site. The food in this hotel is good and the staff in the restaurant and bar are very friendly and helpful. The site is extremely clean and well maintained. Another minus is that if you had bad weather (we had good weather) there is only one bar outside where the entertainment is, and there is only roof cover with tables and chairs to watch the show. The alcohol is very poor quality and very low volume strength. Not very good for an all inclusive hotel. Also as this work is ongoing, you have to go through the back on this hotel to walk to the shops and sea front, which if you struggle walking would find extremely exhausting. Would I go to this hotel again - Not whilst there is demolition works and this will be ongoing for at least this year. Collapse

we spent a month in jan 2018 the front gate is closed as the shopping centre is being demolished you have to walk all the way around which was a drag.we were told by thomson some building work was going on but this would'nt affect the daily running of the hotel.it did, the noise and dust was constant 5 days a week some rooms look straight on to this building site which is awful.this really spoilt my holiday.no inside bar so sat outside in the evenings which in jan is cold, smokers are allowed to smoke under canopy and at the bar so no where to sit for none smokers or children.rooms can be cold as no heating at all.clean towels every day, clean pool towels as you need them comfy sun beds locked up untill 10am so no one can put towels on to keep them which is good. staff very friendly.the food is average as all inclusive.
